Stare! - 2nd Edition
Stare! - 2nd Edition Furrowed brows and hearty laughter are the most likely outcome of this fun but challenging new game from Game Development Group. The object is to be the first to reach the end of the game board. "Been there, done that," you're thinking? Look again. In fact, stare hard--because that's the only way you'll get anywhere. Players (individually or in teams) must stare at an image on a card for 20 seconds. Actually, that's the "challenging" version. Depending on the relative level of masochism at the table, you can opt for the "almost impossible" version--stare for 10 seconds--or the "general" version, stare for 30 seconds (best if there are kids playing), and then answer questions about what you saw. It's not easy folks--just try to remember what color socks the man next to you on the bus was wearing this morning, or how many people were reading magazines. Of course, you weren't staring.... --Rachel Radway

Toy:  The award winning game Stare! has gotten even better – Stare! Second Edition has all new images and larger cards., Stare at the card for 20 seconds, then see how much you remember., Includes 300 vibrant image cards with 1800 questions, game board, sand timer, playing pawns, die and instructions., Play in teams or as individuals – it is great fun either way. For 2 to 10 players or teams., For ages 10 years and up.

Open Question: Is this a sly stab at blacks and hispanics?
~Mississippi has highest teen birth rate, CDC says:~ "Mississippi now has the nation's highest teen birth rate, displacing Texas and New Mexico for that lamentable title, a new federal report says... The three states have large proportions of black and Hispanic teenagers ? groups that traditionally have higher birth rates, experts noted. " http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090107/ap_on_he_me/med_teen_births Now was it necessary for the writer to put in that snippet 'the three states have large proportions of black and hispanic teenagers? groups that traditionally have higher birth rates', noted of course by experts. I dunno, it just seemed a little too conspicuous. The issue is that there are a greater percentage of teens becoming pregnant; it didn't say anything about black teens or asian teens or white teens-- the issue was teens. It'd be kind of like saying- 'there was another tornado in the south east, this was the most deadly of the past few years. It should be noted that the area however is populated by a large asian population- which of course meant it was more difficult a task for them to drive away safely.' Point being, the issue of the article was not about blacks or hispanics, the article was about teen pregnancies- regardless of race. What's your take? (more...)

Open Question: Need help with my book! 10 points to best answer?
After some major tewaks, I think I have it, but I still need some help!! Here is my synopsis and then some options. Riley Anne is away from home in the summer. She's in Austin, TX for summer break with her Aunt and cousin. While she's there, her cousin takes her to a party where she accidentally bumps into this boy. When she gets back home at the end, she starts having horrific nightmares every night, and it's the same nightmare each night. The boy that she met at the party is in every one. When she goes back to school for her senior year, the boy that she bumped into at the party has enrolled at her school. She freaks out. Even while avoiding him, she still has the nightmares. It turns out that he is a "Dreameater" (my creation), and Riley is a half - breed Dreameater, but she doesnt know it. He figures out that she is one of his kind and he and his family see her as a threat, so he needs to dispose of her. ^ ----- good? NOW: the first two sentences of my synopsis- She's in asutin texas for summer break with her Aunt and cousin. While she's there, her cousin takes her to a party where she accidentally bumps into this boy. I would like this to change but I don't know how. I can't decide if she - 1. visits her cousin and he takes her to a party 2. college road trip with her, her bf, and her best friends. her boyfriends cousin who they're staying with tell them that teyre is a party, so they check it out. 3. UNDECIDED - You're options suck and i have a better. (if you choose this one, please do share!) 4. (below) After many comments, i found this one and i think im using this but i still cant decide. (her mom is a dreameater and so are her grandparents) So i think that maybe a cousin, or perhaps the aunt, knows riley is a dreameater, and is jealous, angry, whatever and contacts the boy and his family because thes boys family have been looking for riley, but they didnt know when she/he would come. So i suggest something to happen to make the aunt aware that riley is " the one" . So the aunt gets the cousin in on it, and the cousin doesnt want to , but that aunt forces him/her. yeah i wasnt really worrying aobut punctuation at the moment I was not going to make them fall in love FYI that would be a totally stupid idea like bella's jacob/edward love triangle <3 twilight (more...)

Open Question: Is this a good valentine's present for my boyfriend?
My boyfriend lives in Texas right now with his family for a visit, so we cannot be together for this Valentine's day, but he is coming home in March. We are both 20 years old. He is nerdy, extremely smart (not cocky), and I think this is the perfect gift. He loves star trek too. I have a sweet card I bought him, and I was going to get this too and mail it out to him for Valentines day. I know he is getting me some presents too, so no worries there. Is this a good enough gift?? I have already gotten him a lot of gifts in the past that are more expensive, such as a pocketwatch, etc. And for his birthday in May, It will be an expensive gift too. So do you think he would like this?? http://ny-image3.etsy.com/il_430xN.49064155.jpg (more...)
