Open Question: What company/ restaurant could deliver high quality food/gifts in Montreal, QC?
My goal is to arrange a delivery of a gorgeous gourmet breakfast to a company in Montreal, Quebec. I am located in the united states and it is difficult to search for caters, and other specialty delivery services as a lot of the websites i have come across are in French. As delivering a breakfast might be a bit of a stretch, it would also be a terrific help to get recommendations for top notch gift baskets / fruit assortments and things of that nature. This gift is from one company to another, so the presentation has to be impeccable & impressive. THANK YOU for any light you can shed on this.

Open Question: Do you think that this job offer is a scam?
Last weekend, I saw an ad in the local newspaper for a traveling sales job. When I called, the company told me that they are a magazine and children's book company who are seeking 80-100 people between 18-25 to travel the United States to sell subscriptions to people in different cities. The person said that they would pay for a charter bus to take me to their headquarters in CA and I would have a 30 day paid training period ($25 a day) and if they decided to hire me or if I decided to take the job, me and a group of people would travel to 30-35 cities in a period of 6 months going to local hotspots and college campuses asking people to buy magazine subscriptions. I would only get commision with a promise of $25/day if I sold nothing and I would also get a $500 sign on bonus only to be used for doctor visits, food, etc.
I am thinking about taking this job but am concerned for my safety and need to know if this is a possible setup (illegal activites) or simply a scam. Thanks!

Open Question: Organic foods and GE foods?
can foods that are organic be GE (genetically engineered) foods as well? Just wondering since companies don't have to label their foods GE can they say its organic? I just found out what GE foods are and don't want to eat them anymore. =)

Open Question: how come those who are not poor don't even try to understand or have human compassion?
I have been having a very hard finical time for about 6 months. It is worsened by these companies and people who do not understand. To me I would give a homeless person or someone who was poor help in whatever way I can help. I once stopped mid traffic to hand a homeless man some water and food. All the cars honked at me but I knew what I was doing was more important. (no I did not cause a wreck.) All the companies are pay money to are so cold. I was talking with KCPL and told them I could only afford $30/month. They said if I do not pay the full thing on budget billing I could be taken off and then have to pay $300? Furthermore my dental insurance refuses to cover the dental work I need. I just have to suffer. The dentist I go to refuses to write a letter because I am appealing the insurance companies descion. Gas is going up again. I am tired.. My sister might lose her house I could go on and on about our current soceity.
I even told my sister she could come live with me in a one bedroom apartment with her husband and 3 kids. I know this would voilate my lease but I am willing to help her out. To me people are way more important. When my other sister was homeless with 2 kids and she was waiting for housing help I took her in; I lived in a studio at the time. The manager threatened to kick me out. I pleaded with her; telling her my sister just needs to get on her feet. She did get on her feet without the government's help. I am glad i do not have kids what kind of society will they have to deal with? Everyday I cry for our my family, myself and soceity in general.
My heart breaks for the whole world. I think it is unfair that some poor child in Africa dies of a treatable diease while some rich man drinks champagne and gets fat on chocolates. Everything that is going on the world is sad; including the situation in the middle east. I can only try to help more locally. I think if everyone helps out where they live they can help improve our society as a whole.
I never ask for free services or even lowered services I just ask for time to pay off a bill if it is larger than expected. I never order pay per veiw nor do I go beyond my budget. I simply get messed over when I have a problem I can't fix then they charge me to have someone come out and fix it. With KCPL talking about a 17 and a half increase I may simply have to cut out my phone and cable. This of course would leave me cut off from the outside world a lot. The digital transition which is absurd is going to cut me off from tv once I cut out cable.
Oh yeah and I work from home so if I cut out my phone then a portion of my income will be gone. I have to make heart break descions everyday. I once I had to cancel a dentists appointment so I could put gas in my car. This is why I am working on a degree so I can make at least $20,000 a year that is all I want to make right now.

