Safe Trip Home
(Amazon.co.uk Review) Safe Trip Home, the third album from singer-songwriter Dido, sees the chanteuse cook up a slightly different ambience than on previous albums No Angel (1999) and Life for Rent (2003). Though her signature elements remain in place--the limited, slightly cracked falsetto; the dreamy, comforting trip-hop vibe--there seems to be an extra density to Safe Trip Home, doubtless provoked by the loss of her father in 2006. The added weight is predominantly in the lyrics, which tend to focus on loss and heartache, but there's extra detail and depth in the musicianship too, since Dido has been busy honing her skills as a multi-instrumentalist. Despite the denser themes, the music still drifts by in classic Dido style, moving smoothly through the insouciant “Don't Believe in Love", the aptly titled “Quiet Times", and “Never Want to Say It's Love", before arriving at the somber-yet-elegant six-minute standout “Grafton Street", co-written with Brian Eno and featuring Mick Fleetwood on drums. The rest of the album unfurls in similarly sophicticated fashion, featuring the folkish “Look No Further", the upbeat “Us 2 Little Gods", and a nine-minute poetic closer called “Northern Skies". Michael Bublé's assured debut and the tireless year of globe-trotting touring he spent promoting it elevated the 20-something Vancouver native into the first rank of pop crooner revivalists. His sophomore studio follow-up largely turns on the same formula that helped make his considerable vocal prowess so attractive to mainstream audiences, mixing the nigh flawless, if expected Sinatra-channeling ("I've Got You Under My Skin") with more playful and inviting renditions of pop standards like the Gershwin's "A Foggy Day in London Town," "Feeling Good," "Try A Little Tenderness" and Cole Porter's "I've Got You Under My Skin." But it's the eclectic mix of more contemporary material the singer seasons them with -- apt tribute to Bublé hero Bobby Darin -- that keeps him walking the narrow tightrope between artistic intrigue (a blues-tinged vamp of Holland-Dozier-Holland's "How Sweet It Is," Leon Russell's lovely "Song For You," with a guest turn by Chris Botti) and the kitsch-laden abyss ("Quando, Quando, Quando"'s Euro-centric duet with Nelly Furtado, a ring-a-ding-fling with the Beatles' "Can't Buy Me Love" that echoes fellow Canadian crooner/rival Matt Dusk's more successful flirtation with Lennon-McCartney). Cinderella (Disney Special Platinum Edition)
Disney's adaptation of the beloved fairy tale became a classic in its own right, thanks to some memorable tunes (including "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes," "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo," and the title song) and some endearingly cute comic relief. We all know the story--the wicked stepmother and stepsisters simply won't have it, this uppity Cinderella thinking she's going to a ball designed to find the handsome prince an appropriate sweetheart, but perseverance, animal buddies, and a well-timed entrance by a fairy godmother make sure things turn out all right. There are a few striking sequences of pure animation--for example, Cinderella is reflected in bubbles drifting through the air--and the design is rich and evocative throughout. It's a simple story padded here agreeably with comic business, particularly Cinderella's rodent pals (dressed up conspicuously like the dwarf sidekicks of another famous Disney heroine) and their misadventures with a wretched cat named Lucifer. There's also much harrumphing and exposition spouting by the King and the Grand Duke. It's a much simpler and more graceful work than the more frenetically paced animated films of today, which makes it simultaneously quaint and highly gratifying. --David Kronke

I'm stuck on a question.
The Westons planted a tree that they purchased at the nursery. Three years after planting the tree, it was 3.2 metres tall. Twelve years after planting the tree, it was 5.9 metres tall. The current height of Weston's tree varies partially with the number of years since they planted it, but it is also dependant on the height of the tree when they brought it home from the nursery. If "y" is the current heigh of the tree, and x is the number of years since it was planted find:
a) the equation of the partial variation
b) the height of the tree when they planted it

I am extremely picky but I am am desperate to lose weight. I am asking this question because I am having relationship problems along with. I am 5'8, 225 pounds. I have been with my boyfriend for a year and 4 months and for the past two months he has began to distance himself. I know he isn't cheating because he works then comes home to me, and I know weight is a big deal to some people. I have probably gaines 20 pounds in the year that we have been together.
I don't like many veggies.
I do like: corn, potatoes, oranges, hot dogs, hamburger, chicken, turkey, ham, pepperoni, pizza, all types of cheeses, strawberries, blackberries, cherries...Its hard to think of things. lol
I went on the atkins diet 2 years ago and lost 20 pounds in a month, but once you get off of it , you gain it right back.

I have a great relationship with a man from another country (Indonesia) but his work visa is almost up and he has to go back to his home country for 6 months or more. Has your spouse ever had to leave the country? How did you help him/her to come back to the States?

Open Question: ear infection now what?
On the 29th i went to the doctors with my son, he had an ear infection. The dr. gave me antibiotics for 10 days. Well, tomorrow the 8th would be his last day on it. I brought him today because he had a fever of 100.8. The doctor checked his ears and mouth and they both were fine. She told me i think he has pink eye cause his eyes were red and had water in them. I told her, He has slept all night and all day. So, of course they would be. So, anyway i came home and i gave him a bath. As, i was wiping him down i noticed on the tip of his pee pee a white tissue looking thing. I tired wiping off but wouldnt come off. I was wonder if this had anything to do with him not sleeping, eating, and being comfortable. Please help.

Open Question: HELP! My ipod won't turn on!?
Okay, so i've had my ipod nano (3rd generation, 8gb) since may of last year. when i went to school this morning it was working, and i turned it off before i went into my school. but when i came back home, it wouldn't turn on. at first i thought that it had gotten wet, but it didn't. so, then, i thought that it might need charging. i tried to charge it, but it won't even heat up or turn on. So, i went to the apple website, and i tried to reset it, it still won't work. one of the solutions was to download the latest version of itunes. i tried that and i just downloaded it, but my ipod still doesn't work. my friend said that her ipod touch had to get sent back to get worked on. if i send it back, will it cost money, or can i do it online? somebody PLEASE help! i CANNOT EVER go out of the house or do anything without my music ! please help! thank you!

Open Question: How Can I Strengthen My Finger Muscels?
I play a 15 year old soccer goal keeper and i need to strengthen my finger muscles. I do finger tip push ups but is there any other way to strengthening my finger muscles? Work outs that i could do at home would be great. Thanks!
