Where does it say in the Constitution that there is separation of Church and state? I have looked and I do not see it. I have had this used as a argument against me quiet a few times. I assume people are just making up stuff to help separate church from state and to get God out of the U.S.-- Im not a religious or right wing nut or a left wing extremist, but just a curious student and im trying to figure out both sides of the argument. If you remember the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie with Luke Perry and Kristie Swanson, there was a scene where Buffy faces the lead vampire. She's fighting the lesser vampire (played by Peewee Herman) and has just cut off his hand (or something to that effect), she then tells him to clap. Open Question: Why is it that the Washington Capitals seem to view the Flyers as rivals?
Judging from articles I read and some of the postings on here, it would seem as if the Caps teams as well as many of it's fans think they have this big rivalry with Philadelphia. Did I miss the memo? Since when? Is it because the Flyers eliminated them from the Play-offs last season after the Caps had failed to make the play-offs for a few years? Since when does when series win constitute a rivalry? I think it has somehow become a one sided rivalry for the Caps and it's players and Philly just isn't feeling it.....really, to the Flyers and their fans, the Caps are just squirrels, tree rats if you will, looking for a nut.....they are sort of insignificant, the small fish in the pond....just a team from the Southeast division that we happened to eliminate from the play-offs last year. I mean, I have enjoyed seeing Mike Richards smack around Alex Ovechkin over the years, but a rivalry it is not. So Caps fans, what is it about the Flyers that seems to get your blood boiling and puts the fear in your hearts and gives you the misconception that this is some big rivalry? Joe.......naturally the divisional teams are all bigger rivals and the Habs but I don't even have them as our 6th biggest rival...I consider the Leafs, Bruinsbigger rivals, hell, I think I would consider TB as much of a rival....we have had some battles with them.......with a fair amount of player movement between the two clubs. LEASFAN.......all good points! You are right too.......the Leafs/Flyers had some serious battles for a good stretch and I still don't really look at it as a rivalry (and neither do you) which is why it perplexed me. It seems like Caps players/fans circle dates with the Flyers on their calender. Odd. I'll be paying closer attention now just because of this whining that they are STILL doing but I hardly consider them a big rivalry...I think they just need something to grasp at. Locality I think is a big one......good point on divisional realignment but I think this is newer fans and the players don't even remember the Patrick division (still a great point!) and the NFC East is a valid one as well. TRUE........WHO IS the Caps true rivalry? The Canes? Maybe the Pens so we can see who is better, Crosby or Ovechkin! (more...)
