The Hotel Cat (New York Review Children's Collection)
One wintry day a lonely stray cat named Tom wanders into the Royal Hotel. He chases mice so well that he is given the job of Hotel Cat. Tired of always spending time in the cellar, Tom ventures upstairs and meets the gentle Mrs. Wilkins, a longtime hotel resident who has the ability to communicate with cats. She encourages Tom to become less bossy and to keep an open mind about the hotel guests.
One night, during the winter of New York City’s Big Freeze, Tom detects three cats in one of the rooms. It turns out that due to a boiler breakdown in his house, Captain Tinker has brought Jenny Linsky and her brothers, Edward and Checkers, to stay at the hotel until the boiler is fixed. Other homes experience boiler breakdowns, too, and soon other members of the Cat Club can be found staying in rooms at the Royal Hotel. Before long, plans are underway for the Cat Club Stardust Ball, with the help of Tom, who has proved himself helpful and considerate after all. Soon he becomes a "friend forever" of Jenny and her pals.

Cheap Motels and a Hot Plate: An Economist's Travelogue
The road trip is a staple of modern American literature. But nowhere in American literature, until now, has a left-wing economist hit the road, observing and interpreting the extraordinary range and spectacle of U.S. life, bringing out its conflicts and contradictions with humor and insight.
Disillusioned with academic life after thirty-two years teaching economics, Michael D. Yates took early retirement in 2001, with a pension account that had doubled during the dot.com frenzy of the late 1990s. He and his wife Karen sold their house, got rid of their belongings, and have moved around the country since then, often spending months at a time on the road. Michael and Karen spent the summer of 2001 in Yellowstone National Park, where Michael worked as a hotel front-desk clerk. They moved to Manhattan for a year, where he worked for Monthly Review. From there they went to Portland, Oregon, to explore the Pacific Northwest. After five months of travel in Summer and Fall 2004, they settled in Miami Beach. Ahead of the 2005 hurricane season, they went back on the road, settling this time in Colorado.
Cheap Motels and a Hotplate is both an account of their adventures and a penetrating examination of work and inequality, race and class, alienation and environmental degradation in the small towns and big cities of the contemporary United States.

Resolved Question: Anyone know anything about the Osprey Motel in Panama City Beach, FL?
I've heard mixed reviews about it from different people, but all of those were based on stays over 4 years ago. Can anyone tell me what it's like there now? Mostly interested in whether or not the rooms are kept clean, if the beach area is clean, is it a good place for relaxing & seeing a beautiful sunrise/sunset over the ocean?

hello there,i've booked a florida package holiday with virgin,im from england by the way,when i booked i was told i was staying in a hotel,after reading a lot of reviews most people are saying its more like a motel than a hotel,although all the reviews are good ones,im not fussy anyway and for what we've paid i cant grumble as long as its clean im happy,basically im just curious to the difference between them.p.s the hotel/motel :) is called best western lakeside international drive florida,thanks.

Voting Question: PA,DE,NJ Haunted Hayrides, Houses, and other Attractions. Need Opinions! Jason's Woods, Shocktoberfest, Bates?
It is really tough to find actual reviews of haunted attractions for some reason, so, I reach out to you Yahoo Answers community. I am trying to decide between this list. Please don't add others because if they aren't on the list there is a reason (most likely that I've been there already).

Resolved Question: Ladies, how would most ladies handle this situation...?
Suppose a group of ladies are sitting peacefully, not bothering anyone at the local beach motel but then some angry teenager approaches you and asks, "Y'all know who set them fire crackers off?" To this you reply, in earnest, "I have no clue who set them off." The kid responds in askance, "Umm Hmmm," as if he challenges your integrity.
How would at least 80% of ladies handle this sort of situation?
*Kindly provide scientific literature from the annals of ladies' social science to help me in this matter because studying ladies should not be something done capriciously. It merits formal treatment and sufficient scientific rigour. I love to learn about ladies from experts in ladies social science (but there should be scientific source citations to validate one's assertions. Scientific sources are regarded as highly regarded peer-reviewed journals, not things like People Magazine or the Enquirer).

Resolved Question: good motel or B&B in Carmel, California that wont leave me broke?
Ive looked on yelp, various websites but am having a hard time finding a CLEAN, well reviewed place that is under 150 a night. I just need one room with one bed, TV and wifi. Any ideas or recommendations? i will have a car, so it doenst have to be in the center of everything...just close enough to where i dont have to drive another hour to get to the beach or town.

Resolved Question: Tropic Garden Motel in Miami?
My boyfriend and I want to get a room here in november, the reviews for it seem really nice but its only a year or so old so i can't seem to find any pictures of it. Has anyone been here and taken pictures or know where i can find some? The motel doesnt even have a website.
