Resolved Question: What are my rights as a renter?
My rental agency has been bad from the start. First they kept telling me I could move in on a certain date only to keep pushing it back. My rental had a bunch of repairs left when I moved in and it's like pulling teeth to get anything done. They are currently renovating an adjacent apartment and I came home one day to find a door connecting my apartment to the other apartment. They said this is for fire code. The only way I would feel comfortable with this is if the door had a lock on it, which would defeat the purpose of it being there for fire code. The maintenance guy also comes and goes without notifying me first. I don't know what my rights are at this point -- I honestly want to move out but I have 7 months left on my contract. What can I do? I live in Idaho, by that way, if that makes a difference. (more...)

Resolved Question: Is it legal for a landlord to do this?
My lease expires Dec 31, 2008. At previous expirations, three months before hand my landlord would ask me to let them know if I intended to renew or not, but I did not have sign my new lease before the old expired. I must give 30 days notice when I move out, whether or not my lease is expiring. Today, I got a notice from my landlord that they are raising my rent almost $200 in January and that I must renew my lease by Oct. 15 or I will have to move out. Currently, the rent is $550, and they are raising it to $720. Most of the rentals in my area (Rexburg, Idaho) have waiting lists and won't be able to let me know if they can give us an apartment until the end of Nov, beginning of Dec. So I feel like my current landlord is trying to rush us so as to trap us in this higher rent (which is now a ridiculous amount for the area - most apartments are much nicer and cheaper than $700, the only reason we stayed in this dump was because it was cheaper). If I sign the new lease to start Jan 1, but then move before January anyways, they will keep my $300 security deposit. I know raising the rent is legal. I'm more concerned with, is it legal for them to try and force me to renew my contract almost 3 months before it expires? Hm, don't know who's doing all the thumbing down, I sure haven't. I am sure about only losing the $300 deposit. My current lease says that if we cancel the lease prior to the first day of the contract (which would be Jan. 1), we only lose the security deposit. But if we cancel the contract after the first day, we are liable for 3-months of rent. I haven't seen the new lease, but my next door neighbor says it's the same one with new rental amount written in (they already resigned). (more...)

Resolved Question: Will an address error in a rental contract negate it?
We are currently renting a place in idaho and the address is listed as 2112 in the contract instead of 2114 (he owns both). We are having to break the year lease to move across state (work) and the landlord might want to play hardball with the housing decline, will this address error in the contract negate it? I am trying to be honest, i have given him the security deposit and paid october when im moving out on the 6th, like i said i think he wants to play hardball, im not even sur hell try hard to rent it after i leave town. Resolved Question: Anyone know the range in prices for lift tickets at mountian region ski resorts?
I am planning a road trip across the country this winter and I am trying to find out the general cost of one-day lift tickets (not rental or lodging: just lift ticket) in places like Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, California, and Idaho and surrounding areas. Resolved Question: Is there a three day rule when it comes to property rental?
My friend signed a rental agreement today and gave the property owner $800. Within an hour the property owner began adding oral stipulations to the property agreement and my friend decided that renting from this person would not work out, she asked for her money back and the owner told her that he is keeping it as first months rent. This is in Idaho. Does anyone know if there is anything on the books covering my friend?s situation? (more...)

Resolved Question: What Color of Clarinet Should I Get My Daughter?
She's going into sixth grade she plays the clarinet. Are check didn't go through to Hoffman's so we are going to just buy her one. Her school colors are White and Purple but when she goes into junoir high the colors are Yellow and Green but when she goes into high school the colors are Purple and Gold so i don't know what color to get her. Her favorite color is pink but we can't find any pink ones. and we don't want white because it doesn't stand out. We do want a color that stands out but it can't be bright as in like neon. So if you know a website or a music store in Idaho that we can get a colored one (preferablly pink) That would be great! Just it cannot be Seidel's that's where we got the rental. (more...)

Resolved Question: Am I in a rental lease in Idaho if the landlord/property manager messed up on the dates?
I'm was in a year lease when the lease was up march 31 08 we decided at the time to sign other year lease with our rent staying the same. We just found out we need to move out (3 months after the lease was up) of state due to my job. Well the property manager said sorry messed up on the dates resign and send back to asap. He never changed the year to 09. So with this am i bound to this contract or can i not sign the new contract and just give a 30 day? (more...)
