Voting Question: Is this bowl season the year of the upsets?
just hear me out, every game for the most part where the underdog was already voted to lose by 85% of america, they actually win. Think about it TCU beat boise state(i really dont know if boise state was favored that much) LSU beats georgia tech(i told yall all we needed was a QB and we would be straight) Vanderbilt beats boston college(Vandy hasnt won a bowl game since my grandparents were boycotting buses and walking the streets of alabama aka 1955) Notre dame rapes Hawaii(and hawaii was at home) Kentucky beats east carolina nebraska beats clemson Ole miss domolish texas Tech And last but certainly not least Utah sh*ts on Alabama. After seeing all this, hold on all you longhorn fans, dont start celebrating yet, after seeing what i have saw the past few days, dont count Ohio state as a W just yet, I certainly did with alabama agains utah only to see the utes put 21 points on us in the first 5 minutes of the game. Anybody else agree, i know its not likely to happen, im just saying anything can happen and this bowl season has proven it. And i am IN NO WAY a ohio state fan, in fact i could care less for all 107 teams except for LSU Tigers and the rest of the sec (more...)

Resolved Question: What college should I attend?
Help! I don't know where to go to school. I want to major in Political Science and get a good job in a competitive field. Here are my choices: San Francisco State- in-state, cheaper tuition, not a prestigious school Cal Poly San Luis Obispo: not a great location but cheaper tuition University of Nevada, Reno: out of state tuition, good school Boise State University: tuition break, far from home (not such a bad thing:) University of Connecticut: EXPENSIVE and far from home, but it is a great school and will open up more doors. Do schools really matter when looking for jobs and internships? I live in California and I have a cumulative 3.76 gpa, and a 1760 SATs. Any suggestions?? THANKS (more...)

Resolved Question: Is it time for Hawaii and the other WAC teams to quit crying?
Hawaii - Loses bowl game at home, gives up 49 to a horrible Notre Dame team Boise State - Loses to two loss TCU Fresno State - Loses to mediocre Colorado State team from the Mountain West. Will the crying stop now? (more...)

Resolved Question: Why won't top NCAA Division 1 Teams play at Boise State Broncos Home Stadium?
Wouldn't you like Oklahoma, USC, Florida, Tennessee, LSU and even Texas to play at Broncos Stadium. Wouldn't you like to see if they could pull off a win there? Do you think any of those teams would win there, and if so, what would be final score. And what would be the final score if those teams lost? (more...)

