Open Question: How to get started in real estate?
Hi,my boyfriend (whom I live with)and I are still quite young,but we wish to become involved in real estate eventually.I am attending nursing school for labor and delivery,but its not something I want to do completely.Id like to do that and other things,not necessarily at the same time.He was going to do a trade school and learn skills for home improvement. We first had the plan to buy a foreclosed home and fix it up,sell it and buy more foreclosed homes off the income,and just continue this process.Then we decided to further the process and our income,would be to own our own real estate company. There is a lot involved in this process.What are your suggestions to the best way to get started and get to this point of owning. It can deal with: Schooling Ways to build money to start How to own a business How to open business buildings How to get employees What kind of employee titles do we need? Open Question: He uses "WE" a lot...what's he trying to say?
He talks about what we are gonna do all the time...We are gonna go here, we are gonna do this... Then yesterday I let him use something and he was like "aaawww" and I was like "I care" and he said..."Thats gonna be our new word" (even though thats 2 words) "WE care"..."I care"...yeah "We Care" I like him a lot but I'm scared of commitment and I keep telling him I dont want a relationship. He keeps telling me he's not ready for a relationship but now I'm starting to wonder if he said that just because I said it EDIT: I'm scared of committing to a guy right now at this point in my life. I'm so busy (work, school, volunteer, family) that I feel like I would mess it up or that he would have too much time away from me and he would spend it with someone else. Open Question: Should I allow a tenant to be removed from the lease?
I asked this question earlier, and got 2 great answers, but I'm looking for a few more opinions, from landlords or even tenants who have been there. Rent out a 3 BR TH to 4 women, and one woman has a child. The woman and the child have the basement, the other 3 the bedrooms. House is very cluttered, very messy. Not too thrilled with it, I know at the end of the lease (May 2010), I will have to do a lot of work on it. One tenant came to me asking to be removed from the lease. She would like to move out. She has the agreement of those on the lease. All tenants are employed. One is military. I'm not too worried about rent. It seems she just does not get along with the other ladies, and living with a child is more than she bargained for, with noise and rent. I'm hesitant because she seems to be the only one who cares about the house. But she did take initiative to get the other tenants to agree to her departure. What should I do? (more...)

Open Question: School Trip? or a Macbook? or a car?
I've got a few thousand dollars in my bank account. I'm not sure what to spend it on. I would love to have a car, considering that I'll be getting my license soon. Everyone that I've talked to, though, says that owning a car is just a hassle. They say that you end up doing chores for your parents all the time, always having to give people rides, worrying about insurance and gas prices. Maybe it's not worth it? Maybe I should just wait to get a car? I've also read that many colleges don't let freshman keep their cars on campus. I know a lot of people that got cars before going away to college and ended up just having to leave them at home. I've got other options though. For my senior year, next winter, my chorus is taking a trip to Orlando, Florida. It would be my last chance for a "field trip", but do I really want to spend over a thousand dollars for just one week? The memories may be awesome... but I've really got to think about it. My last option would be to get a macbook. Or any other lap top, I suppose. The one I have now is horrible. The charger rarely works and keys are falling off all over the place. I deal with it, but it really is bothersome. What do you think I should do with my money? (more...)
