Resolved Question: Is 3 months enough to find the love of my life and marry him in the US?
I will be in the US for 3 months as a tourist. And I'd like to get marry too. I'm 30 years old and always wanted to live in the US. It's time for me to get married and I thought an American would be perfect (so I can also stay in the country I love the most on planet Earth)
I wanted to stay 6 months in the US (I have enough savings) but apparently I will only be able to stay 3 months with the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) and it's not possible to extend that visa.
So what do you think?
Is 3 months enough?
If I don't find the love of my life in the US, I can go to Canada after the 3 months since I have a work permit for Canada.
But I just like the US better. And I work in healthcare, I have a US professional certification for the career I want in the US but in Canada they would require ANOTHER certification, a canadian certification which is very long and I'm not sure I will be able to get it (part of their requirements is a little different than usual). So the US is just better for me.
And I wouldn't take any job away from an American because the career I want is in high demand right now especially in the states I wanna live (Washington state, Idaho, or Oregon). They can't find enough American for that job especially in smaller cities.
What would you advise me?
I've tried the work visas but I wasn't lucky.
I tried the J visa and found several employers but it turned out that it wouldn't be possible because the healthcare position that I want requires more insurance than usual and then my sponsor for the J visa couln'd do it. It's too complicated for them.
The H1B could be possible but there are about 3 times more requests for that visa than the cap.
If I apply today, I would have to wait until.... October 2009 to begin to work and that is if I'm lucky enough to get picked in the lucky draw.
And I don't wanna count on luck. I've been playing the green card lottery visa for almost 10 years and never won.
The only visa I got was a J1 " work and travel" visa when I was a student. This was when I was a student and I was able to work in the US for 4 months. It was great. But I can't have that visa anymore since I'm not a student anymore.

Resolved Question: Need a day trip Idea for Idaho to Canada.?
My family, me, hub, 11 & 4 year old girls, will be in Coeur d'Alene May 16-19 for a soccer tournament. They don't last all day, so I thought we could drive up to Canada and see what there is to see.
We can use these highways:
395, 25, 31 or 95.
It's about a 2 hour drive there, so is there anything to do or see across the border. It is really just to say we crossed the border and throw a few tourist dollars at Canada.
Thanks!
