I live in northern Idaho. It is my first year here and we've had about 70 inches of snow. Just when I thought things were bad, it warmed up and is raining, which melting the snow and revealing packed ice beneath. It is so slippery in my driveway, I can barely stand, although the streets around town are okay. My driveway also goes down from the street to my house, so I have to back up in ice to get out of the driveway, which just doesn't work. I have a front wheel drive vehicle with regular tires. I just want to make it through the winter this year and then maybe next year I'll have money for snow tires. I plan on parking in the street until the ice is completely melted, but what if I get stuck in ice on the street? What is the best method for getting out of ice if you are stuck? I had no problem with the snow...just dig myself out, but the ice seems impossible... Okay, now what if the ice is too thick for the de-icer to work? (more...)

We lived in Idaho and my husband left me and my son for another woman. At that time I had no where to go because I couldn't afford our rent by myself and my husband took our only car.I had a job but I wasn't making enough to survive on my own.I took it really hard when he left me so my sister flew me and my son down to California since my whole family lives in Cali. I've been here for 2 months and I'm planning on moving back to Idaho to get a house with my very close friend who just filed for divorce also. I've asked my husband to start the divorce process since he can afford it and I can't, but he still hasn't filed. Anyways, our son is living with me and my husband hasn't sent us any money to help with his diapers/food/medicine or anything even though I've asked (I'm in the process of trying to get child support) Today he emailed me and said he is claiming head of household and child credit because he needs the money more than I do to pay for his bills...also, his job doesn't take anything out from his paychecks for taxes He will most likely get his w2's before I can get mine My question is, Is he allowed to claim child credit when our son is living with me? also, is there any way I can file my taxes without my w2s? and, is there any way I can prevent him from claiming our son? and last, is he allowed to go to H&R Block and claim my son without my sons social security card? A while ago I bought a 1996 Chrysler Sebring LXi (Coupe not convertible) and it had a few issues but what car doesn't, I got all the kinks out except a few issues with the passenger window, I took a pretty long trip to Idaho and found out that I have a bad vacuum modular sucking trany fluid into my engine, so I burned it all pretty much going there and back, refilled it and everything seemed cool, then one day it wouldn't start, the radio worked, fan everything like that, it's a brand new battery, so I figured it's probably the starter, then today I tried for the heck of it and it started. My question is, do you think I have a faulty starter, or could it be my distributor cap? My grandpa said it could be the cap, that or some bad battery wires.. I dunno it's been starting okay, I've just heard that a lot of heat and shaking can damage a cap. (more...)

our congress just handed a bail out deal to the auto manufacturer's and also to the real estate magnates who started and perpetuated this whole financial fiasco to begin with. in the order of billions of tax payer dollars with out any regard to the general populace. what i mean is how does giving billions of dollars to the auto manufacturer's help sell cars if the citizens cannot buy them how does giving billions of dollars put workers back on assembly line if no one can purchase manufactured goods or products. if our congress was smart then they would realize that for only a few hundred million dollars rather than 25 billion they could turn our economy around in a few months rather than a few years. by giving the taxpayer back what is rightfully theirs to begin with. if our congress gave every registered taxpayer $50,000.00 then almost all of the citizens would be out of debt. the sales of luxury items would go through the roof and put millions of people back to work. giving most of us a chance at starting over allowing truckers who couldn't repair their vehicles to do so,people who didn't have the money to buy stock's or bonds would. the turn around would be almost instant, putting money back into states and local economies most importantly it would put people back to work. i realize some people would say why not a hundred thousand or a million, be cause that kind of money back to the people would lead to absolut chaos with no one going back to work, people trying to control other peoples money ... the court system would be virtually shut down and nothing would get produced. most americans total debt isnt more than twenty or so thousand dollars, so if our congress bailed the people out with a $50,000.00 stimulus package then most of us would be debt free we would be able to buy and purchase all kinds of products and even be abale to give something to out favored charities and other programs. the revenue created from sales taxes would put the money back into the national treasury and eeven if we had to pay a small 5 or 6% tax on that kind of stimulus package it would more than aptly jump start our ecomomy. rather than waiting for fannie may, chrysler, ford or g.m.c. to stategise and reconfigure thier market stategies whilst sipping mai- tais in hawaii. which is probably exactly whet our senetors and representatives want anyway so that they can get back to having brand new cars donated to thier campaign mangers and free time share in the bahamas!! thats my take..what do you think ?? by the way i wrote a simular letter to sentor mike crapo of idaho and all i got was a form letter reply. if you agree with this idealistic view i urge you to e-mail your representative or congressman. Okay so I live in Missouri and I really don't like it. I wanna be an actress and living in the midwest really is a damper on that job selection. I'm coming back home for a semester from college so I can save up money and go to a better college than now. I'm 18 years old and I'm finishing up my first college semester. I found out yesterday that my parents are going to stop paying for my car, phone, and contacts. They're going to charge me rent to live there as well. I really don't know what to do because I have to pay for school too and I have to save up money for college as well. There's no way to afford all of those things. My grandparents live in Idaho and said that they would have no problem having me stay with them, they'd give me a new car and would support me. I've made a life here and have some great friends (even if they bug me sometimes) but I'm so miserable here I really think I should go but I don't know if I'm just thinking all of this on impulse. Help please, this is really stressful and a huge life decision. What do you guys think? (more...)
