I'll tell you my experience with OSHA. As far as I am concerned OSHA should not even exist anymore, it is a waste of taxpayer's money. A few months back I called OSHA's main office in Puerto Rico to denounce the dangerous practices and working environment existent in my workplace. I called OSHA because after following the procedures to correct problems laid out by the company I work for, and trying to get them corrected, I was targeted and was victim of many attacks and discrimination. After 2 years of trying to get the workplace to comply, what I only got was an organized and persistent mobbing attack on my person and my reputation. The first time I called OSHA I explained my complains on the phone, and after 3 more calls I was told that I was speaking to the wrong person. She gave me a number to call as I was told that because of the location of my workplace, it belong to a different office. During all of those conversations it seemed to me that the there was a lot of emphasis made on if I was sure I wanted to make the complains official. I personally visited the area office and made my complaints, which were the following: a high in various areas _The presence of great quantities of toxic mold and mildew in various areas of the AC system, contaminating public and back of the house areas, this was accompanied with pictures and much documentation generated during the past couple of years from my contacts with the responsible parties. _The dangerous practice of misuse of ladders in an area where there was a t least a 20' fall. _The requirement of some of us to change parts and/or repair electric appliances, replace outlets and perform other types of electrical work prohibited by law if not certified. Also reported that there was not a certified electrician in property. _The negation of the employer to provide steel toe boots as part of the safety equipment required by law. _Discrimination, targeting and mobbing against my person. OSHA did take my complains and seemed to be working on investigating the problems. I was told that the inspection and safety issues would be handled by them but the discrimination allegations would bee reffered to their main office and they would get in touch with me. Time went by and I heard through the grapevine that OSHA was conducting an investigation. I never seen nor was I interviewed by anyone, furthermore one day when I was working I saw the procedure implanted by the department head for OSHA's interviews. Which was as follows: The interviewer was taken to an office while in the shop the director gathered the ones to be interviewed one by one in a clear intimidation practice, he stayed there all of the time until the interviews were finish. So the ones interviewed were under a lot of pressure not to speak and only the ones that the director hand picked were called, not me of course. I had a coworker approach me and tell me that the investigator from OSHA was telling the director what to write in the safety equipment requirements so he would not be obligated to provide the steel toe boots. It is very curious that in the report sent to me by OSHA it says that they were not obligated to provide us with the boots and that they were not required, but in the same report it says that during inspection they noticed the "deficiency" of the employer not providing steel toe boots to the employees...???? According to the same report it is determined that employees that handle equipment or parts weighting between 25 and 110 lbs need to be assigned a pair of steel toe boots. In a recent job description which I posses the employer clearly has as a requirement for other positions the same weight loads as the ones that OSHA protected, why not the others? is it because I reported it? It is interesting that from the original complain of the areas with mold, mildew, humidity problems they were all reduced to 1 area that is the one that figures in the report. And of course there was no evidence of discrimination, at least not found in the whole 2 weeks that was given to the investigator, who had to split herself into three to comply with the deadlines set by law. Not to extend this post to unreadable lenghts let me summarize with the following. OSHA seems to work for the employers, even though they say that they take an inpartial stand it is very clear to me, that did not happen in my case. The result from all of these is that I am operationally out of a job (is just a matter of time), my health has suffered, and anybody that ever thought of complaining or reporting issues to OSHA will just not do it. I suggest that OSHA is taken out of the government's payroll and be transfered to the corporations public relations department. It is important that the laws in the workplace are respected or we will continue to see principles and money go out the window as it is very clearly occurring in the financial world, don not think that all of this things are not related, it is called impu (more...)

I finished my course in June, and sat all the exams. My results from the Scottish Qualification Authority should have been posted out to me in September. Time passed, and still nothing. When I phoned the SQA I was told they were waiting on my college to mark one thing, but everytime I try to contact my old tutor to ask why it has taken him 5months or more I have been ignored. This includes emails and phone calls. Due to the fact I don't have this bit paper with the list of units I studied, I can't move into a career which I'm guaranteed a place in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated becasue I've lost all paitence with them now. (more...)

