Open Question: Starting a new job, if I go into labor can my husband get fired for leaving? Starting a new job at AT&T!?
My husband and I are expecting our first child, he is due January 29th 2009. My husband just got a new job. He starts January 26th 2009. In the pre-screen interview he was told that you can not be late or absent the first 3-6 weeks. Do you think that me going into labor would be an emergency? It would kill us for him to not be there! Open Question: fishpond emergency - do i turn pump off?
I got crowded pond - 10 big fish in 400 gallon pond so i keep pump on all winter, but pond is nearly frozen over. can it freeze completely with the pump(3000litres per hour)running? will fish(KOI) be o.k with no pump? Help I just panicked and turned it it off because pump is slowing down.thanks for advice. its not fountain but goes into filter box and that has loads ice in it.I will decide what to do in morning. they are not all koi.thanks again and any more advice welcome. Open Question: I am very upset, does this sound like Parvo?
I dropped her off at the vets, they said it would be a few hours before they could get to her and test her, so told me I could leave her and run a few errands right now. First, I thought this would be considered an emergency situation?? She is a pomeranian, and very small. She has had her first set of shots, but was not due for her second set yet. Does the first set not prevent Parvo? My husband's mom sent her 6 month old dog here that has been fully vetted and vaccinated. The dog was very lazy to us, and her feces smelled horrible and had blood in it. We sent her back and told her she needed to be seen by the vet. This was 2 days ago, and now my puppy has started vomitting and is very lethargic. Her little tail and ears are normally up and perky and now they're down and her hair is standing up, she looks horrible. A friend of mine had a puppy die of Parvo a few years ago, and she has gotten me convinced she has it. I am a nervous wreck waiting on the vet to call. Does this sound like Parvo or just a stomach bug maybe? I have heard most puppies with Parvo don't make it, I am very upset over this. I haven't had her long but she's already a part of the family and I have become quite attached. The receptionist said she can't tell me anything until they run the tests. I know she doesn't want to freak me out if that's not what she has, but I just wish someone would prepare me for what's about to happen. Can someone please help? Does this sound like she has Parvo, and would she have caught it from my MIL's dog? I forgot to add up there that I also couldn't get her to eat or drink anything earlier. :-( I want to call every hour and ask for an update, is that being too nervy? I plan on finishing her vaccines, I didn't just not get them. She is not due for her second set yet, she is still very young, 9 wks Thanks everyone. I guess I will ride back up there and be persistant until they do something. I know that sounds rude, but I am not going to have them just let her die because there were other appointments. Open Question: When you have to go to a hospital emergency room with someone, do you feel like the wait to be seen and....?
treated seems to last forever? I'm talking about the time that you arrive until the time you are released and not when the hospital admits you. Although it seems as that wait is almost as bad sometimes. The wait at some of the hospitals is running every bit of 16 hours from the time you arrive, are treated, and then released to go. By that time, you could probably have gotten in to see your usual doctor unless this happens over the weekend or a holiday. This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard! (more...)

Open Question: What are a womans rights for child birth ( see details) ?
I am full term with a little boy. He is my second child. I had to have my appendix removed @ 7 mo. in an emergency surgery and ever since I have been watched closely so as to not deliver too early Now the first due date has come and gone (12/31) and it was changed to 01/15. I have been having contractions daily for 3 weeks. Not all of them have been braxton hicks. The baby I've been told will be larger than my first that was 6lbs. I'm not a large person and 6lbs was a hard labor. I went into labor but never progressed with my first child. Now this baby I've been told by my OB is healthy and will come "any day" I been told this for weeks. I am at a point mentally and Physically where he needs to be born. And it will not be putting my son in any danger health wise. Do I have the "right" to insist on being induced? I mean if I had been so inclined at the beginning of this pregnancy to end it would have been " my legal right as a woman" ( This question is not about abortion and I'm not getting into that) I just wonder when you have carried your child to term and things are not progressing at what point does MY DECISION over rule my Doctor? Have you had this situation? What did you do? Have you insisted on being induced and did your dr. agree? I'm a bit late to change dr.'s as I have already had to do this once since my midwife refused to see me and misdiagnosed nearly costing me my child's life as well as my own. (more...)

i took that whole emergency back up pill if you had unprotected sex within 72 hours. and it has a tablet 1 and tablet 2. the way the directions sound, it looks like i should take tablet 1 first.. but i took tablet 2 first does this mean that its not gonna work now? (more...)
