Dimplex CS3311 Compact Electric Stove
Dimplex CS3311 Compact Electric Stove Fireplaces once were the primary sources of heat for homes. Now they're more closely associated with decorative, environmental atmosphere. Yet the visual appearance of a crackling fire seems to reduce stress and is considered to provide an aura for romance and intimacy. Most apartment dwellers are deprived of the positive, tranquil moods that are induced by fireplaces. Even those living in brownstones may have inoperable fireplaces. The Dimplex CS3311 is a safe, electric heater that resembles a portable fireplace. It can thermostatically heat a 10 foot by 12 foot room at up to 5,115 btu. Furthermore, this portable, compact unit has a simulated 3D fire simulation within a chamber to deliver the illusion of a natural, crackling fire. Now every home can experience the joy and soothing, spiritual enhancement that a fireplace can bring. With heat on/off settings, this fireplace can elevate moods anytime throughout the year. At approximately 23.5" High x 20.3" Wide x 13" Deep, the Dimplex CS3311 is a freestanding, portable fireplace that can conveniently move from room to room. Electric powered, there are no fears of possible carbon monoxide fumes. Stable, and dependably safe, the CS3311 is the anywhere fireplace for everyone. When combined with a realistic flame effect and economical operation it's easy to see why electric fireplaces offer the perfect solution to your supplementary heating needs. Besides, the appearance is so soothing that you'll just love watching it while reading, knitting, PC'ing, alone or together with that special friend. Add a fireplace to your home. It's a reasonably affordable major improvement to your state of living.

    The Apartment
The Apartment Unlock the door to Billy Wilder's THE APARTMENT and discover a heartwarming, hilarious and melancholy tale of life on the corporate ladder. This critically acclaimed masterpiece captured five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. As the beleaguered C. C. Baxter, Jack Lemmon turns in perhaps his most memorable performance in a role created just for him. The "key" to success for Baxter is the key to his bachelor flat. Baxter uses the key to open the door to career advancement--the executives use it to open the door to their extra-marital affairs. Fred Mac Murray plays J. D. Sheldrake, a philandering cad-of-all-cads who takes naive elevator girl Fran Kubelik up and down a romantic roller coaster. Played with exquisite vulnerability by Shirley MacLaine, the pixieish Fran is so in love with Sheldrake (or so she thinks), that she fails to notice the man who really loves her--Baxter. So enter THE APARTMENT--and exit laughing...and with a tear in your eye.

    Joe's Apartment
Joe's Apartment Just what the world needs: an all-musical roach revue. What worked as an MTV short film does not work as a feature-length movie. Intelligent cockroaches with lives of their own may seem outré and amusing on the small screen, but are disgusting and eventually boring when we have to spend 80 long minutes with them. Scruffy Jerry O'Connell is the Iowa farm boy who moves to the Big Apple and rents a filthy, bug-infested flat. Turns out those bugs are his only friends. Also turns out that the animated vermin are a whole lot more interesting than the human cast. This is just silly and gross enough for adolescent boys, or those with adolescent tastes. --Rochelle O'Gorman

