While some might question the comic potential of a movie concerning grave robbing and forced brain transplants, Mike Nelson and his 'bot pals Crow and Tom Servo mine plenty of laugh fodder from 1963's The Atomic Brain in this fifth-season episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. In addition to the usual rapid-fire patter and pop-culture references (Mike: "[The Silence of the Lambs'] Jame Gumb only dreamed of what this guy's been able to accomplish"), the boys also present a light operetta that accompanies the film's herky-jerky score, as well as chin puppetry from Mike (which terrifies the 'bots). And in a MST3K first, the disembodied Magic Voice (Mary Jo Pehl) steps into the spotlight and duels verbally with Atomic Brain's unctuous narrator (Bradford Dillman). Also included is the original accompanying short, a grim educational film from 1955 entitled "What About Juvenile Delinquency?" Paul Newman directed this poetic, sunlight- and memory-drenched film version of Tennessee Williams's classic memory play. The casting is surprisingly adept, considering that several of the performers would seem to be too old for their roles. John Malkovich plays Williams's stand-in, Tom Wingfield, a dreamer who lives with his domineering mother Amanda (a luminous Joanne Woodward) and his fragile, limping sister Laura (Karen Allen). Mom wants nothing more than to marry off shy-flower Laura and keeps bugging Tom to bring home a guy. So he corrals coworker James Naughton for an evening--and Amanda treats it as though Naughton's signed up for the nuptial short-course. Woodward is alternately touching and harridan-like as this smothering mother who means well, while Malkovich is perfect as the would-be writer longing to break free. I am planning massive upgrades for my homemade home theater pc, but am having some trouble. Before I embark on installing a new video card, blue ray drive, memory card reader, and 1.5 tb hard drive, I wanted to be safe and back up all my photos and music. I bought a usb cable and power supply to copy the files to the new hard drive before installation, but even though the computer recognizes the drive is connected, it asks me to insert a disc when I try to move any files. The Seagate website ensires me that there are no additional drivers needed, and it works fine with two other computers that I have. I also tried the same thing with a 2.5" hard drive from a laptop and got the same result. If I really wanted to, I can transfer the files to a 4g flash drive 15 times and then to another computer and THEN to the drive, but it would be so much easier just going straight to it. In device manager, it reads as "unknown device" but in my computer it shows as "Removeable Disc F:" I have tried on all usb ports on the pc as well. It also says that it is functioning properly. Any advice? I am running Windows XP MCE 2005. (more...)

So i'm about to have my 14th b-day. We're renting out this clubhouse thing (it's like a big living room, a theater room with a fairly big tv, a kitchen and a dining room) in the main room, were gonna have music playing. theres gonna be pizza, cake, ice cream, and soda in the dining room. in the theater room, were gonna either have video games or a movie playing. I'm inviting like 30 people (both girls and guys) and i don't kno what else to do there. it sounds a little boring! theres also a hot tub that kids can sit around and like put their feet in, but i have no idea wat else to do. any suggestions? btw i'm mostly worried whether or not the guys are gonna b bored. Knowing my girls, i'm 90% sure they're not gonna get bored, but the guys are a different story. Guys opinions would be great :) it's gonna b completely chaparoned, so no spin the bottle or similar i tend to over analyze things... as i'm sure you can tell and i have O.C.D. that's y this is such a big deal lol (more...)
