Voting Question: Will a Christian counselor or therapist deal with problems in an interfaith situation fairly?
Or would they be biased toward/favor the Christian in the situation? I'm a polytheist and my mother is a Christian, recently converted. She's staying with me until she gets on her feet again. The other day she destroyed several of my holy objects and books, and we fought. We've since talked about it and she agreed to see a counselor or therapist with me to try and work on our relationship since her conversion, and especially since she desecrated my altar room. However, she says she will only go if the therapist is a Christian family counselor or therapist. Would such a therapist deal with the situation in an unbiased manner, or will they favor my mother or try to convert me? Does anyone have any experience with this sort of therapist as a non-Christian? For now my mother is still staying with me, but if anything happens again, I've told her she'll either have to stay with a friend, or I'll put her up in a hotel. She seems eager to fix things, but I can't help but wonder (cynically) if she thinks she might be getting help in trying to convert me. (more...)

Resolved Question: What happens when you're on a jury that has been sequestered in a high profile case?
Do they put you in a hotel / apartment complex? I know you're not supposed to watch tv or read news articles to stay unbiased... but can you talk with friends / family while your on jury duty? And do you know how long some of the longest ones have been? Any information you have would be really interesting =) I know these types of cases don't happen very often, I'm just really curious how the system works. (more...)

Resolved Question: Where is the best beach to go to in Texas in early August?
My boyfriend and I are planning to spend our 2nd year anniversary weekend on a nice beach trip. We just moved to Houston and right now we're weighing in on South Padre, Corpus Christi or Port Aransas. We need more information to make our decision- ones from actual experiences, please, and not just stuff we can find online. We're mid-20s, we like partying but not with college kids, and certainly not for this weekend. I'm hoping to see a decent beach and water, at the very least (disappointed with Galveston and Bryan Beach). If you can provide unbiased info and tips on beach/water quality, driving there, dining, accomodations, things to do and see, relevant rules/regulations, crowd type, etc., that would be very great. Some specific questions: Is it worth driving the extra miles to South Padre or is it just as good as the other two? Is it better to rent a beach house than stay at a hotel or are there other better options? Crowd: college kids/tourists/families/couples/others? (more...)

I am looking for hotel review web sites that give honest, unbiased, objective reviews of hotels. I know about websites like TripAdvisor.com, but have found that web site's to be unreliable. Are there any others whose reviews acturately reflect the sytle, quality, and service of the hotel ? Thanks. (more...)

Resolved Question: Where's the conservative outrage regarding "Death by Chocolate" desserts.?
Government bosses bite back at agency watchdogs By The Associated Press 12.28.06 WASHINGTON ? The inspectors general entrusted to unearth waste, fraud and abuse in federal agencies are increasingly under attack, as top government officials they scrutinize try to erode the watchdogs' independence and authority. During 2006, several inspectors general felt the wrath of government bosses or their supporters in Congress after investigations cited agencies for poor performance, excessive spending or wasted money. For instance: The top official of the government's property and supply agency compared its inspector general to a terrorist, hoping to chill audits of General Services Administration regional offices and private businesses. Directors of the government's legal aid program discussed firing their inspector general, who investigated how top officials lavishly spent tax dollars for limousine services, ritzy hotels and $14 "Death by Chocolate" desserts. Administration-friendly Republicans in Congress tried to do away with the special inspector general for Iraq, who repeatedly exposed examples of administration waste that cost billions of dollars. Among the contractors criticized was Halliburton Corp., once headed by Vice President Dick Cheney. The Pentagon has been making its inspector general use lawyers picked by the defense secretary instead of independently hired attorneys. "It's hard to believe that the government is serious about policing itself when it's whacking the people who are actually minding the store," said Danielle Brian, executive director of the Project On Government Oversight, a nonpartisan group that tracks government waste and fraud. "These people are our security officers who help guard tens of billions of dollars. It's ridiculous to prevent them from doing their jobs." Sean Kevelighan, spokesman for the White House Office of Management and Budget, says the Bush administration counts on "independent and unbiased views" of the watchdogs and is willing to intervene in any disputes. "If and when there are times where intervention is necessary, the administration will do so to ensure all the parties are educated about one another's roles and the importance of maintaining a productive relationship ? and a healthy respect for the responsibilities of all involved," he added. When GSA Inspector General Brian Miller's team intensively audited the agency's regional offices, he ran into strong resistance from agency administrator Lurita Doan. A business owner, Doan suggested some auditing functions be taken away from the watchdog and given to small businesses. "There are two kinds of terrorism in the U.S.: the external kind and internally, the IGs have terrorized the regional administrators," she told Miller and his staff on Aug. 18. http://www.firstamendmentcenter.org/news.aspx?id=17939 (more...)

