Pie in the Sky - The Brigid Berlin Story
In this intimately etched portrait of the former Andy Warhol insider, director John Waters calls Brigid Berlin "My favorite Warhol star." It's easy to see why. She rebelled against her blue-blood upbringing to hang with the misfits and artists who populated Warhol's Factory in the 1960s. Hilariously and harrowingly candid about her strained relationship with her estranged family, her tempestuous friendship with Warhol, and her lifelong struggle with her weight, Berlin, now in her 60s, remains an indomitable force. As she proclaims, "I didn't ask to be born. This is what they got, so this is what they got to contend with." --Donald Liebenson

Halloween Pie
On Halloween, Old Witch baked a scrumptious Halloween pie. Then, setting it aside to cool, she leaped on her broom and flew off to make some mischief. Soon the wind began to blow. It blew down Old Witch's chimney and out her window. It blew through the trees and over the graveyard fence. And with it went the spicy scent of Halloween pie.

It blew down Old Witch's chimney and out her window. It blew through the trees and over the graveyard fence. And with it went the spicy scent of Halloween pie. Zombie in his cave sniffed the wind. Skeleton in his grave sniffed the wind. Vampire, Banshee, Ghoul, and Ghost sniffed the wind. Then they all rose from the graveyard and followed their noses to Old Witch's cottage.
This delicious Halloween romp, filled with spooky sounds and midnight magic, begs to be read aloud again and again and again.

Resolved Question: What is the most disloyal dog breed?
and do you know the answer for these questions to?
? Why does some music make you want to shake your butt?
? Could you please explain why it is that squirrels are capable of such amazing athletic feats? What is it about their brains and, to a lesser degree, their bodies that allows it? I watch them at my house and have seen some amazing things.
? Is it just me, or do all national anthems the world over, no matter how rich and exotic the culture, seem to sound like European marching-band music? Wouldn't one expect China's national anthem be more "plinky"? Shouldn't Iraq's national anthem sound a little more "Arab-y"?
? It is a common baseball prank to give someone a cream pie in the face during a TV interview. Where do these cream pies come from? Do baseball teams keep cream pies in the dugout?
I am an 11-year-old boy and girls in my class harass me constantly and I want to file a restraining order against one of them. Is that possible? can this boy get a restraining order?
? My toaster identifies which of the two slots should be used for making a single slice of toast. Why does it make a difference which slot I use?
? Is the stomach normally full of air like a balloon, or is it squeezed flat by the other organs, like a balloon with no air that spreads open as food and water come in? Are the other organs squeezed and compressed like a squeezed sponge, or are they like a sponge not being squeezed? What about the intestines? Are they squeezed flat normally, or are they open like one of those long balloons that magicians make animals out of?
? Please explain the method of formation and origin of black holes. Are they located at the Bermuda Triangle area and why there?
? Who made up the rule that if you wore a shirt all day, went home, and washed it, you can't wear it the next day?
? Why do cockroaches flip over on their backsides when they die? I sprayed RAID into a hole in my wall the other day, and by the next morning I found six cockroaches laid out on my floor, all flipped over and all very dead!
? How long can humans live when they are caught on fire? For example, when a car crashes and explodes turns into a gulf of flames, but humans are alive.