    Kung Fu Hustle [Blu-ray]
Kung Fu Hustle [Blu-ray] Stephen Chow's follow-up to SHAOLIN SOCCER ups the over-the-top action quotient by about three zillion percent. The story is set in 1930s Hong Kong with Chow as a shaggy-haired would-be bad guy named Sing who gets caught up in the middle of a war between the top-hat-wearing Axe gang and the hard scrabble inhabitants of Pig Sty Alley. Chow--who wrote produced and directed--doesn't step in as the star here for quite a while letting the comic duties fly in a myriad of directions: a landlady in curlers (Yuen Qiu) has a yell that can flatten buildings; people get kicked across courtyards and through walls; musician assassins whip ghost sabers from lyre strings and a mental patient in pink flip-flops named "the Beast" (Leung Siu Lung) catches bullets in his fingers. Buoyed by SOCCER's box office success HUSTLE uses bigger production values and a dizzying amount of CGI-enhanced martial arts (imagine Bruce Lee vs. Bugs Bunny in THE MATRIX). It's full of references to other films and filmmakers revering spaghetti westerns and '70s Shaw brothers movies a la Tarantino's KILL BILL (fight choreographer Yuen Wo Ping worked on both films). It also pays sly homage to the works of Wong Kar Wai D.W. Griffith Sam Raimi Jean-Luc Godard Stanley Kubrick and Akira Kurosawa. Raymond Wong's inspired score matches each cinematic reference with the appropriate cue as the camera circles and swoops around the sprawling sets. This is a real treat more than a great action film or comedy it's a great film period and one that set box office records in the East.System Requirements:Running Time 99 Mins.Format: BLU-RAY DISC Genre: ACTION/ADVENTURE Rating: R UPC: 043396151253 Manufacturer No: 15125

Open Question: opnions on what the best vacuum cleaner is?
We are looking into buying a new vacuum, I are newly married I really don't know what a good vacuum is since I don't have much experience taking care of a home by myself. Our price range is $0-$200. We live in apartments so the carpet is low grade and we don't have much storage. I wanted something compact, has a hose so I can vacuum around the sofa. I also don't really want to buy online since most vacuums cost $20s in shipping. What is your opinion is the best vacuum and is there any other features that I might want that I don't know I want? lol. Thanks a bunch! (more...)

Open Question: unhappy with life at home?
I'm nineteen years old and pretty confused about moving out of my parents house, money isn't really an issue because I recently received a large sum of money from an automobile accident. I just feel kinda trapped and depressed about my life at home, my parents are so annoying! If I had the choice i'd move far away from the area but i'm working on a college degree at a school that's right by where I live. Is it too hard to maintain an apartment, school and a job at nineteen? Everyone is telling me that I should just wait until I graduate school, but i'm just unhappy with my life its driving me crazy! I want a change! (more...)

Open Question: The man who lives in the apartment above us is extremely loud, what do we do?
We just moved in a month ago and each apartment is individually leased, so there is no 'security' type situation. Obviously it is quite when he is not home and is usually pretty quite past 10pm-ish. But he can be REALLY inconsiderate, such as vaccuming at 6:30am. And the biggest problem is that we will hear a loud and I mean CRASHING-like noise every 15 minutes AT LEAST when he is at home. I can deal with normal footsteps and thumps every now and then, but its sounds like he is bowling. What do we do? Banging back only worls so much! Confront him? Call the cops? HELP! PS- I'm 8 months pregnant so I'd really like to figure something out before this baby comes along! Allie - even we don't share the same property manager, can I still go to mine? (more...)

Open Question: Do cheap furniture rentals exist?
I just need to rent a kitchen table and chairs for 4 months. I don't care how crappy the furniture is I just conveniently want to rent from a cheaper place with flexible leases and not deal with selling/buying/storing. (I go to school out of state and have an apartment I'm moving out of at the end of May to go home for the summer) Thank you for any response my question is what are some company names (more...)

Open Question: Can you interpret my nightmare?
In my dream, I lived in a tiny apartment with my mother, which looked very much like my childhood home. It had a very long porch with other apartments, kind of like a motel. It seems that the next door neighbor was a serial killer. He was tall, blonde, and had hair that looked exactly like my boyfriend's. He broke into our apartment and I had no choice but to defend my mother and myself, so I took an enormous butcher knife and plunged it into his abdomen. He didn't even blink. So I pulled it out and was yelling to my mother to look away. I then stuck the knife in his throat and tried to saw his head off. There was a lot of blood, but he didn't die. Well, I woke at that point, and that's it. Any ideas? I have no problem with my bf and mother, and my daughter and I live with my mother at the present time. I do, however, have problems with the boyfriend, totally unrelated to mom. Anyway, it wasn't him. It just had hair like his. (more...)

