Jack Dollhausen: A 30 Year Start
One of today's foremost artists working in the Northwest, Jack Dollhausen is one of the early proponents of computerized art. Dollhausen has dedicated a lifetime to creating what he refers to as "machines," computerized sculptural assemblages that react to the environment or the presence of a viewer through the utilization of motion, light, and sound. From 1970 to the present, Dollhausen has created intriguing, often humorous sculptures that actively engage the viewer. This publication explores his creativity through 26 dynamic sculptures that convert the normal functions of electricity into elaborate statements of musical and interactive complexity. Internationally recognized, Dollhausen's work has been shown throughout the United States and Europe. Aden Ross is professor of English at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City.

Team Dumps Logo Near Buttocks After 70-0 Loss
BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Vandals football team is dumping the letter "I" from the buttocks region of players' new pants following a season-opening 70-0 loss to the Arizona Wildcats.
Rob Spears, the school's athletic director, says nobody realized just how the logo placed in the center of the players' behinds would look before they tried their pants on.
Spears told the Idaho Statesman the sewn-in University of Idaho logo has since been hastily removed by equipment managers after complaints.
Spears says there was a miscommunication with equipment supplier Nike over the placement of the logo.
"I was disappointed with the look and the appearance," Spears says. "It's changed."
As a result, the Vandal pants will be logo-less when the team's players suit up for their game this Saturday with Idaho State University.

Southern Idaho student arrested during flag protests

BOISE, Idaho - A student was arrested and security tightened at a southern Idaho high school in a week of racial tension that began when a teacher confiscated the Mexican flag of a student celebrating Cinco de Mayo.
Student protests and counterprotests, faculty sanctions, desecration of Mexican and American flags and threats of legal action have rocked Minico High School in Rupert, a town of 5,600 people near the Snake River.
As a precaution, security was increased Friday when about 40 students planned a protest over school administration treatment of two teachers at the center of the controversy.
During the demonstration, a male student was arrested after being accused of threatening violence on school grounds, Minidoka County sheriff's Deputy Vic Watson said.
"It was a verbalization that he made that upset other students," Watson said.
No other arrests or disturbances were reported before classes ended for the weekend, authorities said.
Emotions rose Monday when Clint Straatman, a physical education teacher, threw in the garbage a Mexican flag brought to school by Froylan Camelo, 16, to celebrate Cinco De Mayo, a celebration of Mexico's victory over the French army in 1862.
Straatman said he was trying to prevent any animosity between white and Hispanic students, who account for nearly 40 percent of enrollment in the Minidoka County Joint School District.
Contacted by the American Civil Liberties Union, Camelo said he was considering whether to sue the teacher. The next day, Hispanic students protested and drew a counterprotest from some of their non-Hispanic classmates.
Later in the week, Dan Luker, who teaches English as a second language, reportedly damaged an American flag in front of a school administrator. Some said he acted in retaliation to Straatman's behavior and a show of support for the schools Hispanic students.
"We have asked the whole matter be investigated," Prosecutor Nicole Cannon told The Associated Press on Friday. "They are somewhat connected."
Both teachers have been placed on administrative leave, but emotions among students remained high.
School officials would not comment on disciplinary measures, citing a policy barring discussion of personnel matters, adding that the investigation of Straatman was continuing.
Hispanic and non-Hispanic students also traded words throughout the week, freshman Nes Ramirez said, adding that he and others received a text message stating: "Go back to Mexico."
Ramirez, 15, helped organize the protest Friday morning, also using text messages and urging supporters to wear the red, green and white colors of the Mexican flag.
Some protests during the week drew a mix of students, but the message Friday was directed at the school district's response.
Ben Reed, a personality on local Spanish station KFTA-AM, urged students earlier in the week to silently protest by wearing colors of the Mexican flag.
"I believe it was an injustice," Reed said. "I would have hoped it would have been resolved a lot sooner."

Voting Question: Videos of Refugees in America?
I work with refugees from all over the world in Boise, Idaho. I'm trying to spread the awareness to friends over myspace, but I can't find any good videos of what refugees go through and what it's like for them in america. I want to find something that shows the camps they live in, but also shows a variety of nationalities (african, asian, muslim, russian, etc).
I DON'T, however, want these videos centered around the main problem in one country.
I want to see videos about the refugees' lives and what they go through and struggle with on a day to day basis.
Thank you so much. ANY video on these terms will be graciously accepted.

Resolved Question: Business files deeIs this business JetAway going out of business? Are the owners selling? What does this mean
MONTROSE ? JetAway Aviation has placed a lien, amount unknown, against property it claims to own in Montrose. If JetAway Aviation defaults on repaying its lender, the public trustee of Montrose County can be directed to sell the property ? meaning members of the Girdner family could be first in line for any of those benefits, a deed of trust filed Dec. 20 indicated.
JetAway, a limited liability company, along with another LLC, One Creative Place, executed a deed of trust that identified its lenders as Paul and Michael Girdner of Boise, Idaho.
Michael Girdner also signed as the borrower, on behalf of both LLCs, which is not unheard of, a local escrow agent told the Daily Press. The notarized document certifies that Girdner is a ?manager or managing member of JetAway Aviation, LLC,? and he would therefore have the power to act on behalf of the company.

JetAway CEO Stephen Stuhmer did respond to a request for comment.
JetAway, located at 1 Creative Place adjacent to the Montrose Regional Airport, is locked in a heated and expensive legal battle over Montrose County?s decision to award a competitive bid for fixed-base operations at the airport to another company. The county and JetAway will head to court in May after Federal Aviation Administration-sponsored mediation terminated.
The successful FBO bidder, Black Canyon Jet Center, also succeeded in having JetAway held in contempt over the advertising of fuel sales, which court orders barred JetAway from doing.
Paul Girdner testified at the November contempt hearing that he pays the company?s bills. Testimony indicated he was a financial backer.
The Daily Press showed the deed of trust to its attorney, who explained how such deeds operate.
David Masters said a deed of trust, similar to a mortgage, uses property as collateral to secure financing. In a deed of trust, the borrower transfers the property to the public trustee to be held in trust, subject to the terms of the deed.
The Dec. 20 deed places its property in trust with Montrose County Treasurer Rosemary Murphy, who can be called upon to sell it if terms are not met and a demand for sale is made
