Resolved Question: Are you for or against vaccines and why? pos ratings and best answer asap?
I am just curious as to the reasons behind choosing to vaccinate or not. My son has his vaccinations ( he is 8) and I am prego again and curious. I do not feel one way or the other on this matter so there is no "right" answer. I work in healthcare and was required to be vaccinated for hep B since I work with patients that have it but I was not previously vaccinated as a child because my mother never took us to see a doctor (out of neglect unfortunately, not for alternative reasons) What are your opinions on the matter and why do feel that way? I have heard something a long time ago about vaccinations being linked to autism but never researched further to see if it was indeed proven. Anyone else heard of this? (more...)

Resolved Question: alternative vaccine schedule - what shots do i get today?
i have not gotten any of my sons shots since he was 14 months old. he is now 21 months. i cant believe how many shots they gave him in those 14 months as i sit here looking at his records! and he did have a bad reaction to one of them. and wouldnt eat for days.today is his doctors appt. what shots if any shoould i get? on 1/25/08 he had varicella and mmr and hep A and pnuemococcal.according to their records he is due for hep b and dtp/ap and hep a (more...)

Voting Question: What is an effective alternative to Ativan? Ativan does not work for me. And yes I eat right, exercise etc.?
I am going through about as much stress as anyone could take right now; well for the last 10 months. Diagnosed with Hep C, landord is dying of cancer so I'll have to move within 2 months, boss is retiring and closing the office in September...fun, eh? Please don't be flippant and just say "deal with it"; I have tried and I'm 47 years old, so I've been stressed before, believe me. I am taking Wellbutrin which is great, but just once a week or so...I sorta flip and everything just piles up on me and I panic. I don't want or need to take something every day; just once in a while and only until I get a few things settled in the next 3 months. I have an Ativan RX but truly it is worthless; even if I take 3 1mg. pills, I feel NOTHING; no relief from intense anxiety. What else could my doctor try me on? (more...)

Resolved Question: My Pediatrician hasn't read the Vaccine Book by Dr. Sears . . .?
At every office visit for my 4 month old, we've talked about vaccinations. Even day 1 at the hospital, they wanted to give him the Hep B shot! So, now that I've done some research, I'm following the Dr. Bob Sears alternative vaccination schedule. When I showed the doctor my written up copy of the schedule, he said that he hasn't see it before. Considering that vaccinations is one of the hottest topics of concern for new parents, should I be worried that he is not read this book and is not familiar with the Sears parenting library? I do really like him and appreciate that he gives parents a choice in their children's child care. He also has referenced many studies during our conversations, making me think that he is well read in profession journals. (more...)
