Resolved Question: Does the Obama administration have the Constitutional...?
...authority to dictate to the states their educational curriculum? I'm speaking about his community service proposal for high school students regarding their graduation requirements. Sense when did the fed have constitutional authority over "state" sponsored public education? I know in the state of Idaho parents have a terrific amount of say in what their children both learn & do regarding classes & activities in public education.
Sense there is no state mandated unions in Idaho, both the teachers & education administration either "cut the mustard" or are fired/voted out by the constituency, period. Are the unions in other states what give the fed the power to dictate policy???
And what about private, non public institutions of education? Sense they are not publicly funded, the fed most certainly would be out of Constitutional bounds regarding ANY dictation of agenda.
I know that president Obama's proposal is just that at current, a proposal. If his proposal is pushed towards legislation at a further date though, would this not be infringement on both state & private institutions of learning? And, what about the ultimate authority on what their children learn & participate in, the parents themselves?
E=MC2...WELL SAID!!! That's quite a rogues gallery of criminals that you posted there. Dump the repubs/dems, vote Libertarian or other Constitutionally based 3rd parties!
Anna P... That was a product of the Bushwhacker administration, what could you expect from that whorehouse of debauchery???
Spiveyra... You hit the nail square on the head there big daddy!
Greenisg...Check out my reply to Anna P.
LPW IV...What does personal belief have to do with education? There are people that believe we came from aliens planting us on earth. There are people that believe the human race had no beginning as humanity has & always will be. Others believe we evolved from rocks, while others believe we were created by a super intelligence.
Heck, the science community is promoting the possibility that mankind & our entire surrounding continuum is a negative aberration of a positive continuum & that we are only separated by dimensions from our "whole" selves.
Like, who cares? If the state intervenes in the teaching of creationism why could it not intervene in the teaching of YOUR individual Constitutionally guaranteed rights? Best rethink your answer as it's YOUR individual rights on the chopping block!!!
Apparently, Idahoians told the feds to "stick it" regarding the "cash bribe".

Voting Question: College Credits: Very confused.?
Hi, my college path at the moment is very confusing and I don't have anyone available to help clear everything up.
I started at a community college in 2007 and I applied for a transfer degree in Business Administration.
At WCC (the college above) I completed Fall and Winter Quarters and did not complete Spring. Therefore I have earned half a year of credit?
I did not complete Spring quater because I am studying abroad in Germany and during that time I had to work and work and work to pay off school costs. WCC did not support any study abroad programs to Germany so I had to enroll and was accepted at the University of Idaho. All the credits I earn here (in Germany) should transfer back to the University of Idaho.
Here is the first area where I am confused. Did my credits transfer from WCC to the UI? (How can I find out?)
The next part is where it gets more confusing. I am applying to the American University in Cairo (AUC) and even though I have never set foot on the University of Idaho campus, is it now my home university? I need to know what to fill out on my addmissions form.
To make matters more complicated. I am staying another semester here in Germany, I have an Arabic course set up. When I return to the states for Summer before studying in Egypt, I am very determined to find another Arabic course to further prep me.
I want to take the intensive Arabic course at the University of Washington (UW) offered this Summer Quarter (2009), as well as other courses towards my Business Administration Degree. How would I go about enrolling to the UW? As transfer student or freshman?
I am going to obtain my actual BA in BUSAD at the AUC... but in the future I would like to follow it up with a MA at the UW later...
All that being said, I am very confused, I know the direction I want to go but getting there has me utterly lost. Where are my credits at? If I enroll to the UW in the Summer before I study at AUC does this now make the UW my home university? Can anyone explain to me the steps I should take the get to what I'm trying to do?
Thanks for your time, I know its a lot to read.

Voting Question: Probability Question - Help needed!?
1 In a remote community in Idaho, 48 percent of the families own a dog and 26 percent of the families that own a dog also own a cat. In addition, 32 percent of the families own a cat.
Letting C = owns a cat and D = owns a dog, and using Prob(C&D) = Prob(C|D) x Prob(D), what is the Prob(C&D)?
Your answer should be a percentage with no decimal points, e.g., 37%.
#2 In a remote community in Idaho, 48 percent of the families own a dog and 26 percent of the families that own a dog also own a cat. In addition, 32 percent of the families own a cat.
Letting C = owns a cat and D = owns a dog, and using Prob(D|C) = Prob(C&D) / Prob(C), (and, you just figured out Prob(C&D), what is Prob(D| C)?
Your answer should be a percentage with no decimal points, e.g., 37%.

Resolved Question: Why do Conservative Christian communities seem to produce the most hate groups?
When you hear about all the really bad incidents that followed Obama's election, just about all took place in conservative communities and states that pride themselves on how Christian they are. And when you look up the location of hate groups they also seem to thrive in these type of places like Idaho and Texas.
These folk claim to go to church every sunday and learn about love and peace and joy from the bible. How does hate and bigotry come out of that?

Resolved Question: is it ok to go to an out of state college?

