Math Class Arithmetic for Grades K-8
Math Class Arithmetic for Grades K-8 AAA Math features a comprehensive set of interactive arithmetic lessons. Unlimited practice is available on each topic which allows thorough mastery of the concepts. A wide range of lessons (Kindergarten through Eighth grade level) enables learning or review to occur at each individual's current level. Immediate feedback prevents practicing and learning incorrect methods, which is a common result of traditional homework and worksheets. Practice can continue as long as desired in a non-threatening format which helps build self-esteem and confidence. Why it Works: Immediate feedback is a primary strength of this approach to learning math. Normal homework and worksheets have the flaw of allowing the student to repeatedly practice problems without correction until later. If the student is using an incorrect method, the incorrect method is learned through repeated practice. Immediate feedback in the MathClass lessons gives positive feedback and prevents practicing and learning incorrect methods. Works at Student's Level: The student's ability to work at their own level and pace allows mastery of each topic before tackling a new skill. Review of previous skills is easy because lessons from kindergarten through 8th grade are included on the CD. Each lesson provides unlimited practice by generating as many problems as required. This allows students to practice until they are confident they have mastered the skill. Valuable for Years: The CD will be valuable to a family for many years while the children are in elementary school. It can also be used to review basic math before college entrance exams or to refresh math skills needed in everyday life. Improves Self Confidence: These math lessons help students prove to themselves that they are able to learn math and become good at math skills. Repeated success in a non-threatening environment helps renew their self confidence in their ability to learn math and other subjects.

CD-ROM:  SingleContains over 2500 interactive Lesson pages on basic math skills for grades K-8., All Grades from Kindergarten through eighth are on one CD making the software valuable for years., Each lesson has an explanation of the concept being studied, an unlimited number of practice problems are generated and several challenge games are available on each page, Immediate feedback prevents learning the wrong method by practicing it without immediate correction.

Open Question: why are children more truthful than teens and adults ?
2 examples 1) food: if something taste nasty on a cooking show a child or toddler would spit it out, etc... an adult would say it taste alright or say it taste o.k. then turn away quickly. 2) emotions: one can ask an adult how he/she feels and they will say " fine/ o.k./good ". even if that person has 70 staples pinned to their head they will say "o.k." or " don't worry i'll be fine" and they could be bleeding to death, literally. maybe are we taught to lie when we grow up? Open Question: Should I allow my son to continue playing Dungeons and Dragons?
My son loves Dungeons and Dragons but I am concerned about him losing his virginity before he is mature enough to understand the possible consequences. My wife and I advocate for abstinence until marriage, but we understand that our children will make their own decisions and have taught them about safe sex. My concern with D and D is that I have heard it glorifies pre-martial sex and my son is very young 13. He often gets very fixated on his RGPing and I don't want that fixation to lead to decisions he regrets. This weekend he is going to an all weekend RPG session at a friends house and several girls from his class have also been invited to the party. Should I allow him to go? (more...)

Open Question: What a great , Reflection on life today.?
GOD CREATED CHILDREN (AND IN THE PROCESS GRANDCHILDREN) To those of us who have children in our lives, whether they are our own, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or students... here is something to make you chuckle. Whenever your children are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to His own children. After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve. And the first thing he said was ' DON'T ! ' 'Don 't what ? ' Adam replied. 'Don't eat the forbidden fruit.' God said. 'Forbidden fruit ? We have forbidden fruit ? Hey Eve..we have forbidden fruit ! ' ' No Way ! ' 'Yes way ! ' 'Do NOT eat the fruit ! ' said God. 'Why ? ' 'Because I am your Father and I said so !' God replied, wondering why He hadn't stopped creation after making the elephants A few minutes later, God saw His children having an apple break and He was ticked ! 'Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit ? ' God asked. 'Uh huh,' Adam replied. 'Then why did you ? ' said the Father. 'I don't know,' said Eve. 'She started it ! ' Adam said. 'Did not ;! ' 'Did too ! ' 'DID NOT ! ' Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own. Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed. If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself. If God had trouble raising children, what makes you think it would be a piece of cake for you ? THINGS TO THINK ABOUT ! 1. You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up. 2. Grandchildren are God's reward for not killing your own children. 3. Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young. 4. Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said . 5. The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own 6. We childproofed our homes, but they are still getting in. ADVICE FOR THE DAY: Be nice to your kids. They will choose your nursing home one day AND FINALLY: IF YOU HAVE A LOT O F TENSION AND YOU GET A HEADACHE, DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE: 'TAKE TWO ASPIRIN' AND 'KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN'!!!! Open Question: Type of personality to teach elementary vs high school?
I am trying to decide between teaching elementary (3rd or 4th I hope) or High School Speech..... What kind of personality, energy, skills, sacrifice, job availabilty, etc is a best fit for each of these? I know I want to teach more than anything, after working 2 years out of college I haven't found a job that I feel is meaningful and helps others. I have a lot of experience with younger children, but none with high school. I was in several volunteer programs to help kids in high school and in college, I miss that happiness that brought me and the satisfaction at the end of the day. I want to be an important safe inspiring person in my students' lives. I have a Communications degree, I am a female, in my early 20's, nicer than I am mean :), love planning, somewhat non confrontational, and am curious as to which of these two areas I would best fit? I guess my biggest concerns are not being able to "handle" high school kids, and then with elementary becoming bored? (more...)

Open Question: Very strong willed toddler?
Does anyone recommend any parenting books on strong willed toddlers? My 19 month old is the joy of my life, but holy cow! The child bounces off walls, throws crazy tantrums, etc. We are trying to teach bounderies, but I want to make sure we are doing things that are best for her. Any thoughts would be appreciated! i stay at home part time and the rest of the time her grandmother's watch her. So, she does have a very well structured day. I always try to ignore her tantrums when we are out running errands, which used to work just fine. However, they are becomming more intense, so I'm really looking for some strategies other than just ignoring. I'm also looking for some strategies for the 'pushing buttons' she seems to REALLY enjoy. time out doesn't work (she's independendant and doesn't mind sitting on her own), she's only 19 months, so i'm agains spanking (but not necessarily swatting).....