Open Question: Apartment - fire and bug ?
I live in a small apartment community in Florida. This is my first experience in an apartment environment and some things around here I find alarming. Maybe you can ease my worries or inform me that there is action I can take.
1.) Fire Hazards. My question has to do with the grounds and maintenance. My building backs up to a tree line. This line rests approx. 5 feet from the exterior of my building. Due to drought, fire depts. will do a controlled burn to thin out the underbrush in unpopulated areas, which helps minimize the fuel should a wildfire break out. With that being said, I have noticed our maintenance man doing grounds maintenance like trimming back branches and cutting back bushes, you know, regular yard maintenance however, he takes his clippings and throws them into the trees behind my building. My question, is this legal? Seems to me that would be considered a fire hazard. If one building catches fire then the "trash" thrown in these woods could become fuel and allow the flames to spread to a building that otherwise would not have been included in the fire. Are there laws that govern where and how to dispose of lawn debris in an environment such as this?
2.) Bugs, Bugs, Bugs. Now I know I'm gonna have bugs, I can deal. What I CAN'T deal with is Roaches. This is the first time I have ever had to deal with this and I'm coming "unglued" as a result. The owners are really good about getting pest control out but it's a monthly problem. It was brought to our attention by the pest control company that another tenant in our building was the root of the problem. He stated the guy appeared as if he had a stroke and the home was extremely dirty Food and garbage everywhere, the perfect environment for these disgusting creatures. Is there anything the apartment complex can legally do to remove him from the community? Is it right that everyone unfortunate enough to have to occupy the same building with this person should also have to live with his funk? I understand in an evironment such as this one that you can't control everyone around you but at the same time I pay $800 a month to live in a respectable apartment and roaches were not in the contract. What can I do if anything?

Open Question: I want to retire, should I?
I will have a meeting with administration on Friday. There is a possibility I may be terminated because of a stupid action on my part; won't get into that. I've been told that it could go either way. Might just be a suspension or other disiplenary action. I was thinking about retiring in March of this year on my birthday. To be frank, I'm sick of working for this company. There is never any recognition for a job well done and of course the typical back stabbing which goes on with every company I'm sure. I've been with this company for about 20 years and will have a small pension of about $2000 a month if I retire now. My mortage is a fixed 4.750% and my payment is $997 a month, includes taxes and insurance. I have no other debt. Just the usual food, PG&E, utilities car insurance ect. No credit debt and have $30,000 in the bank. Do you think I can survive on this? I was considering maybe a part time job to supplement my income. I will not be eligible for social security for another 3 years as I am just turning 59 in March. When I am 62 if I apply for social security I should be in pretty good shape with income. What should I do? I really don't want to work for the company anymore. Too much Bullsh--. Thanks for reading and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Jack

Open Question: Why do colleges lie so much to students by saying a degree will lead to success?
I used to not pay much attention to the lawyer and medical TV shows when I was a kid. I liked watching them sometimes, but I always knew I wanted to be a doctor. Well, things didn't work out that way. It seems like who you know is more important than what you know. I'm currently trying to play catch up and get a good-paying job that will pay a living.
I cannot believe how ignorantly some TV shows are written. Damages, a TV show on FX, is complete propaganda. This woman, Ellen, is the daughter of two blue-collar parents who gets multiple six-figure jobs out of law school. She takes a job with Patty Hewes and immediately takes the helm of a multi-million dollar class action suit with the head of the law firm at her side. Didn't she just join the company? How the hell would she anchor a major case as soon as she started working there? To top it off, she's engaged to a doctor. Her sister-in-law is a drug addict, but apparently a good enough chef to convince a billionaire to open up a restaurant for her. After settling the case, Ellen collects a $2 million dollar check.
Congratulations to all those colleges and law schools, you've just convinced a new generation to waste their money!
I actually saw one law school devote a webpage to refuting a blog that tried to warn students not to become a lawyer. These people are worse than car salesmen! Just search "Don't go to law school" in google or Yahoo and see what you find. These days, you're in the same boat as the basket weaving undergrad major with a law degree, with exponentially more debt.
Going to college with the aim of becoming a doctor is a pretty bad idea too. I had a biology teacher that went to a big university that probably makes as much as a fast food shift manager at Catholic school. I've seen too many people stonewalled by Med school admissions...they don't even get to the second round of apps!
How do colleges still get away with this? My alma mater begs me for money all the time? I swear, they have spent more on construction than the NBA has spent on arenas in the past ten years! Yes, it's a famous Big Ten school. What a bunch of scheisters.
I used a TV show because it is propaganda for colleges.
