Open Question: Get answers from millions of real people.?
my son had made a decision to give his bulldog to a adoption agency due to the fact that he was required to work lots of overtime and he felt it wasn't fair to the dog to be alone so much.....my son moved to a new apartment that is about 1 mile away from his work so now he feels he can go home on his lunch and spend time with his dog.....the dog is still available, but the agency refuses to give the dog back and has him up for adoption for $300...is their anything my son can do to get him back...he loves this dog dearly and found a way to spend more time with him....the shelter said even if my son applied to adopt the dog... they would turn him down due to the reason he gave the dog up in the first place....is thier anything my son can do to get his dog back? any help would be much appreciated!!

Resolved Question: should i be getting paid time and a half for overtime?
i work at a little gas station in a small town in missouri. its the only gas station for 20 miles. we make at least $3500 a day. i usually work 44 hours a week. my employer says that they are not required by law to pay me overtime because they are a small business. a friend of mine said that if they make $500,000 or more in annual sales they are required by law to pay employees overtime. if you do the math they do a lot more than $500,000 a year.

Resolved Question: My parents "don't have time for me"?
I am a sixteen year old girl who has recently decided to get homeschooled due to medical reasons. It took a very long time to convince my parents that homeschooling is the best choice for me and they decided to wait until the last minute to make the decision, last minute meaning that my straights A-B grades on my report cards were now C-D-F's.
I will admit now that I am home ... I feel a lot better and I can do my school work on my own schedule without being pressured but then there are downsides. Being at home all of the time can be a tad boring and I can not go anywhere. My friends live miles away and I need transportation to get there but when I ask my parents (mostly my mother because she is a stay-at-home mom) to let me go over my friends' house, they refuse and say they don't have time for that.
This is the same for my driving lessons. I have had my permit for a year and a half now. Out of the many months that I could have been able to practice my driving, my parents have only let me drive four times. The last time being almost seven months ago. I live far away from all of my other family members, so asking them is out of the question. When they aren't doing anything expect watching television and I ask them to teach me how to drive ... they say they don't have time or they are too tired. Now for my dad, I can understand. He works six days a week (sometimes) and does overtime because my mother quit her job.
Since I stay at home all of the time now, I decided that I wanted a job. So I got a partial waiver to work a full time job considering that I am ahead in a lot of my school work and I need the money for some savings. My mother refuses to let me work at all even though she took me to the post office to let me mail off the applications for the partial waiver. I was very excited when I got it and then she told that she didn't want me to get a job. During the summer, I had a job but she made me quit because of the gas prices even though I paid for the gas which was pretty much a good chuck of my paycheck because she drives an SUV and she said that she didn't have time for that either.
I have been going to a therapist for a while now and she has been helping me a lot but every time I make progress ... my parents (mostly my mom, my dad just agrees with her all of the time) just shoot me down. When the therapist says I need to spend more time with my parents, I try but it usually ends badly.
I have been to almost every family discussion website, I have took my time and let my parents do what they do best. I have let them adjust to this and I do what is told of me. I want independence but I also want a good relationship with my parents but they are too controlling. For instance, I want to dye my hair a different color. MY MOTHER REFUSES TO LET ME DO THIS EVEN THOUGH SHE DOESN'T DO MY HAIR AND DOESN'T CARE WHAT I DO TO IT.
This has been happening since I was eleven years old. I am tired of waiting for my parents to "have time for me". I need real advice and telling me that I have to just wait until I turn eighteen isn't the advice I need. Please someone help me.

Resolved Question: Should bus drivers get away with a strike and leave thousands of people at sea how to get to work?
Here in Ontario, Canada, the bus drivers have made a threat which looks as if they will carry it out if their demands are not being met.. I don't know what else they want but one of their demands is that they want more paid days of sick leave... Not everybody has a car.. I worked as a health care worker .. I am just temporarily not working but I had to leave the house at just after 5 a.m every morning because health care staff have to be at their workplace at 6.45 a.m.. and start work at 7 a.m.. if they do the early shift.. and on Sudays.. I live approx. 8 miles from the capital of Canada.. which is Ottawa.. there is no bus transport to anywhere from where I live until 8 am on a Sunday morning so every time when i had to work Sundays i had to get a taxi and pay for it from my own money as it's up to me how I get to work.. if no bus goes and I have no car I have to take a taxi.. to be reliable and to be always on time and to take a minimum of sick days is expecially important as a health care worker.. Now my husband faces this problem on the 10th...we got no car.. He will have to get a taxi. That will leave 1000s of commuters stranded ...if the strike goes through.. the bus drivers are very much aware what harvoc they can cause and that many many people depend on public transport...also if there are no buses going.. some weeks ago my husband phoned a taxi company the evening before because he had a doctors appointment where it's hard to get to by bus.. but the next day we had snow.. so a lot of people called the taxi company and although my husband had made arrangements the evening before.. they told him that he was 3rd in line and would have to wait.. he called back several times and they told him it would be another hour before anyone could pick him up, he waited but even then the taxi didn't show up so he missed his doctors appointment and just managed to get the last bus to work and had to work 4 hours overtime as he started 4 hours late.. I am afraid this will happen again when the buses strike.. lots of people will take a taxi to work.. and if I was working as a health care worker right now.. and I phoned for a taxi to pick me up at 5.45 am to allow plenty of time to get there before 7.15 am...if the taxi puts me in 3rd place due to snow.. that would be very bad in this profession as punctuallity is of the essence.. the patients have to be toiletted and washed at 7 am sharp and one has limited time and a lot of other tasks to perform.. if you have to look after 10 patients and toilet and wash them and dress them and you don't make it to work on time.. that really sets a bad example.. but also for everyone else who will be waiting in vain on December 10th.. if the buses go on strike.. should one let them get away with this.. or do they deserve a good punch in the nose...? This is just not fair...they can't go on strike.

Resolved Question: 1996 Subaru Legacy Wagon question about timing belt and preventative maintenance?
i just bought a 96 Legacy Wagon and im a worried about it holding up. the previous owner told me that the timing belt had been changed but he couldnt offer any receipts. is there a way a technician or me can tell if it was done? also there is quite a bit of oil that has leaked out overtime and has built up- ive read that the seals were faulty in this model- thoughts? It rides ok right now. The auto tranny is a little hesitant at times. What sould i be looking to get checked out immediatly considering my funds are limited. And then longterm? All i have to go on is list written on a piece of paper of thing that he "said" were changed 8k miles ago. here they are. the car has 140k on it.

Resolved Question: Who here thinks Herm Edwards is a complete idiot?
Heres the senario...
Herm Edwards gets hired as the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. He leads the team to a 10-6 record and BARLEY made the playoffs as a wildcard, with basically Dick Vermeils team. The following year they go 4-12. They have won ONE game in their last 18 games. So you score a touchdown at the end of the game, all you need to do is kick the extra point and your almost gaurenteed overtime. But Herm Edwards decides, let go for two! They fail... and lose again...
Is he an idiot or is it just me? The Chiefs the past three weeks have been very competitive, but Herm the past three weeks, has found THREE NEW ways to lose.
I'm not a die hard Chiefs fan, but I am from a city 15 miles south of KC. Do you agree they need to fire Carl Peterson (GM) and Herman Edwards (Head Coach) after this season?
I understand everyone saying its a win win situation, and that we get a higher draft pick. But what coach in his mind is thinking of that?
Hey lets just go for it... if we lose... who cares? All coaches should STRIVE to win the game... Not strive to lose just so they get a higher draft choice. Bad call in my opinion.
