Resolved Question: What to do in Dubai when sexually assaulted and Police totally not interested?
A female family member is currently living in Dubai and went out to celebrate the "New Year".
When it came to going home, she decided not to risk walking home alone so caught a taxi to the Palm Jumeirah. Unfortunately, she fell asleep and awoke some time later at an abandoned building site outside the city with the taxi driver leaning over her.
Obviously very afraid, she kicked, scratched, and screamed hysterically and, thankfully although who knows why, the man seemed panicked by her reaction, gave up trying anything further and drove her home.
Upon arrival, he demanded the full fare for the 1 and a half hour journey he had taken her on. She did not have enough money so he let her out to go and get some and, unbelievably, waited for her to return. She had by then, raised the alarm with the security guard in her building and he called the police and stayed with her until they arrived.
However, the Police then told her that as a Western woman who'd been drinking alcohol, what did she expect, that it was all her fault and that if she insisted on trying to take things further and didn't pay the driver the fare, then she would be arrested and then deported (for immorality or something? - are they serious?)
So, she then had the humiliation of having to pay this pervert money for a journey that should have taken no longer than 10 minutes.
The police then let him leave without taking so much as his name or registration details. Her details, however, have been taken to be put on file for future reference.
I'm shocked. I know that the middle east has vastly different opinions and cultures to the ones I am used to, although, I did think that everybody, regardless of race sex etc, had the right to feel safe in a registered taxi anywhere in the world. It seems so sad that the police themselves don't seem to agree.
Does anybody know if anything further can be done in this extremely upsetting scenario, without destroying her reputation or having to give up her life and career there and come home with nothing?
Please help if you can and please tell anybody you know out there so that they not be as naive as my family member was and know not to take their safety for granted.
Thanks, PJ

Resolved Question: He just confessed the worst thing ever....?
I have been dating a guy for 5 mos, most of it has been long distance, because he had to go and get his son from his mother because she almost got him taken away.
Him and his son came and spent the holiday with me, it was so great...it was so amazing having him around, he's such a good dad...and he did things around the house, even folded up my laundry that i forgot in the dryer....made me feel so special and it has been a long time since a man has done that for me....I am very guarded, but I think I just finally gave up and I have completely fallen for this man....
He told me that he had something to tell me, right before he left, because we are talking about him moving in, I know it's soon and it scares me and he said he would give me time to REALLY think it over...then he confessed to me that 10 years ago he was at a party and had sex with this girl, he said he knew she was under age, and that she was always hanging out with older guys...but he said fact is was that he took advantage of a drunk teen age girl. He served 6 years because she was only 15....and so of course he has to register as a sex offender...I am in shock, i think, i don't know....I'm hurting so bad, because I really thought this was it, I haven't been in a relationship in a long time because i got hurt so bad...and I finally thought this was it and now I don't know...I have looked every possible thing I can look up he even told me how to find him on the internet, and everything is true...I want a life with him, but how can I? I'm afraid friends and family will find out people at work,,,it will be hard for him to find work...but my heart is so broken with out him, I haven't even been sleeping because i miss him so much...what can I do...

Resolved Question: Help me, my computer is going crazy...?
UGH my brother was on my computer and then I get on and it's all f***ed up... I have "MS AntiSpyware 2009" (which I know is one of those fake anti-spyware programs) alerts popping up like every 2 seconds. I'm on Firefox right now but I accidentally clicked Internet Explorer when I first got on and when the browser opened I got this message instead of homepage:
"Insecure Internet activity. Threat of virus attack!
Due to insecure Internet browsing your PC can easily You may be infected with viruses, worms and trojans without your knowledge, which can lead to system slowdowns, freezes and crashes.
Unprotected Internet browsing can result in your personal information being revealed without your knowledge or permission.
To get full advanced real-time protection for PC and Internet activity, register MS AntiSpyware 2009.
We recommend you to protect your PC now and continue safe Internet browsing."
Also my stupid brother installed "Spyware Guard 2008" and "Spyware Guard 2008," more faux programs.
So now I basically have alerts and notices and pop-ups everywhere and I don't know where to start.
*** Spyware Guard 2008 and Antivirus 360
@ first answer: the first link doesn't work for me. The second one, when I try to open SmitFraudFix.exe, I get the "encountered a problem and needs to close." The third also doesn't work for me.
@ second: they didn't recheck, but something tells me it can't be that easy...?
@ third answer: no, I can't use system restore.