Resolved Question: So who are Aussies..? ?
'i know these paragraphs are long but please read them all to get a better view of what i'm saying, please don't be bias here.
I've known many Australian-born chinese whose generations go back to the Gold rushes so they must be a 4th or 6th generation Australian..
.But when you are an australian stuck in an asian's body, everyone assumes you're asian and sometimes you're confuse if they're asian or australian by their appearence, it's not just asians i've been told about other anglo races i.e. greek or italian having the same problems..
So what is the Australian culture and values? migrants built this nation and if it wasn't for them we wouldn't be here today.' So why did the Europeans back in history called themselves Australians and Americans, i'm still 16 and i'm learning about Australian history...which makes me wonder why and how do we define Australians..
I understand after the White Australian Policy that people still have the affect and believe Australians are normally white and not more culterally mixed...
I was born in Australia, Vic and my parents were excepted as rufugees during the Vietnam War, sometimes it is hard to tell if i'm Asian or Australian..After all our nation was built on migrants...
My surburb isn't that culterally mixed as of yet, I go to sec school surrounded by white friends and these gurls are very special to me.There will be ratbags in any race so I don't agree that all whites are racist...
Back to my point, so what defines Australians different from other cultures, what are it's values mainly it's very own.. 'culture..'
I just think migrants made it the 'Australian Culture', it's mainly adapted with the English or European influence otherwise the Aussie food i can think of is 'tucker' and aussie kangaroo pie but the word the term 'pie' is of English Origin..
What makes me Australian, I go to another country and people assume I'm Asian..I don't like eating vegemite and some of my white friends don't like it either, does that really determind the Australianess.? and i'm not into footy or cricket..I'm just really in a muddle.
All i know is that i'm Australian with an asian background, and that i support and that i'm loyal to this country, fly the flag and respect others is what determines my Australian'ness' at heart...
so over to you...
p.s why do aussies call English people 'POMS' weren't their ancestors of English origin, it's ironic, contradictory and very funny!
we're just easy going and very laid back..
I JUST DON'T FEEL BELONGED... i get uncomfortable when people chant 'aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi' so who are aussies..?
why are we wogs when their ancestors were migrants..?
it's just makes me wonder how much do i have to love this country before i really feel accepted and belonged...

Resolved Question: What is the 'Australian' culture...? ?
What is the 'Australian' culture...? ?
To me migrants from every corner of the world throughout history made what Australia is today, so it's a mixture of all diverse multi-cultures...
Sure Footy and cricket is a real 'loved by most Aussies' but that doesn't proove your Australian'ess' if you dislike it, It was a known sport worldwide so that doesn't make us unAustralian
Australia is still a young culture and all I can think of 'Australian food' is tucker from the dirt i.e.maggots, the bush areas or kangaroo 'pie' but pie comes from Europe just that added different flavour...
I think it's more of a English, Irish, Welsh or European that greatly influenced it during the convict settlement, early migrations and settlement, and the Australian-Chinese came back along way away from the Gold Rushes so you might be an aussie-chinese 4th Asian Aussies
We're also known for a laid back generosity and easy going natures
and I don't think there is such thing as 'our culture' because our culture is mixed, I've seen and from experience many patriotic/ some white racist supremasist Australians but I feel sorry that they don't understand what 'Australia' is like; I'd just watch them say 'Aussie pride this and Aussie pride that'
geez we eat burgers created from USA, coffee beans prob Africa, Brazil or Europe, pastrys from France, kebabs and a mixture of Asian spicy foods...so we adapt these changes and often take things for granted making it look as if 'we own everything'
I would here Greek and Italian students being teased at i.e. books and experience yet we see 'aussies' eating spaghetti, it's hilarious yet to think we can be so stupidly dumb and take everything for granted...
We take advantage of the fact that this land was orignially from the indigenous people yet we still here racial discrimination or any other prejudices unhumane and cruel...
Speech by Penny wong, excerp
I seek a nation that is truly one nation, one in which all Australians can share, regardless of race. Instead, I believe we are in danger of being swamped by prejudice. Let us speak openly and honestly about race in this country, about what last year's election signified and about where we are now. Let us speak openly about the damage that has been done and let us do it without being subject to the dismissive and disrespectful taunts about political correctness. In recent years there has been much preaching from the current Prime Minister about political correctness, that we have had too much of it. Instead now we have a climate in which someone who speaks out about injustice, prejudice or discrimination is dismissed as simply being politically correct. Compassion has been delegitimised?instead it is seen as elitism. It is as if we have developed a new orthodoxy, one in which it is correct to defend racism but incorrect to defend tolerance. We have a new political correctness.
When I and many others speak of the way this government engenders division and not unity, we do not do so because it is politically correct. We do so because we believe it, because we see it and because it saddens us. We say that what has been done and said is wrong, not because we ascribe to some obscure elitist moral code but because we believe it is harmful to our community. Prejudice and distrust cannot build a community but they can tear one apart.
Australia is a country of vast distances and open spaces and many different environments. It is no less diverse in its peoples than in its landscape. This diversity can be an aspect of our shared identity or it can be the fault line around which our community fractures.
In the decades since the arrival of Europeans to this land, race has been a rather uncomfortable topic for us?first, in the subjugation of the Aboriginal peoples of this land, and later in how we dealt with the various waves of migrants to our shores. We all know that we had the White Australia Policy until the late 1960s, with bipartisan support.