Resolved Question: Would this system for a college football play-off work?
my idea of how college footballs play-off system would work..I'm gonna use the standings from this season..that might make it easier to understand.. first off: EVERYBODY needs to have divisions in their conference..(Big10, Big East, Pac-10, Mountain West, WAC and Sun-Belt all don't have divisions) second: put the independents in a friggin conference..(for the purpose of showing how this will work I'm putting Navy in the Sun Belt) ACC: Virginia Tech(9-4,5-3), Boston College(9-4,5-3) Big12: Oklahoma(12-1,7-1), Missouri(9-4,5-3) BigTen:Penn State(11-1,7-1), Ohio State(10-2,7-1) SEC:Florida(12-1,7-1(technically8-1)), Alabama(12-1,8-0(technically8-1)) Pac-10:USC(11-1,8-1), Oregon State(9-3,7-2) Big East:Cincinnati(11-2,6-1), Pittsburgh(9-3,5-2) Mountain West:Utah(12-0,8-0), TCU(10-2,7-1) C-USA:East Carolina(9-4,6-2), Tulsa(10-3,7-1) *Sun Belt:Navy(8-5), Troy(8-4,6-1)* *MAC:Buffalo(8-5,5-3), Ball State(12-1,8-0)* WAC:Boise State(12-0,8-0), Hawaii(7-6,5-3) The conferences with the worst overall win percentage are excluded from the playoffs..this will, in theory, make teams more interested in playing teams in other conferences and set up some intense match-ups(could you imagine how great it would've been if Florida and Oklahoma had played in the regular season?)..So the Sun Belt and MAC are out this season.. That leaves 18 teams..9 of which won their conference..So first off we separate these 18 into 2 groups..the champions and the non-champions..then they get seeded..this is based off of the overall record and strength of schedule(for sake of time and not wanting to check the sos I'm gonna just place them wherever)..The top 3 seeds will have bye's Group A-The Champions #1 seed-Utah #2 seed-Oklahoma #3 seed-Florida #4 seed-Boise State #5 seed-PennState #6 seed-USC #7 seed-Cincinnati #8 seed-VTech #9 seed-ECU Group B-The Runner-Ups #1 seed-Alabama #2 seed-Ohio State #3 seed-TCU #4 seed-Tulsa #5 seed-Missouri #6 seed-Boston College #7 seed-Oregon State #8 seed-Pitt #9 seed-Hawaii So the group A matchups would be 4 v 9 Boise State v ECU 5 v 8 PennState v Virginia Tech 6 v 7 USC v Cincinnati Utah has a bye Oklahoma has a bye Florida has a bye And group B matchups would be 4 v 9 Tulsa v Hawaii 5 v 8 Missouri c Pittsburgh 6 v 7 Boston College v Oregon State Alabama has a bye Ohio State has a bye TCU has a bye The system is one-and-done..lose and your season is over..win and your one step closer to the national title.. #1 seed plays winner of 6v7 #2 seed plays winner of 5v8 #3 seed plays winner of 4v9 So..this is how it would look so far(in my opinion) GroupA #1 Utah v #6 USC #2 Oklahoma v #5 PennState #3 Florida v #4 Boise State Group B #1 Alabama v #7 Oregon State #2 Ohio State v #5 Missouri #3 TCU v #4 Tulsa Those 6(3 in each 'division') games would be played..The highest surviving seed would then get a bye while the other 2 teams plays to see who would be opposite them in the semi-final game.. So here's the breakdown of that Group A #3 Florida v #6 USC Oklahoma(#2) has bye Group B #2 Ohio State v #3 TCU Alabama(#1) has bye winner of quarterfinal moves on the play in semi-final(duh) #2 Oklahoma v #3 Florida #1 Alabama v #2 Ohio State winners or those games play each other for national title..higher ranked team is "home" team(although game will be played on neutral field..)If both are same number than coin toss prior to game will determine who is 'home' team.. #1 Alabama v #3 Florida #3 Florida is national champ.. This would take up about as much time as the bowl season does..so it wouldn't be all that much of a change to the season..and there could be some kind of consolation to the tams that participated..and a bonus to the teams that were in the title game and a bigger one to the winner..and a couple spare dollars here and there for all of the teams(with winning records) in the conference of the champion.. Resolved Question: handicappers help me on these 3 bowl games?
ok I cant pick a side on these 3 think you can argue either way GT/LSU- WM/RICE Maryland/NEV so I think easier to go GT UNDER Rice OVER NEV OVER no one is hotter than GT and LSU has fallen - but LSU will at least bring their A game GT is not gonna run for 500 and score 40 and LSU never had an O all season - I think this is a 24-20 kind of match either way - besides last 2 games for GT kind of AVG away from home NEV/Mary - mary doesnt stop run well - NEV - worst pass D in NCAA - usually when its wac vs acc in boise for a bowl game its a shootout - I think both are jekyl and hyde all season either could win - but I cant see this being Low scoring - even if maryland doesnt want to be there Rice/WM - Rice is great O but one of worse D in NCAA - Rice cant be stopped -Clement and his WR's should get to 40 but I dont see how Wmichign cant play keep up - this one goes right to wire Rice should win on paper - but D wins games - so it wouldnt be the biggest shocker of bowl if WM got the upset Let me know your thoughts on these 3 :) (more...)

