Voting Question: question about topographic maps?
Hey all, I was in the military a while back and we always used to get the topo maps to navigate from. I want to refresh my skills and get back into orienteering. I feel like an idiot, but I cant find an easy way to find maps. I live close to lake Tahoe and i just want to hike. Not on a specific trail or anything. I just want to find a cool spot on the map and get there. how do i find these maps?

Resolved Question: What does the word "space" mean in this sentence?
Hi, here's the paragraph that I read from my book regarding "measurement". And I am confused with the word "space" in the last sentence.
The content of this paragraph is....
The ability to measure in three dimensions is especially helpful for measuring topographic information from a similar map, an architectural CAD drawing-or any object in space whose dimensions you need to determine.
Does the word "space" mean somewhere outside Earth's atmosphere? or just an empty 3 dimensions space?

Resolved Question: Are buttes and "temples" geologically the same?
I'm working on a topographic interpretation and description of the Bright Angel Quadrangle located in Arizona. This area includes a good chuck of the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River. I see on my topographic map that there are many buttes and many "temples". It looks like they are both the same but I am not sure if classification wise they are the same.
If you have any ideas that would help me out I would really appreciate it.
