Resolved Question: Why does it take so long to award a Hero the Medal of Honor?
Audie Murphy got his Medal of Honor pretty quickly for his actions in WWII, right? So why did it take from November 14, 1965, until 2007 for Captain Ed W. Freeman to receive his Medal of Honor for his heroic actions of saving 30 men in Vietnam. So you know, Medal of Honor Recipient Ed Freeman died Wednesday, Aug. 20th, 2008 at the age of 80, in Boise, ID. This article says Lyndon Johnson should have given Too Tall Ed the Award, but didn't. Why didn't he? Why was George W. Bush the one to Honor Ed? http://www.medalofhonor.com/EdWFreeman.htm (more...)

Resolved Question: Anyone else think the Yahoo article bashing Ball State is a bit harsh?
I mean, how is it gonna help Ball States program to go into Boise State and get crushed 70 to 14 or something? I understand it may look like Ball State chickening out, but they haven't really played anyone that good to begin with so why is yahoo bashing them for doing the smart thing and avoiding a huge defeat that would probably only make the program worse? it's on the home page.... Resolved Question: your idea of a better way to find the ncaaf champion?
here's mine... i just read an article exploring the idea of an eight team playoff. this entitles the participants to an extra four games a yr. that does not seem a big deal to me. most teams already play 12 or 13. also an eight team playoff would also leave out alot of teams, the surprise ones. i.e: boise st and tcu. so here's my idea. have a 10 game schedule for each fbs team. get rid of those fcs teams in your schedule and those weaker opponents. play your 8 or 9 conf games and 1 or 2 non-conf games. still have the division champ week. after that do a twelve team playoff. thus allowing all teams that idealy make a good case for themselves, including those non-bcs teams, a chance at it. give the top two seeds a first week bye. it gives an extra 4 or 5 games to those teams, thus making for a 15 or 16 game season (some teams already play 14). the teams that don't make it to the playoff can still have a postseason like game. keep the bowls. they will await there opponent after they are eliminated from the playoffs. the last two teams remaining play each other for the nat'l champ. think about it. there are what, 30 bowl games + already. twenty teams that ain't in the playoff could be invited to a bowl game, accept there bid, then await, if neccessary, there opponent (that got eliminated from the playoff). the later they're eliminated the better bowl game they get. so my idea keep the bowls and add a playoff. Resolved Question: Why is Michelle Higgins so against trip insurance? I read her article in IdahoStatesman June 30th.?
A few years ago my wife and I booked a cruise to Alaska. On the fourth day of an eleven day cruise I passed out in a gift shop in Skagway. I was life flighted to Juneau, Stabilized and then sent home to Boise where I had a triple by pass. Our trip insurance paid everything. Life Flight emergency rooms, Karen's flight to Juneau and our fare home. Plus most of what what we paid for the cruise. Enough that when we received the check we set it aside and booked a cruise out of New York when I recuperated. (more...)

Resolved Question: WTF! Would you agree with this!?
http://finance.yahoo.com/real-estate/article/105190/Best-Cities-to-Live,-Work-and-Play OK, Houston Texas I can agree with. But Fayettville North Carolina, Omaha Nebraska, Boise Idaho, Des Moines Iowa!? And does anyone even know what Provo is?! WTF! But the one that shocked me and has me most appalled is Fayettville North Carolina, who in the right mind would consider some old crappy, ran down, high STD rate having Military town a good, fun place to live? Do you agree with this cheesy article? Where is Provo at? (more...)

Resolved Question: Is this flag protest related to illegals?Southern Idaho student arrested during flag protests?
Southern Idaho student arrested during flag protests http://www.magicvalley.com/articles/2008/05/10/ap-state-id/d90ij3hg0.txt By JESSIE BONNER BOISE, Idaho - A student was arrested and security tightened at a southern Idaho high school in a week of racial tension that began when a teacher confiscated the Mexican flag of a student celebrating Cinco de Mayo. Student protests and counterprotests, faculty sanctions, desecration of Mexican and American flags and threats of legal action have rocked Minico High School in Rupert, a town of 5,600 people near the Snake River. As a precaution, security was increased Friday when about 40 students planned a protest over school administration treatment of two teachers at the center of the controversy. During the demonstration, a male student was arrested after being accused of threatening violence on school grounds, Minidoka County sheriff's Deputy Vic Watson said. "It was a verbalization that he made that upset other students," Watson said. No other arrests or disturbances were reported before classes ended for the weekend, authorities said. Emotions rose Monday when Clint Straatman, a physical education teacher, threw in the garbage a Mexican flag brought to school by Froylan Camelo, 16, to celebrate Cinco De Mayo, a celebration of Mexico's victory over the French army in 1862. Straatman said he was trying to prevent any animosity between white and Hispanic students, who account for nearly 40 percent of enrollment in the Minidoka County Joint School District. Contacted by the American Civil Liberties Union, Camelo said he was considering whether to sue the teacher. The next day, Hispanic students protested and drew a counterprotest from some of their non-Hispanic classmates. Later in the week, Dan Luker, who teaches English as a second language, reportedly damaged an American flag in front of a school administrator. Some said he acted in retaliation to Straatman's behavior and a show of support for the schools Hispanic students. "We have asked the whole matter be investigated," Prosecutor Nicole Cannon told The Associated Press on Friday. "They are somewhat connected." Both teachers have been placed on administrative leave, but emotions among students remained high. School officials would not comment on disciplinary measures, citing a policy barring discussion of personnel matters, adding that the investigation of Straatman was continuing. Hispanic and non-Hispanic students also traded words throughout the week, freshman Nes Ramirez said, adding that he and others received a text message stating: "Go back to Mexico." Ramirez, 15, helped organize the protest Friday morning, also using text messages and urging supporters to wear the red, green and white colors of the Mexican flag. Some protests during the week drew a mix of students, but the message Friday was directed at the school district's response. Ben Reed, a personality on local Spanish station KFTA-AM, urged students earlier in the week to silently protest by wearing colors of the Mexican flag. "I believe it was an injustice," Reed said. "I would have hoped it would have been resolved a lot sooner." A service of the Associated Press(AP) I live in this area(not the area where this high school is but not far). This flag incident on May 5, 2008 put the high school into the national spotlight on this. Resolved Question: Downside of an Obama Ticket?
Obama's losses Tuesday in Texas and Ohio -- coupled with his Feb. 5 defeats in California, New York and New Jersey -- have not only shown the strategy's downside. They have also given supporters of Clinton an opening for an argument that winning over affluent, educated white voters in small Democratic enclaves, such as Boise, Idaho, and Salt Lake City, and running up the score with African Americans in the Republican South exaggerate his strengths in states that will not vote Democratic in the fall. If Obama becomes the Democratic nominee but cannot win support from working-class whites and Hispanics, they argue, then Democrats will not retake the White House in November. "If you can't win in the Southwest, if you don't win Ohio, if you don't win Pennsylvania, you've got problems in November," said Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), a Clinton supporter. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/03/07/AR2008030703318.html?hpid=topnews (more...)
