My Own Private Idaho
My Own Private Idaho Gus Van Sant's often-beautiful 1991 film stars River Phoenix as a narcoleptic, Seattle male prostitute and Keanu Reeves as the rich friend who agrees to help him find his mother. After a solid hour or so of the two traveling on this quest through Idaho and Italy, Van Sant throws a wrench into the works by conjuring a gay version of Shakespeare's Henry IV, Part I, with Reeves's character as Prince Hal and filmmaker William Richert (who directed Phoenix in the 1988 Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon) as a variation on Falstaff. The experiment is interesting to watch, but you can't help wondering what on earth happened to the movie. Still, the film has a cult status one can't argue with, and Phoenix gives a tragic performance that stays in the memory. --Tom Keogh

Resolved Question: My husband is deploying Jan. 15 and Im pregnant?
We just found out that we are pregnant and my husband is deploying to Quatar for 6 months and Im scared to do this alone. I will be having the baby late July early August and I don't want to be alone and I can't go home(Idaho) I live in Texas right now and I can't afford too and my family can't stay with me either. I was trying to get a job but no one here wants to hire and Im new to the whole military wife thing and know no one here and Im having such a hard time with this. Has anyone dealt with this or something similar and if you did what did you do. O and by the way I have 3 dogs and I walk them and that takes my mind off of things but doctors and everything all by myself I just can't do. (more...)

I live in Thailand and my father became very sick.He is or was very old.I lost my cell so my # had to change.All my #'s were lost.My brothers house burned down.So he lost his home phone and we were not to close so I didn't know his cell #.My sister gave up her home phone for a cell.I lost her # and cannot contact her at her job.All of my old friends have moved away.I have no idea of how to find out how my father is doing or if he has passed away.What can I do?He lived in Nampa or Caldwell Idaho.I am not sure because I think he may have changed hospitals.I am worried sick about it.What can a person do to find out if he died? I own a home in Idaho. Because the job market is what it is, I have accepted a temporary postion, basing me in Nevada. I return to my home in Idaho once a month, sometimes more (have had 2 interviews for permanent postions so I can come home). How do I prove this to the state of Idaho, that while my job and majority of residence is in Nevada, I am, and always will be an Idahoan? (more...)

Resolved Question: Haven't lived either place long enough (or too long to file?) Nevada, Idaho, California?
My husband and I have lived in Idaho for 5 years. He moved to California (supposedly to work) in June. I got a job in Northern California in October, but I chose to live in Nevada as the housing options were far better. I am ready to file for divorce but I am STUCK. -Idaho says you have to live there the last 6 weeks. (I still a home there, not sure if I claim dual residency with that one) -Nevada won't touch a divorce that involves minor children for 6 months -California will do it since he has lived there for 6 months, but the minute it is filed an order goes in effect saying neither parent can remove the child from the state. He is an alcoholic and his behavior has become erratic and threatening, he has gone as far as writing a suicide note that he did not follow through on, nor do we believe he planned on doing so. He is now using his repossession agent contacts and resources to track me down wherever we go. He implies threats, but never actually makes them. I am concerned for the safety of myself and my daughter, but cannot get a protective order without the divorce at least filed as we are married and he has not made any direct threats, Any suggestions? This is the verbiage from the Nevada divorce complaint packet: "A child, or the children, MUST be a resident, or residents, of the State of Nevada for a period in excess of six (6) MONTHS before the State of Nevada can enter any orders regarding custody, or visitation, of the child or children. This is STATE and FEDERAL LAW. If the child, or children, are not residents of the State of Nevada for a period of more than six (6) months immediately prior to the filing of the Petition or Complaint, the State of Nevada has no jurisdiction over orders regarding the children." Resolved Question: Minor In Consumption (Idaho)?
I am 19 and got a MIC at the house I was living at during that time. The cops never came inside and after seeing my boyfriend arrested outside on the lawn, I started to walk out on the porch and the second i set my foot outside the officer gave me a breathalyzer test. I blew twice thinking that in all the choas that it would work in my favor somehow, it didnt. I dont remember exactly what i blew but it was very low. I admitted to drinking a cup and the officer gave me a Minor in Consumption ticket. My boyfriend told me to plead not guilty and my court date is coming up.(It was issued for 3-4 months after the ticket was issued, on my birthday no less!) I am now not sure what I can do to help this go in my favor, if anything at all. I was at my home, not driving or even outside. Should I change my plea? Thanks! (more...)

Voting Question: to get into foster care?
i am 15, and i am very unhappy at home. my parents treat me very unfairly. they hit me with coat hangers, towels, and threaten to do many things. my dad smashes and breaks things. it hurts alot emotionally, and i hate it. i have talked to my school counselor about this, and she says it's not enough to be taken out. idk. in 6th grade i was placed into a foster home for nothing that big, or involving any abuse or anthing i did, and the family i was with was very very loving, and i finally got to experience some happiness with a family. i live in boise idaho. does anyone know a website, or someone in the agencies that i could email or somethign about this with?? what are the requirements to get into a foster home? pleaseeee help. i really really appreciate it. Resolved Question: how do i dispute a speeding too fast for conditions ticket?
i live in idaho and we just got hit with 3 feet of snow in 48 hours, i was on my way home only driving about 20mph in a 35mph and i was approaching a stop light and started pumping on my breaks so i could slow down in enough time but i obviously didn't, i ended up rear ending this big GMC truck that had a trailor hitch and it went right into my bumper, i had no other damage other than the hitch hole. it wasnt a reportable accident but the guy still called the cops and i got a ticket for "speeding to fast for conditions"!! i have a lancer and it is only 2 wheel drive so there was only so much i could do since i was trying to be as cautious as possible. i want to fight this ticket b/c it was practically out of my hands and i wasnt breaking the law. the next day on the news they kept saying that if you get in a wreck to not call the cops unless there is an injury or if there is major damage but yet i got a ticket the night before...think you could help me out at all?
