Open Question: (ENGLISH) Can you summarized this text?
Can you summarized this text? PLease. 10 point for you : Metro caught up with Joel Charlebois, winner of this year?s global photo challenge to find out exactly how it feels to have competed against and won over, 55 000 entries. Canadian Charlesbois, from Toronto shares his joys and views after winning the "Urban Jungle" challenge with his stunning entry "Midnight Tram to Humber". What was your initial reaction when you found out you were the winner of the Global Photo Challenge? It was pretty overwhelming as the whole experience has actually been very random. I only entered because one of my friends told me about it- as I was unemployed at the time, I wasn?t commuting and picking up Metro, so I very nearly missed out. How was the picture taken? I studied Film when I was in college so I have always been a very visual person- but it had been a while since something had really triggered my inspiration. Then, about a year ago, there had been a few foggy nights in Toronto, and every time I would walk home in the dark, I would wonder what it would be like to capture those eerie moments on camera. So one night, I wrapped up warm, took my backpack and little Point & Shoot camera (!) and spent three hours waiting for the perfect shot in the street. I wasn?t working at the time, so I could afford to be up in the middle of the night. Why did you choose to name the photo "Midnight Tram to Humber"? In general when I take a shot, I don?t tend to name or file it but obviously, I had to in order to enter the Photo Challenge. So I spoke to one of my friends who is an artist and he told me the best thing to do was to keep it as simple and literal as possible, like "Girl holding a mug". That in mind, I remembered that when I had been out taking the shot I?d had the Gladys Knight song, "Midnight train to Georgia" humming in my head, so adapted that title to suit my shot. Did you do any campaigning throughout the competition in order to get people to vote for you? I have to admit that I had a bit of an Obama moment and used Facebook as my main "campaign tool". I got my friends to change their status to get people to vote for me and generally bugged not only my friends, but also their friends to vote for me. After having done this, I can honestly say I no longer loathe advertisers but actually have a new-found respect for them. I also kept a close eye on the voting status on the website. Has winning the Photo Challenge given you a boost to take photography more seriously, or maybe even make it your career? It has certainly given me a major boost- as well as an amazing camera to work with (as my prize) and not the little shoot and point I used previously. I am definitely going to try and use this opportunity to realise my dreams. Your photo from Paris trip will be published in 4 continents and seen by 20 million Metro readers. How do you feel about this? I am overwhelmed by the push Metro has been giving this contest ? and me. It is a wonderful opportunity for far-reaching exposure and a worthy credit to any résumé. I see Paris as half-vacation and half-photo assignment. I intend to enjoy myself, but also work hard to meets the standards and expectations of Metro. (more...)

Open Question: has YA become a sounding board for unemployed 'conservatives' to come blame their problems on 'liberals'?
it would seem so....if you lost your job, blame those that made it happen. the bankers that screwed up, then got bailed out with your money. blame the congress and the current administration that gave them the check. blame outsourcing and the evils that surround it. DO NOT blame a president that will probably be a lame duck, but that hasnt done anything yet. do not blame those on welfare-they are in the same boat as you.........seriously. turn off your corporate owned right wing talk radio, pull your head out of the sand and look around. Open Question: what benefits can we apply for?
hi, I am currently seperating from my husband and will be homeless as a consequence. I need to find a deposit for a rental as I am on low income. Work for NHS. I have a 20 year old daughter who works 16 hours a week and earns little, also have a 18 year old son who is unemployed. None of us have ever claimed any benefits. Do we get joint housing help,can my daughter get tax credit, what can my son claim if anything. before you say all of us are looking for employment and more hours etc.Any advice would help (more...)

Open Question: How would I go about starting a resale shop?
I asked the same question last night, but I didn't get the answers I was looking for.... Anyways, I'm 22 and currently unemployed. I live in an upstairs apartment, with my boyfriend. Anyways, downstairs was once a car selling business. Now, the space is empty.I was thinking about buying and selling on ebay, but that space would be a good spot for a resale shop. I live in a small town and there are several resale shops in town, not including goodwill. I live behind the public square. I would not have to pay rent, but I'm thinking utilities, taxes, and for a business license. Does anyone have some suggestions or comments? I'd like to hear from someone with a resale shop as well....? (more...)

Open Question: Support groups online for a formerly abused woman who drinks too much?
First off,please no bashing and don't suggest counseling-been there done that. I know I have issues ...Am legally separated but he is still in the picture,for the kids. I am nurse,surprised that I'm codependent-ha!ha! Husband of 11 yrs, unemployed more than not-currently working.He got into crack,bankrupted us,in and out of rehab 3 times.A week in jail a yr ago finally helped set him straight,I think he's been clean since.While using(this has been a 5 yr ordeal) he got physically and even more verbally abusive(always was arrogant).I started drinking to kill the pain/cope( I know better... but everywhere I turned to for support backfired on me and.... he is a great b.s.'er,so cops and everyone thinks he is wonderful.Went to Salvation Army when he tried to strangle me,they threatened to take away my kids...) I have had the same fulltime job for 11 yrs,but most of my friends are gone due to down sizing.My kids all have been in counseling and are happy that dad is"clean" and mostly being nice now,so at the last min I stopped the divorce and kept separation.I can't help but resent him,afraid he'll relapse,afraid of his temper,refuse to confide in him cuz he uses anything I say in confidence,against me.Threatened me and family when I filed for the D.Dad is real sick,so I won't leave the area. He just can't understand that intellectually I KNOW he is trying,but my heart and fear hold me back from trusting. Whacked isn't it? Are there support groups on line that are completely confidential that he can't track?? Thanks (more...)

Open Question: Help with free clothing/food in NYC?
I am unemployed and have desperately been looking for work for 3 months in my field as a Legal Secretary. I am a 21 year old female who lives alone in Queens, NY. I REALLY need to get some clothing for free for job interviews and in general. I've got one pair of jeans and 2 or 3 tops at this point. Basically I'm just paying my rent from odd jobs and loans and I can't even afford to buy groceries. Anyone know where I can get some free clothing/groceries? I know a lot of places have restrictions or seniors only... HELP! (more...)
