One wintry day a lonely stray cat named Tom wanders into the Royal Hotel. He chases mice so well that he is given the job of Hotel Cat. Tired of always spending time in the cellar, Tom ventures upstairs and meets the gentle Mrs. Wilkins, a longtime hotel resident who has the ability to communicate with cats. She encourages Tom to become less bossy and to keep an open mind about the hotel guests.

One night, during the winter of New York City’s Big Freeze, Tom detects three cats in one of the rooms. It turns out that due to a boiler breakdown in his house, Captain Tinker has brought Jenny Linsky and her brothers, Edward and Checkers, to stay at the hotel until the boiler is fixed. Other homes experience boiler breakdowns, too, and soon other members of the Cat Club can be found staying in rooms at the Royal Hotel. Before long, plans are underway for the Cat Club Stardust Ball, with the help of Tom, who has proved himself helpful and considerate after all. Soon he becomes a "friend forever" of Jenny and her pals.

This man's son is gorgeous and I wanna get talking to him! Okay, so I met this boy on holiday! He was absolutley gorgeous! But sadly he left before I got his number :(. He seemed to like me too, as I always used to catch him staring at me. So, on a holiday review website of the hotel I stayed at, one review caught my eye and I realised it was his mum and dad! :) There was an e-mail at the bottom so I did some detective work and entered the e-mail in to MySpace, Facebook and Bebo. Nothing came up for MySpace and Bebo, but it did for Facebook. I added his dad, and he accepted me, much to my suprise! :O I looked through his photos and saw one of his son. Which of the two hotels is a better pick? We will only be staying for a night but intend on spending the majority of the night in the room, so its important for the room to be perfect. They are both in the same price range and same area from what I understand. The Donovan seems to have a very nice view of the surrounding area where as the Palomar has no view from the rooms. But the Palomar has better reviews and the rooms look bigger from the websites of both hotels. Any opinions on which is more bang for your buck? (more...)

Rohitha has stated in the press that certain posts have been filled with "caretaker" diplomats until new corps can be trained but I wonder why there are newly created appointments at new venues staffed with persons without any diplomatic expertise and truly nepotistic connections? I would remind that for every overstep of power there is a remedy. When common sense is not a sensibility, a full accounting of diplomatic resources is neccesitated. This includes a full review of qualifications of the present and past diplomatic porfolio. I wither the thought of how some people achieved their thoughts on democratic diplomacy. Selective recollection of conversation is no excuse for prohibition of established procedures of good governance. http://www.lakbimanews.lk/news/laknew4.htm Just because we have had a protracted war on terrorism it does not mean that a fisticuff between and within the three branches is acceptable. I would hasten all those I spoke with to recall that the primary policy of Sri Lanka that was discussed was equal opportunity for growth, equal representation under the law, equal distribution of services, equal justice. I am sure that if a certain 24 year old son-in-law-to-be found himself party to an executable offense in the Middle East that the Foreign Ministry would be in an uproar, but I have to hear a query about 2 nationals that were executed yesterday. I am not commenting on Saudi legistlature, or the justice or injustice of such. My inquiry is rooted in the fact that the Ministry that oversees such affairs is apparently more interested in cocktail parties and junkets with golf club managers than it is in its citizens. The stability, policy and efficacy of a government cannot be based on whether the Chief Executive is in town. It cannot be based on created false tests to verify standards. It cannot be bantered or bartered about. I see much commendable development in Sri Lanka but future development will not be based on political posturing/jockeying it will be based on the fullfilment of the equitable goals to bring energy, quality education, due process, security and better quality of life to the many. It will not happen overnight and it cannot be fabricated, it must be grown-thus prefabrication is out of the question. There is no such thing as democracy-in-a-box, but the unruly behaviour that has spread throughout the world will be put in check, everywhere including Sri Lanka. What I am seeing in this article is the propogation of engineered foods, an item that is not a part of our domestic or foreign policy. The Ministries are to forward the National Policy not personal agenda. It is apparent that a National/International Policy Statement needs to be created by the Executive and the Cabinet. Line item #1 is to eliminate terrorism while maintaining sovreignity. Prior to making appointments consider the dis-appointments of misplaced placements. Furthermore, refrain from tete-a-tete's with foreign leaders in hotel rooms when there exists government accomodations for meetings that pertain to governmental affairs. Consider this my request to Nasheed for full divulgence to the Executive. Please pass my congratulations to Linda Spelenwade(sp?) my number is at the LA Consul and with the President's Secretary. This is to be a time of national pride - I ask all our citizens to cloak yourselves in our national identity. Its our flag and our country. (more...)

I am being sent to Mayo Clinic (not sure when yet, but soon) and was wondering what you think is the best hotel that is the closest to Mayo Clinic (walking distance with the sky walk/subway) so far looking at some reviews i think the best ones look like Radisson Plaza Hotel, Residence Inn, Marriott Rochester, or maybe the Kahler Inn and Suites... i don't really know though, so do you have any experience going to Mayo Clinic and staying at a hotel? what was the best? what is the newest/newest renovated? sorry for all of the questions! lol thank you in advance! =) (more...)
