Voting Question: I have a group of THREE( ! ) Egyptian Geese at my pool, is it unusual ?
I had been told, and seen it 'confimed' that these ducks (they are not really geese: it is a 'title' but truth is that those birds called "Egyptian Geese" are really of the 'duck' group). But, really I am fascinated.. because they had always for nearly two years been a pair..and they pair-off for life,, .. then 'lo and behold' after some fighting a loner day after day faught her ( I am sure its a 'she' ) her way to swim, nibble and waddle at a distance BUT within the same pool vicinity (kinda large: I supervise and lifeguard a 25 meter by 25 yard public bathing/swimming outdoor pool : with walled-in grass surrounds thrice that...). Anyways; feed them about half loaf bread, above their grass muching So any thoughts on that _ am i 'overfeeding' them refined starch: tried stuff that used to feed large pigeons, etcetra - the 'E.Geese' really like da bread though :) ?? thanks ! Resolved Question: Are we nearing the end, or nearing a new beginning?
First off, don't flame me...I am not trying to be an alarmist or cause fear...just bringing this to a discussion amongst all...I'd like to see how many of you believe... Hey, this old world is getting a little weird...People are talking of black holes, time travel (see H.L.C) Some folks are talking about the Mayan calender and it's prophesy of of 2012...The middle east is as tense as ever, Russia warning us to 'back off' , not only from Iran, but to get away from the Georgia situation and stop backing Israel as well. We have many warships employed in the general vicinity of Russia, because of the Georgia situation and have been warned by Russia to VACATE the area at once!... There are rumors that the new Russian premier has ordered his prize, best in the world, nuclear submarine into close proximity to our shores, very close to Cuba...We may very well be heading for another 'Cuban Missile Crisis' ? Will Obama be able to handle this one as well as JFK did in 1962? Does Obama have people surrounding him, advising him, of the same caliber as JFK had at that time? We have been warned by the Taliban that they are poised to attack in the very near future. They weapon of mention, nuclear, dirty bombs... We have seen this country go from a God Fearing one to an 'anything goes' nation. We have removed all absolutes from our vocabulary. There is a belief among Christians that a rapture will proceed, and mark the final 3 1/2 years of mankind's reign on this earth. The great tribulation. Some believe that a 'rapture' takes place at the beginning and some believe it takes place at the end? Whether or not you believe in a 'rapture' is not important to your faith. Paul said "I speak one thing, Christ crucified"...that alone is the thing that absolutely matters, imo. In the many bible 'final days' prophesies, the U.S. is not mentioned as being a 'player' in any final scene,...Russia, Israel,Iraq, Iran, Syria, even Germany are mentioned but I don't see any mention of the US unless we are what is referred to as Babylon ? And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. The earth will be full of violence, as in the days of Noah, and promiscuity, as in the days of Sodom when Christ returns for his church. Anybody have any dreams to share? This year, the attention of mass-media, scientists and intellectuals interested in predictions about the next future of Earth and mankind has focused on a prediction of Mayan astronomers affirming that, on December 22nd, 2012, an important astronomic cycle will end, after having started in the remote August 13th, 3114 B.C.. This prediction, as the experts of Mayan civilization think, doesn't talk about the end of the world or of catastrophic events, but it announces that great changes will occur, with the beginning of a new age, so, not the end of the world. The Maya seem to talk of a "transition time", already started in 1982, that will reach the top just in 2012, when there will be an "absence of time" during which the new time (or age) will replace the old one. the Maya didn't study these sciences simply for knowledge sake or for scientific progress, as we do today, but mixed astronomic data and calendary studies with religious symbols and astrology. Resolved Question: Why is my guy friend acting so weird?
School started back in August and I made a new guy friend and we clicked well and became pretty good friends fairly fast. It was all pretty good and we?d jokingly flirt with each other and what not but then eventually there'd be little stuff I did that'd bothered him so he'd be a jerk to me because of it and I'd be confused on why he was being that way and would be in a "why are you talking to me"-attitude when he did start acting normal again to me. We talked about it and were like normal and talking regularly again and what not and everything was good again. However, a little bit before he started going out with this girl, I'd feel like I was bothering him or something and he'd kind of ignore me on and off or overly surround himself and get into conversation with people he never really talks to, (some he?d told me he hadn?t liked before) if I was around. Now that they?re dating he seems to act weirder around me or something. He no longer acknowledges my presence (sometimes, if I come into his general vicinity with/standing next to a mutual friend, he?ll greet them and not me), he tries to not make eye contact with me, won?t start talking to me first, when we do talk he?ll start off normal but then he quickly gets all ?I don?t want to talk to you?-ish in his body language/tone of voice. And when we are sort of talking it's very brief and doesn't really, flow as a conversation. Any ideas on why he's 180ed? He used to be really cool in general and I miss him being my friend and acting the way he usually did. :P (more...)

summarise this please: Ischemic stroke is the most common type of stroke. It is characterized by the presence of a blood clot that blocks the flow of blood to one area of the brain, depriving that area of oxygen. Thrombotic stroke is a type of ischemic stroke, accounts for 40 percent to 50 percent of all cases of stroke. In thrombotic stroke, a blood clot forms in one of the brain's arteries, blocking blood flow to the brain. In most cases, the artery was already narrowed as a result of atherosclerosis (fatty build-up). Embolic stroke is a type of ischemic stroke, accounts for 20 percent of all cases of stroke. In embolic stroke, a blood clot originates in the heart or in blood vessels outside of the brain and travels to one of the brain's arteries, obstructing the flow of blood. AND: Hemorrhagic stroke accounts for 10 percent to 15 percent of all cases of stroke. In hemorrhagic stroke, bleeding in the brain itself (intracerebral hemorrhage) or between the brain and the skull (subarachnoid hemorrhage) disrupts brain function. Bleeding usually occurs because of a rupture in arterial walls that are already weakened by high blood pressure. A pool of blood compresses brain tissue in its vicinity, preventing adequate amounts of fresh blood from reaching the area. One common cause of such a hemorrhage is an aneurysm, a weak spot on an artery wall. These spots tend to stretch and they can rupture causing damage to the brain. High blood pressure combined with cholesterol can contribute to hemorrhage. An artery encrusted with plaque from cholesterol becomes brittle and prone to cracks. I have learned that (quite possibly) I will be moving to the Seattle and/or vicinity area within the next couple months. There are lots of cheap apartments around MacArthur Park, like Park WIlshire, Wilshire Loyal Apartments. How is the surrounding area apartments around the park? Is it generally safe? I know it's close to the park and I have no reason to ever visit the park or anything, but just curious about the surrounding vicinity of it. Like coming home from partying or late night out and street parking around 7th or 8th street or on Wilshire blvd for street parking? (more...)