Resolved Question: can someone please proof-read my culmination project?
It takes as little as an ampere to kill someone; however, electricians are often surrounded by up to 200 amperes daily. The job of electricians became important around 1881, when there was a big enough interest in lighting the streets such. Electricians have one of the most important jobs of all. They make sure that people have power, and that things that run off electricity are always working. Having no electricity can cost companies thousands of dollars. In hospitals when the electricity goes out, people's lives are at stake. Almost all electricians go through an apprenticeship, or on the job training. They will always be needed, because nothing can replace the work done by people inside homes and businesses. Electricians are responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining various types of electrical systems and structures. Even though electricity was discovered in the early 1700's, there was no such thing as an electrician until 1881. "Edison and other electrical inventors showed off their inventions at world fairs. Electricians were hired to operate the electrical parts at the expositions" (wois.org). Today, they mainly do the same thing. Except that it is not just in expositions. Now they repair and install electric systems in people's houses, in large factories, outside telephone wires, and skyscrapers. Electricians were the ones that made our daily lives as easy as they are now. An electricians work is not all cookie - cutter. It requires some amount of skill that cannot be taught in a classroom. "Less than 5% of all Washington state electricians have a bachelors degree or higher" (wois.org). Most of the electricians go through an apprenticeship program, following a two year professional - technical school. Then they attend a four year on-the-job apprenticeship. They may also be trained through the military. Training lasts for 25 weeks depending on their specialty. To become apprentice, they must have a high school diploma or GED. They must also have a college level algebra class with a "C" or better. To become professionally licensed, they must get a high score on an electrical trade's aptitude exam. They must also have 8000 hours under direct supervision of a journeyman - level electrician. 4000 of the hours must be industrial or commercial work. They may also obtain a license by equivalent verified training in the military if they pass the licensing test. Almost all of the fields in the service industry cannot be done by a robot. The electrical field is one of them. Half of becoming an electrician is knowledge, the other half consists of skills, abilities, and physical demands. Some of the demands vary from simple things like using their fingers to assemble small objects, to being physically active for long periods of time. Different types of abilities they need range from multitasking to judging cost, to having quick and accurate math skills. Being an electrician, there is not a lot of grueling, backbreaking work. It is mostly just wires and electrical components. It is usually a 40 hour a week schedule. Also there are many opportunities for overtime and on-call work. The national median yearly salary for electricians for $44,780. The benefits they receive vary by who they are hired for. Many jobs are found by electrical contractors, self employed, temporary worker agencies, and automobile manufacturers. "In addition to jobs created by the increased demand for electrical work, many openings are expected over the next decade as a large number of electricians retire" (bls.gov). There will be very many job opportunities for new electricians. The ones who have already been in the field will most likely take the place of the older, more expirienced workers who retire which will leave the entry openings available. A more exact statistic from wois (The Washington State Career Information System) states that; "Between 2006 and 2016, the number of new jobs to open up in this occupation in Washington State is expected to increase by 14.8%. It is estimated that 259 openings annually will be due to new positions, and 481 openings annually will be from workers leaving this occupation" (wois.org). So there should not be any problem for new workers to find a job when there are 740 jobs per year just in Washington State. Electricians are needed in every state, continent, and country. There would be many opportunities for moving to another place if the electrician wanted to travel. The person who I decided to be my live source for my culminating project was Seth Cooper. When Seth first started becoming an electrician he went to school for three hours a night, two days a week in Boise, Idaho. The rest of the time he was an apprentice working at a hospital making 50 percent of that of a journeyman electrician at the time, which was $12.25 an hour. The good part was that his schooling was paid for. He has been a journeyman electrician for five years now. He is hired by the Oregon Electric Group an (more...)

Resolved Question: My picks for the BCS Bowl Games?
Fiesta Bowl: Texas vs. Ohio State Breakdown: I actually do not believe that Ohio State should be in this game. This wont be like the Ohio State versus SEC games of late but Texas will win. I have no doubt about that. Texas 35 Ohio State 24 Sugar Bowl Alabama vs. Utah I really would rather have seen a Texas-Alabama Game, that just would have been a fantastic game. However I think Alabama will have a down game. I am picking Utah in an upset, even though I think they are good enough to play a all cylinders Alabama team. Utah 21 Alabama 17 Rose Bowl USC vs Penn State I think Penn State is a good football team, good coach, great players. However USC will beat them down as bad as they beat down Ohio State. Considering it really is at home for USC. USC 35 Penn State 14 Orange Bowl Cincinnati vs. Virgina Tech I think Cincy is a good football team. Worthy of a BCS bowl bid. However I would rather them play Texas Tech, or Boise State than VT. VT is soild but not a BCS team. I do not care that they won the ACC. Cincinnati 28 Virgina Tech 3 BCS National Championship Game Florida vs. Oklahoma I have tickets for this game so I am very excited to attend the game. I think it will be an classic, to the level of the Boise State-Oklahoma game two years ago. Florida wins in 2 Overtimes. Florida 45 Oklahoma 42 Honestly the Sugar Bowl could go either way. Bama is going to be psychologically devastated about the supposed epic season ending with that loss to Florida. 2Lucky I actually watch more football than you do. In fact thats part of my job. Resolved Question: What's the difference if Ball State would have played Boise State in the Humanitarian Bowl? So what if it is ?
a home game for Boise State. I am a Penn State fan. Penn State will play USC in the Rose Bowl (their home field). I think the challenge is great. Why should Ball State back down? Do they really think they are entitled to a better bowl? They play a 13 game schedule of cupcakes. To say the Rose Bowl isn't like playing at home for USC is just stupid. When you can drive 20 minutes to your bowl game vs. 3000 miles for your opposing team gives you a HUGE advantage. (more...)
