Oklahoma opened the new Millenium with the National Championship- shutting out the supposedly unbeatable FSU Seminoles in probably the greatest defensive performance in Championship Game history. Then..... 2001-Jason White who was going to be the next Steve Young with his mobilty and throwing ability, blows out his knee. 2002- White blows out his OTHER knee. 2003- White re-tooled as an immobile pocket passer breaks his foot and throwing hand in the Big-12 Championship game. Stoops refuses to bench his Heisman QB for the Championship Game. Sooners dominate physically at the line, but lose game at LSU. 2004- A graduation depleted OU goes up against a paid pro team in USC and gets whupped bad. NCAA turns a blind eye to their biggest earner's cheating. 2006- OU plays Boise with Peterson and Malcolm Kelly injured, and a converted WR playing QB. Lose on a couple of miraculous trick plays. 2007- OU plays bowl game missing 6 out of their best 8 players. Gets beat badly by WVU. 2008- Predicted to be the best team until all three superstar Juniors (Curtis Lofton, Reggie Smith, Malcolm Kelly) jump to the NFL. Pre-season Defensive Player Of The Year- Auston English injured almost all year. Team leader and Butkus Award favorite- Ryan Reynolds goes down for the year during Texas game. Team deflates, Sooners lose. His good replacement goes down 4 games later. Probable future Heisman Trophy winner- DeMarco Murray gets injured on opening kickoff of Big-12 Championship Game. Thought to be non-serious, turns out to be season ending. What the hell else can happen to the Sooners at Bowl time EVERY year? This is getting to be like the 'Curse of the Bambino' or something? The worst part is those SEC hacks that claim Oklahoma chokes instead of realizing that they always play these bowl games without their best guys. The evidence is that during the season, OU crushes teams that crush their teams in Bowl Games. To put this in the proper perspective, Florida would have to play without Tebow and Spikes to make this even. Do you believe in the Millenium curse? Big-12 doesn't run anyways? LOL! That what we are famous for! Oklahoma is the greatest running team of all-time! Billy Vessels Steve owens Greg Pruitt Billy Sims A.D. DeMarco Murray and about 100 more great ones! Look I understand people bashing Ohio State in the national championship the last 2 years, but how come nobody is talking about Oklahoma has performed in the last 5 bowl games. If you don't remember here there are: 2008 Fiesta Bowl: West Virginia 48, Oklahoma 28 2007 Fiesta Bowl: Boise State 43 Oklahoma 42 2006 Holiday: Oregon 14, Oklahoma 17 2005 National Championship Orange Bowl: USC 55, Oklahoma 19 2004 National Championship Sugar Bowl: LSU 21, Oklahoma 14 Look losing the the last 4 Bowl Championships in the last 4 they have been in. Shouldn't they be getting bashed just as much as Ohio State was getting bashed by the big 12 fans? I am tired of seeing this team put up 60pts and act like your offense is so unbelievable. No, it is not. If you remember USC a common team you guys both played was up on Washington 42-0 at halftime, and beat them with their backups in the second half to win 56-0. Oklahoma won 55-14 against Washington. Oh yeah I watched the Washington vs Oklahoma game because I live in Washington and Oklahoma left their starters in to pad their stats, that's not USC style. My point is why is bad defense getting rewarded to play in the National Championship. A great defense will always shut down a good offense. Example Oregon has a powerful offense too, they played USC and lost 44-10, and USC gives up and average of 7.8pts a game. USC hasn't lost a game by more than 7 points in the last 7 years, thats crazy since they have played a lot of sec, big 12, big 10 teams, does that not impress anyone? Let's say if they were to play Oklahoma scores 24, does anyone think that USC couldn't score more than 24 against that crap defense? Let's look at how many points this defense has gave up in their last 7 games 45vs texas, 31vs kansas, 35vs kansas state, 28vs nebraska, 28vs texas a&m, 21vs texas tech, 41vs oklahoma state. This is horrendous USC AND FLORIDA'S offense is better than these guys so what makes Oklahoma think they have a shot vs Florida who has a good offense and defense. My prediction of the national championship game Florida 55 Oklahoma 17 Please State in your answer what conference you root for so I have an idea how each conference feels. oh yeah don't write they suck? this is not logical thinking. I mean the top two teams at the end of the bowls will be Florida #1 and USC #2. I believe they should be playing for the national championships. oh just so you know I attend Eastern Washington University and i watch the Eastern a division 1-AA team compete with Tech. What? were not even good and it was 34-24 vs texas tech in the third quarter. Oh and for those bashing USC yeah i agree they lose games they should win, but not every team can just win every game they're supposed to for 7 years straight, i look at how they play vs top 25 and in bowl games, and they have the most bowl championship games wins since it began. also, a very impressive record vs top 25 teams. Look I respect other teams top teams in conference, i just don't think they are ranked appropriately. oh yeah and Texas tech is way overrated. (more...)

Hi I have the chance to buy an offensive playbook to study. My options: 1) 2000 Miami Dolphins official offensive playbook (actually used by one of the players) 2) Texas tech offensive playbook from 2002 3) 2004 New England Patriots offensive playbook. My problem: I've never played American football in my life, because I live in New Zealand where football is virtually non-existant and rugby is the most dominant sport. I'm currently at University in my second to last semester and I've decided that maybe after i graduate that i might spend a year or two in the states and try and get a job as a coaching assistant of some kind at a small high school. My dilema though is that because football games are never screened in NZ, all i know about football comes from reading material online and watching the full games that i've managed to download. Thus i've decided to buy a playbook and study the plays in one to better learn the game. So as you can see my dilema at present is which playbook should i go with?? Please help me choose, at present my favourite offense is actually Boise States but nobody seems to have their playbook. Otherwise though I should mention i love pass heavy offenses. LSU vs Auburn 2006.. the tipped pass resulting in a waved off Pass interferance.. USC vs Notre Dame 2005.. the "Bush Push".. 2004 National championship game having Oklahoma get routed instead of Auburn in the game.. Boise St getting left out being one of 2 undefeated teams in 2006.. or some other call that has been disputed how was "The Play" a hose job call? seems the refs got that one right and nice call on the Oregon vs Oklahoma game (completely slipped my mind) on the Auburn/LSU thing.. the correct call was "Defensive Holding" which would have been a 1st down.. but remains it really didn't affect the outcome as LSU receiver was tackled on the 5 when time expired.. I do however agree it is and will remain one of the great NCAA games.. in a word.. Vicious and some of the hardest hitting I've ever seen school boat is the short bus for swamp rats down on the bayous between Baton Rouge and Lafayette.. really harsh comment on education levels lol.. man that had my g/f ill (more...)

I've only been following college football for the past few years as a USC fan/student, so I've seen relatively few college football games in my day. Only three games have really stuck in my mind over the years, and these are my favories in order: 1) 2007 Fiesta Bowl, Boise St vs. Oklahoma 2) 2006 Rose Bowl, Texas vs. USC 3) 2005 USC vs. Notre Dame, the "Bush Push" game. I'm not saying I'm happy with the results of those games (I was very upset about USC's loss to Texas), and even though I'm a Southern Cal fan I'll admit that the "Bush Push" was against the rules. But these are the games that seemed to me most exciting and memorable. So now I'm asking, what games were the most memorable to you over the last three seasons of college football? What games have I missed that were really worth watching for even non-fans of the teams? (more...)