Resolved Question: A Guy in New Jersey Suing a Guy in Idaho ....?
I wrote a question earlier, buy got some info wrong. Here's what is happening ....
About a year ago I sold a business training package on Ebay. The buyer paid me $1500 through Paypal. He lives in New Jersey and I live in Idaho. The buyer received my training package digitally, via email download. He has even acknowledged that the information was "very interesting and intriguing", blah blah blah. I have the email proof that he sent me that shows this. Anyway, he evidently never did anything with the training materials, and I never heard anything more from him after a month or so.
In March of this year (8 months ago), he had a law firm in New Jersey draft a letter to send me stating that he wanted a refund because he "never received what he purchased", and that I was to contact the BUYER, not the law firm (so it sounds to me like he just paid them to write the letter). I ignored the letter and dismissed this.
Now, 8 months later, I received another letter in the mail from this law firm stating that the buyer told them that I ignored the last letter, and basically I better pay up or else the buyer will file a law suit against me and take whatever legal matters necessary. And that I should, once again, contact the buyer directly to settle this matter.
I am considering contacting the buyer to just see if he needs further assistance getting the business opportunity rolling, etc., but my question is whether or not he can sue me in New Jersey, or whether he needs to come to Idaho to serve me, etc.
I read up a little on New Jersey small claims court law, but I was hoping that someone out there might be able to lend a little insight.
Again, he's in New Jersey, I'm in Idaho, the transaction took place digitally online as a result of an Ebay transaction and was paid for thru Paypal.
I feel pretty confident that I can show that he took posession of the materials, as he stated so himself, so I'm not too concerned with this.
Again, just wanted a little insight from the ever-friendly Yahoo community.
Thanks in advance folks!

Resolved Question: Religion in the constitution preventing equality?
...what do you say to this? I know it's completely ridiculous and wrong on so many levels but.. it left me baffled.
"The signers of the Constitution recognized that all rights granted to men by the Constitution were those that were granted by the Creator. Homosexuality is an act against God, and therefore is not protected by our Constitution.
United States Supreme Court stated in 1884: "that all men are endowed" - not by edicts of emperors or decrees of parliament, or acts of Congress, but "by their Creator with certain inalienable rights and that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
The freedoms granted by our Constitution were understood by the signers to be granted to a people who submitted to the laws of God. "Equality" did not mean that acts against God were allowed for an individuals' happiness to occur.
There were no exceptions granted for sexual preferences.
In 1890, the United States Supreme Court, in the case of The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints V. United States, Justice Stephen Field, who had been appointed by President Abraham Lincoln stated: "Bigamy and polygamy are crimes by the laws of all civilized and Christian countries. They are crimes by the laws of the United States and they are crimes by the laws of Idaho. They tend to destroy the purity of the marriage relation, to disturb the peace of families...To extend exemption from punishment for such crimes would be to shock the moral judgement of the community...The constitutions of several States, in providing for religious freedom, have declared expressly that such freedom shall not be construed to excuse acts of licentiousness..."
In 1986 in the case of Bowers v. Hardwick, Chief Justice Warren E. Burger delivered the court's decision censuring the act of sodomy:
"Condemnation of those practices is firmly rooted in Judeo-Christian moral and ethical standards. Sodomy was a criminal offense at common law and was forbidden by the laws of the original 13 States when they ratified the Bill of Rights. In 1868, when the Fourteenth Amendment was ratified, all but five of the 37 States in the Union had criminal sodomy laws. In fact, until 1961, all 50 states outloawed sodomy...provid(ing) criminal penalties for sodomy performed in private between consenting adults."

Resolved Question: Who do you think will make a better leader in 2012 for the Republicans? Bobby Jindal or Sarah Palin?
Sarah Palin's education:
In 1982, she enrolled at Hawaii Pacific College but left after her first semester. She transferred to North Idaho community college, where she spent two semesters as a general studies major. From there, she transferred to the University of Idaho for two semesters.[11][12] During this time Palin won the Miss Wasilla Pageant,[13][14] then finished third in the 1984 Miss Alaska pageant,[15][16] at which she won a college scholarship and the "Miss Congeniality" award.[8] Afterwards, Palin attended the Matanuska-Susitna community college in Alaska for one term. The next year she returned to the University of Idaho where she spent three semesters completing her Bachelor of Science degree in communications-journalism, graduating in 1987.[
Bobby Jindal's education:
Jindal attended Brown University, graduating with honors in biology and public policy[7]. Although he had thought of a career in medicine or law and was accepted by Harvard Medical School and Yale Law School, he chose to pursue a political career. He received a master's degree in political science from New College, Oxford, as a Rhodes Scholar
Personally I think the GOP's greatest hope lies with Bobby Jindal. He is articulate, intelligent and doesn't resort to lies and smears as Sarah did.

Resolved Question: If McCain doesn't make it through his entire term, who impresses you more?

Resolved Question: What does education mean to McCain supporters?
The facts are plain and easy to find, how is it that people can frown upon the educated while exalting the underachievers? Should we not yearn for exceptionality in a leader, rather than commonality? Perhaps it explains the demographic McCain/Palin rallies seem geared towards.
McCain: US Naval Acadamy, Annapolis Ranked 894/899
Palin: Hawaii Pacific College, 1 semester / North Idaho Community, 2 semesters / University of Idaho BA in Communications
Obama: Columbia U. BA Political Science & International Relations / Harvard Law School Juris Doctor magna cum laude
Biden: Delaware U. BA History & Political Science / Syracuse U. Juris Doctor
I'd like to hear an argument against having educated people running the country.
It's not just 'going to college' it's excelling at college. Very differant things. McCain/Palin WENT to college, Obama and Biden EXCELLED in college.