Open Question: Possible slumlords? What rights do we have?
We moved into an apartment complex a few months ago and have found the place to be a nightmare. We have a 3 bedroom town home. We live in Arizona and it is a state law for the complex to supply adequate cooling. After 2 months of complaining about how hot our place was the owners decided to tell us the wrong size cooler was put in... that is was for a 2 bedroom... only to then find out from the maint. that it was really for a ONE bedroom!!! Next, I have been getting these mosquito like bumps all over my body. We never had a problem with bed bugs in our previous place. I read that they can live in the carpet for months and the carpet was not replaced when we moved in and not cleaned as well. All the apartments had an inspection and we did not have an upstairs smoke detector. We brought it to their attention a week after that they still did not replace it. We contacted the housing authority and an inspector. After the complex found out they rushed over and put one in (2 weeks after we said something to them) because they dont want to fail the state inspection. We also had trouble with the dishwasher and was told by the maint. it was because it was hooked up to the cold water. We also dont get hot water a lot of the time and was also told by maint. its because the owner fiddles and turns down the water temp to save them money. Although WE pay for the water, elec, gas etc. but they have it set up where we pay our bill to the complex and they pay the main bill. We believe they are making a profit off of us and will not show us the main bill. We also have a form of mold growing on our bathroom wall. We thought maybe it was our air went because they painted over dust on it and it no longer had open vents. It was replaced and we were told it was sucking the air in the wrong direction and air was coming in from outside. This is just SOME of our issues. Can someone fill me in on what rights I have and where to go from here? These things took weeks/months to fix. They have 5 days for emergency problems and 10 for non-emergency. They ONLY came to fix them after code compliance was called. They want their money on time and I expect my issues to be taken care of on time. (more...)

Open Question: Planning on adopting a new puppy and need some advice?
Hi! My husband and I plan on adopting a puppy in the near future and i need some advice. We currently have a 1 1/2 year old spayed collie mix which we love dearly but would like to have not only a companion for her but would love to adopt again from a shelter. When we brought the dog we have now home from the shelter she was 8 weeks old and we were living at an apartment during the time so i could leave her in the crate and come home everyday at lunch to let her out to potty. Well we now live in a house about 45 min. from work so we would not be able to go home to let the puppy out at lunch. Our dog now stays in the backyard during the day while we are at work and is indoors at night and while we are at home. Where exactly should we leave the puppy during the day since we cannot leave it in a crate for 8 hours without letting it out? Should we set up a small pin in the yard or something like that? Our garage has a side door to the backyard which we leave open so our dog can go in and out as she pleases....could we keep the pup in there? Any advice is greatly appreciated :) I live in TX I plan on getting a dog less than one year because i think since our dog now is pretty protective and etc.and it would be easier for her to get a long with a younger dog. We plan on getting a med. size dog that is fairly active like our collie mix. As far as neighbors watching our dogs that's out of the question....we recently moved to a new neighborhood with people around us that we don't know well and that don't even have pets.....i would not trust someone to come into our house, let alone be responsible for our dogs when we aren't there. Open Question: What happens to an apartment lease if spouse dies or has to go to a nursing home? ?
Married couple sign a lease based on their combined income; one dies or has to go to a nursing home, what happens to the lease if the survivor cannot afford the apartment? And he/she cannot even meet the properties minimum income requirements. Are there any extra charges for having to move out (break the lease)? Open Question: Two people sign a lease, one dies, what happens to the lease if the survivor cannot afford the apartment?
And he/she cannot even meet the properties minimum income requirements. Are there any extra charges for having to move out (break the lease)? What if a spouse goes to a nursing home and his/her income like SSI/pension has to go to the nursing home? No I am not the landlord. My husband and I are seniors. I worry about our health. While we like having a bigger apartment with our combined income, if one of us was gone, the other could make do with a studio apt. We are in Arizona (more...)