I dunno but I feel like that, I'm a Vietnamese-Australian, born and raised here and my parents came from the Vietnam War to escape the ' darkness' there by of course, we face these challenges in life, racism or not... It used to lead me to wonder, `How long do you have to be here and how much do you have to love this country before you are accepted?'

Resolved Question: Do white Americans have a culture?
A culture like Italians, Germans, Poland, the Brits ect.?
Like I noticed history wise the Native Americans had to show white Americans how to cook Pumpkin Pie, blue berry pie, and turkey, and how to plant corn ect. Later on they added black food, and asian food to their diets.
Music wise, I found out that blacks were the first to create rock & roll, blues and jazz.
But without any other races food, music ect. what did white Americans have before then here?
Always been curious, sorry if I sound like am insulting others.
To the first poster.............having white culture is fine , now I don't see the kkk as white culture...right?
Nice Sir George
I see Holly good answer.

Resolved Question: Do you believe that the eagles actually bought the game into disrespute any more than any other clubs have? ?
Because in another Q, people were like: The Eagles have tarnished the game ect ect.
How was the Eagles drug culture any different to the bad behavior of other players?
Brendon Fevola pissing of the street.
The Wayne Carey Saga.
That Pies player that was linked to a shooting.
Other players doing drugs.
The alcohol abuse in every club.
The drugs and alcohol 'back in the day'.
Barry Hall king hit.
And the many other 'disreputable' occurrences...
Players bad behavior is making the players disreputable... not the game of Aussie Rules itself.
And how is the Eagles problems any worse 9 ( I know the drug culture was pretty strong at the Eagles but ) than the many other problems clubs have faced in the past.
Are people saying that the Eagles are dirty cheats just a cop out and a easy way to dis teams or do people genuinely believe it?
Lozz, I'm not trying to blame the other clubs-I'm giving examples of how it is unfair.
In your opinion, Have the eagles actually 'tarnished' the "game"?

Resolved Question: What items should I include in a "USA" themed gift basket?
I have a classmate from Iraq, this is her very first time in the States and she is very interested in experiencing as much of our culture as she can. I've already given her t-shirts and buttons from the recent election, and I also let her experience a traditional Thanksgiving meal. My thought is to create a small basket with distinctly American products and snacks inside. What should I include? I'm thinking things of snacks like Boston Baked Beans, and mini pecan pies, maybe a classic American movie like "The Goonies." Any suggestions?
These are great, please give me more!

Resolved Question: What age did you first start ´real´dating ? ?
after positing a question in this section I read some other people's questions... & one of them said 16 is about the age to start dating...
In film's I alway's see CrAzY American teens' having sex & drinking throwing wild toga parties =) Which I will attend next year after I move there =D Watch out Jacksonville Florida there will be a Basqué arrving to show you how we party in the ˇˇ BASQUÉ COUNTRY !!
But my first ´real´ girlfriend was when I was 14... I was the lastest out of all my friends... we all have a ´kiss´ in the play-ground of First School at about age 7 ^^ & So my frist real kiss was 14... very old for here anyway... so then what age did you start dating ?
I think most American culture is portrayed wrong on the Movies... because on the MTV Tele I have seen American shows like... called To young to marry or somthing and most of the people are 19+ ... you can marry here at 16 & sex is 13, buy drink is 16 but you can drink in a bar at any age...
so I think the culture is shown wrong in the movies... so I want to know if you do things like I see in American Pie