Resolved Question: Who thinks that Justice has been served to Pacman Jones? Read on->?
Justice always come back to bite someone one way or another for harming & hurting others. This man has beaten women & destroyed a mans life by getting him paralyzed. I usually don't be glad at anyone's injuries but whether it sounds cruel or not if this is true karma has come back to get Pacman Jones & i for one don't feel sorry for him.
DALLAS -- Cowboys cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones will miss Dallas' crucial NFC East battle with the New York Giants this Sunday because of a neck injury that could sideline him for the rest of the season.
Playing in his first game since being reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for violating the NFL's player conduct policy, Jones was injured after recovering a muffed punt against the Steelers on Sunday.
"Adam Jones has a herniated disc -- maybe two -- in his neck and they are going to look at it again tomorrow," Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips said. "He's out for this (Sunday's) game for sure and could possibly be out for the season. Our people don't think it's career-threatening or anything else, he won't have to be operated on or anything like that. But he's going to see a doctor (Thursday) and be further evaluated."
Jones was suspended six games for an alcohol-related altercation with a personal security guard at a Dallas hotel. He violated his reinstatement arrangement, which expected the 25-year-old to refrain from any behavior that put him, his team or the league in a negative light.
The maligned defensive back has played in seven games for the Cowboys and has registered 26 tackles without an interception.
I'm not condoning what Plaxico did but at least he didn't beat up women or tried to get someone killed. Plaxico is guilty of doing something stupid that thank god no one was injured or killed b/c of his actions. Why dont you put your love for your team aside for once & see the harm & hurt that this man has done? Can you for once put away your love for the team aside & think about the innocent people this man has hurt? Is winning a Super bowl more important to you than the victims he's hurt? If that's the case that is very sad indeed.
How convinient you don't mention the man who's now paralyzed b/c of him iceman.

Resolved Question: How can I remove Spyware Guard 2008 and Mirar? Please don't bother me by telling me to install a program!!!!!?
People recommended that I install Spyware Guard 2008 to remove Mirar and obviously that did not work. Now I have another thing to deal with. I don't want to hear a solution that involves downloading something. If that's your solution don't waste your time and mine as well!! Sorry that I'm sounding like a bitch, but it's finals and trying to do research on the internet isn't going great when you always have pop-ups or spyware telling you that you need to register!
What if I delete Internet Explorer and all its components and then install it again? Instead of using Internet Explorer I'm using Firefox and I'm not having any problems with pop-ups just with Spyware Guard 2008 wanting me to register. Do you think that will solve my problem? Oh and will I have to pay for Internet Explorer? Thanks to the people who have already responded!

Voting Question: Student/Professor friendship?
So I'm pretty new to the college game. I'm 19 and currently a freshman in college. At the beginning of the semester I got enrolled in ENC1101 of course but registered late so I ended up with an 8am class. My professor caught me horribly of guard that day because when she walked in I thought she was a student, very young, very pretty, not what I had perceived my english professor as. Anyhow the class progressed and I found myself oh so curious about her, she's 24 with a masters in english, I mean come on! That's amazing! She's very bubbly and sweet and talkative and more and more I find myself wanting to be her friend. I'm pretty sure we'd be AMAZING friends =) The semester ends in a few days with our finals wrapping everything up and I'm not sure how to ask to continue speaking with her. I'm afraid of getting her in trouble and what not... Any help would be great, thanks!
Yea I thought about it a bit, I have no want other than friendship though =) and I can't seem to get my hands on anything about it from the school...

Resolved Question: Whats the deal with Marvin Harrison/Plaxico Burress?
I don't know all the details, but I do know that Marvin Harrison has acted suspiciously involving a shooting (gun registered to him/person shot at his bar/gun hidden at his carwash). Lucky for him he doesnt celebrate after touchdowns, so everyone brushes it to the side. Meanwhile Plaxico Burress and Pacman breath wrong and get punished. Pacman got suspended by NFL for verbal altercation with body guard? Burress shoots himself and gets dropped from Giants/criminal investigation/eventual suspension by NFL?