Here it goes. Feel free to judge... I'm eighteen years old. I have been in a serious relationship with my boyfriend Evan for almost a year now. He is 30, but acts much younger and we don't really care about the major age differnce. He is a great person and I really do love him. We were fighting a lot right before Christmas and broke up for 3 weeks and we not speaking at all. Well there was this other guy named Keith that I had a crush on long before Evan and I ever hooked up. BUT Keith always had a girlfriend. On Christmas I confessed to Keith that I had feelings for him and wanted to always tell him, but couldn't because of his girlfriend. I didn't want to be disrepectful. I promise I'm not a homewrecker. It's NOT like that at all. He replied back through my e-mail and was suprised to find out. I still can't believe I even told him... He said that if I really cared about him I would wait until he is through with his girlfriend. Apparently they don't get along whatsoever. It was perfect timing when I told him because he was already planning on ending the relationship. I also think the physical attraction between us is very intense. Keith is only 21 so he's a lot closer in age to me than Evan. Well Keith and I started talking a lot on the phone, while his girlfriend was at work. I still wasn't talking to Evan. Well a week went by without talking to Keith so I assumed him & his girlfriend worked everything out. I went back to Evan to try to mend things. Well, as soon as I did that Keith called me and explained to me what had been going on. Him and his girlfriend were most feinately breaking up and he was planning on kicking her out of his house. I immediately felt torn. Evan and I have a lot of history and there's a strong bond between us. Since we started talking again I felt guilty for even talking to Keith on the "down low..." Well....... it's gotten a lot worse. Last night I went over to Keith's house to hang out. His girlfriend was gone for the night. We ending up talking and having a good time and one thing lead to another and we had sex 3 times in a row that night. I didn't leave his house until 10am... I definately know he's not player though. Our circumstances are highly understandable if you knew more about it. I've been lying to Evan about what I do. When I go over to Keith's I make up something else so he doesn't freak out on me. I know I should be honest and tell him what I've been doing but we never made our relationship "official" again. Keith and I like eachother a lot, especially now. But he has a girl and I'm somewhat in a relationship myself. We plan on being together after he kicks out his girlfriend. Which is lookig like any day now. Evan wouldn't handle it too well if he knew what was going on. I chose to keep him protected until I figure out for sure what I'm going to do. It sounds really bad, I KNOW. I have found myself caught in between two men that I care about a lot. I love Evan but I'm falling for somebody else now. It breaks my heart because I can't control what my heart is feeling. I had met my new guy a few weeks before our official breakup, but I had been preparing myself in every way possible for this break up. I had been ready for awhile. My new boyfriend and I are truly in love, he stuck by my side through the whole drama of me going to jail n everything that followed, n i'm still fighting it n he's still around. He loves me and my son. My son is 2 n he behaves better when my new guy is around n my son loves him as much as I do. We're already talking marriage n kids, because everything just feels RIGHT! but I can't get my family to look at it that way, they think that i just jumped into a relationship w/ the first guy that showed me attention, but that's not the way it is at all. I got very excited when I saw the picture because the application looks Sort of like a sidekicks AIM and I'm a big fan of AOL IM. So this guy likes me (lets call him Tyler), and I like him back. Its been about a month and half since he told me he liked me.. it feels like things have been going really slow. =S I mean, he definitely likes me.. I have my proof, but nothing has really happened yet. He always hugs me and shows me he likes me, and I see him every day in class and hes always keeping me close to him. He always has his arms wrapped around me, hes always with me, and showing that he cares for me. I love being with him and I always find myself missing him. Everything is great but I just don't get why nothing is really happening. He hasnt asked me to be his girlfriend or anything.. I mean, if you like me and act like you're my boyfriend, then why arent you making it official? :S i dont know, maybe I just expect too much and im being impatient. I guess hes taking it slow? When we went out a few days ago it was with his best friend and the best friend's girlfriend, he was being all boyfriendy infront of them too, so i dont know really get whats happening. We never really talked much until after he told me he liked me, then we started talking alot more like on the phone, in person, msn etc. so yeah, i think hes just taking his time to get to know me =S all relationships start out kinda awkward and silent right? cuase you dont know eachother that well yet? and when we talk on msn it gets kind of silent after a while.. most of the time it turns out to be one of those dead convos where we're like "hey, hey, whatsup, nothing much just chillin, what about you? samee just so bored, etc" i always run out of words to say, or either i just have nothing to say at all and i guess he doesnt either. I dont know, i get so bugged out sometimes cause of that.. but i kind of learned to just not worry about it cause yeah, we just dont have anything to say to eachother =S And the sad thing is that our school system is really fucked; the year is split into 2 halves and in each half you have completely different courses, so we wont have any classes together after this month :( I hate how slow things are going, we havent even kissed yet and it feels like its been forever since we started having a thing together.. I mean, we dont HAVE to kiss, but it feels like it shouldve happened already. =S It constantly feels like time is running out. I only have like.. 3 weeks left of classes with him. Of course we can always hang out on weekends or after school and whatnot, but Im just scared that he'll lose interest in me.. or maybe he'll end it cause itll be hard to keep going. sometimes I'm scared that I'm boring him too, cause Im not really the type of person to make moves and just go up and kiss him or w/e either. I guess you can say Im shy and i just wait for HIm to do everything. i just need any advice... especially about what i should do on the thing with running out of time.. how can i keep him interested in me and keep it that way? And also, how can I keep conversations flowing? cause really, i dont have much to say to him half the time =| haha sorry it was kinda long D: well.. hes said stuff like "i'll kiss you tomorow" but i think he's just been joking. when he said that he was like, "if you tell me to" then i kind of panicked and said "haha wtf that would be pretty awkward" :S we didnt hang out in the end that day though cause he had to go somewhere. I think i should just tell him to next time haha this other time our friend asked us in class if we were going out, then he said no so i'm not sure. his best friend's girlfriend also asked me if we were dating and i said no too, since he said that. she knows we like eachother though. he's asked me out and we've gone out, but we're not really boyfriend and girlfriend though (more...)