Resolved Question: What is the US government hiding?
I'd like to bring up Loose Change (1st link below). This is an unbiased source of information and scientific evidence regarding 9/11 and our "war on terrorism". There is no negativity or slander, just facts. It only raises questions that for some odd reason the government won't answer (nothing wrong with questions) as well as a must see. IF THE GOVERNMENT HAS NOTHING TO HIDE THEN WHY WON'T THEY RELEASE VIDEOTAPES POINTING DIRECTLY AT THE SIDE OF THE PENTAGON THAT GOT HIT, RECORDED BY A NEARBY GAS-STATION/HOTEL? WHY WON'T THEY SPEAK UNDER OATH? When Bush and Cheney were requested to be interviewed INDIVIDUALLY for the 9/11 commission report they would not allow that. They had several terms that the commission had to meet just to get them to agree to show up. When Bush and Cheney met with the 9/11 Commission, they did so only on their own terms: -They appeared together -They were not under oath -No press or family members were allowed to attend -No recording of any kind was allowed -No transcript was allowed Why wouldn't they come individually(so they don't mix up their stories?)? Why did they say they would not attend if they had to be under oath (making it ok to lie?) ? Page 172 of the 9/11 commission report: To date, the U.S. government has not been able to determine the origin of the money used for the 9/11 attacks. Ultimately the question is of little practical significance." (3rd link below) "Doesn't it matter who paid for 9/11?", why would they ignore who funded it? In front of an audience: -Reporter: "Mr. President why are you and the vice president insisting on appearing together before the 9/11 commission?" -Bush: "Because 9-commission- 9/11 commission wants to ask us questions that's why meeting and I look forward to meeting them and answering their questions uh-" -Reporter: "I was asking why you're appearing together rather than separately which was their request" -Bush: "Because it's a good chance for both of us to answer questions, that the 9/11 commission is uh, looking forward to asking us and I am looking forward to answering them...let's see." Featured in Zeigeist: "Do you think they should be able to stand up and speak their own words? They should go under oath. Ya, in public." -Reporter Adam? Speaking with Bush: "Don't you think that the families deserve to have a transcript or to be able to see what you sa"-(cut off by Bush) -Bush: "Hehe, Adam you asked me that that question yesterday (Adam tries to ask: "What's your answer today" but is cut-off), I got the same answer ya." (This directly conflicts with the terms that Bush required be met) Also featured in zeitgeist. "The final report was a unanimous report. That means that there was a single commissioner who had any objection about anything, that fact would be dropped from the report." "We had found out that he not only served on the transition team of the Bush administation, that he was a person that who wrote a draft memo for the setup of the Bush administration's national security council, that he was an individual who wrote the preemptive war strategy that was eventually used for the war in iraq, that he is a close friend of Condoleezza Rice's... we want him to resign." Philip Zelikow was the Commission Director mentioned just above in the statement after this one: "There is literally nothing in the 9/11 report that the Bush administration did not approve of." "We can understand therefore why the commission under Zelikow's leadership would have ignored all the evidence that would point to the truth, that 9/11 was a false flag operation intended to authorize the doctrines and funds needed for a new level of imperial mobilization." There are plenty of suspicions involving our current government. Most people choose to ignore them because they believe the government couldn't POSSIBLY do anything so horrible... Think again. If they have nothing to hide, then why are they hiding key-information from us? All they have to do is answer some questions, release some evidence, some videotapes... and all of us "conspiracy theorists" will go away. But if they did that... then the world would know it was all a lie created by them, and they're not interested in getting caught or being punished. This only scratches the surface folks... I suggest watching Loose Change (1st link below) and Zeitgeist (4th link). If you have nothing to hide then expose yourself. You as a citizen of the US are entitled to privacy, the government is not a citizen. Why should they hide information from us? I could understand if it were top-secret intelligence that falling into the "wrong hands" could leave us "open to attacks" cause negative attention etc etc etc etc etc ETC... The only negativity that could possibly come out of releasing that information, is that they are caught red-handed. STOP THE GOVERNMENT FROM HIDING THIS INFORMATION FROM US http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7866929448192753501&q=loose+change&total=2635&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0 http://www.tvnewslies.org/html/9_11_facts.html http://www.faqs.org/docs/911/911Report-189.html http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ PLEASE take the time to actually read the information, watch the videos, do your own research on this topic (if you actually care about your country you wouldn't mind doing so) or else you fall into the category of the ignorant US citizen that contributes to this own country's demise! @ Bryan Loose Change mentions nothing about what political parties they side with, their personal views on Bush, their take on religion, what is biased? That they raise questions about what is going on? Biased toward obtaining the truth? Watch Zeitgeist ( http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ ) and you'll understand a biased take on 9/11 and the US government. Just thought I'd add a video of Alex Jones (huge spokesman for seeking the truth) being arrested for asking George Bush a question regarding the Federal Reserve Bank during a Bush Rally in 1998. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2952201991602701120 Foreshadowing fascism? Can't even ask a question? He even predicted the attacks based on his evidence before 9/11 even happened. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8116395518760933323&q=alex+jones+predict&hl=en Bush is turning this country into fascism! You CAN'T EVEN PROTEST THE WAR ANYMORE! HE HAS MADE AN EXECUTIVE ORDER MAKING IT ILLEGAL TO PROTEST THE WAR! http://winnipeg.indymedia.org/item.php?5608S "In one of his most chilling moves to date against his own citizens, the American War Leader has issued a sweeping order this week outlawing all forms of protest against the Iraq war" @LastKingStanding LastKing... I understand what you're saying, which is exactly what I was trying to point out.... BUT Please explain how releasing the videotapes taken by secret service pointing directly at the pentagon where it was struck could "reveal ways that could lead to greater attempts to exploit the defenses" You want to talk about having our defenses exploited? Bush wants to remove the borders of the US ( http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=14965 ). Remove the US borders, or release a tape? I think everyone would much rather have the tape released than leaving the whole country open, so why is Bush acting so suspiciously? (more...)
