Open Question: What happened with the Epson Settlement?
I'm looking into what happened with the Epson Settlement and how it is done.
However, it seems that the site that provided the information (www.epsonsettlement.com) doesn't work anymore.
We want to register a couple of printers and get the $45 or the check.
Does anyone have any information on this? It seems that every article that I've looked at is severely outdated (Jan 2008). Thanks.

Open Question: Is adoption in the US and Canada violating an international treaty?
So, I was doing some more research for my case and I just found out the UN held a convention on the Rights of the Child. Take a look at Article 8, numbers 1 and 2.
Article 8
1. States Parties undertake to respect the right of the child to preserve his or her identity, including nationality, name and family relations as recognized by law without unlawful interference.
2. Where a child is illegally deprived of some or all of the elements of his or her identity, States Parties shall provide appropriate assistance and protection, with a view to re-establishing speedily his or her identity.
Is adoption violating this treaty? As far as I know, aren't treaties supposed to be a top priority? Just wondering what your guy's take on this.
Interestingly, Article 7 says a child has the right to know and be cared for by his/her parents.
Article 7
1. The child shall be registered immediately after birth and shall have the right from birth to a name, the right to acquire a nationality and. as far as possible, the right to know and be cared for by his or her parents.
Interesting, no?
Okay, so I completely missed the section specifically tailored to adoption.
Article 21
States Parties that recognize and/or permit the system of adoption shall ensure that the best interests of the child shall be the paramount consideration and they shall:
(a) Ensure that the adoption of a child is authorized only by competent authorities who determine, in accordance with applicable law and procedures and on the basis of all pertinent and reliable information, that the adoption is permissible in view of the child's status concerning parents, relatives and legal guardians and that, if required, the persons concerned have given their informed consent to the adoption on the basis of such counselling as may be necessary;
To clarify, the treaty gives the child the right to "preserve his or her identity, including nationality, name and family relations as recognized by law without unlawful interference." Since adoption wipes out a child's identity, culture, sometimes name, etc, would you consider this a violation of the treaty. That's my main question.

Resolved Question: Proof that males can't be trusted around little girls?
Some guy in Germany eloped to get married - with a 6 year old girl!!
Is this proof that UK government minister Patricia Hewitt was right when she said that males can't be trusted alone with children?
No doubt the little monster will claim that he was 'in love' with the girl, but shouldn't this guy be on the sex offenders register for the rest of his weird life?

Resolved Question: How much would you pay to offset -- literally -- the impacts of flying?
California's San Francisco Airport is on its way to becoming the first in the nation to offer passengers a chance to purchase carbon offsets to mitigate the impacts of their flight. San Francisco's Airport Commission has authorized the program, which will involve a $163,000 investment from SFO, but is still working out the details with 3Degrees.
"We'd like people to stop and consider the impacts of flying," said Steve McDougal, executive vice president for 3Degrees, a San Francisco firm that sells renewable-energy and carbon-reduction investments.
Airport kiosks will offer the offsets to passengers, and although prices have not been set they could be as low as $2 or as high as $36 for international flights. Michael Wara, an expert in this area and an assistant professor at Stanford Law School says that offsets ought to be registered after they have been sold, with guarantees that they will not be used again.
Several airlines have been offering this service for nearly a year -- Continental, Delta, Virgin Atlantic and Qantas all offer passengers a means to satisfy their conscience and benefit the environment.
What do you make of this experiment, and how long do you think it will be before other airports offer passengers a similar deal?

(Jan. 3) - Several more earthquakes rattled Yellowstone National Park on Friday, raising fears over the recent geological activity in the area.
Since Dec. 26, about 400 temblors have rumbled under the park, centered under the northern end of Yellowstone Lake. The small quakes Friday registered up to a magnitude of 3.5.

A pool of magma still exists five to 10 miles underground Yellowstone National Park, making it a very active geological area. The Grand Prismatic Spring, above, is the largest hot spring in the U.S. and third largest in the world. Click through the gallery to learn more about the park's violent geological history.

Swarms of small earthquakes happen frequently in Yellowstone, but it's very unusual for so many earthquakes to happen over several days, says Robert Smith, a professor of geophysics at the University of Utah.
"They're certainly not normal," Smith said. "We haven't had earthquakes in this energy or extent in many years."
"Could it develop into a bigger fault or something related to hydrothermal activity? We don't know. That's what we're there to do, to monitor it for public safety."
Smith said it's difficult to say what might be causing the tremors. He pointed out that Yellowstone is the caldera of a volcano that last erupted 70,000 years ago.
Yellowstone has had significant earthquakes as well as minor ones in recent decades. In 1959, a magnitude 7.5 quake near Hebgen Lake just west of the park triggered a landslide that killed 28 people.http://news.aol.com/article/yellowstone-earthquakes-raise-fears/292261

Resolved Question: How long does it take to ship a package from Istanbul Turkey to Fremont California?
The package was sent by registered mail, I thought he said registered airmail, but not sure if airmail, but registered mail for sure. It is most likely in a large envelope as it is a single article of clothing.

Resolved Question: Why do people comment on my links before even clicking on them?
Now recently I have given links from this site.
http://www.aljazeera.com/
And this is what it says on this site.
"AlJazeera.com and AlJazeera Magazine are registered trade marks of AlJazeera Publishing, an independent media organisation established in 1992 in London."
Now people see the word "aljazeera" and get freaked out because they are ignorant minded. It has nothing to do with the well known news organisation. I will continue using this site because it has some really good articles that you will not find on well recognised news websites.

Resolved Question: Nureyev, the TB Stallion?
I was asked, by my barn manager, to find pictures of a legendary stallion (named Nureyev)'s hock injury. I also found information, this is what I've got.
--http://www.thehorse.com/ViewArticle.aspx?ID=6990
--http://tcm.bloodhorse.com/article/6788.htm
--http://tcm.bloodhorse.com/article/6632.htm
--http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/nureyev
Now, she was asking for pictures of his mangled hock. From what I've read on these sites listed above, it was a fracture of the joint, but there wasn't anything externally (other than him holding up his leg when the innjury happened in his paddock) to suggest a horrible gaping injury.
I'm assuming she meant pictures of him holding up his leg then?
I don't see her for another two weeks, and she's far too busy to answer phone calls when she has to take care of 17 horses by herself EVERY DAY, so I can't call her to ask.
If I am right, and she does want a picture of Nureyev holding up his leg, can somebody help me find it?
She's interested in this because a registered Quarter Horse mare there, Faith, had a horrible injury to her lower leg, and thanks to the help and advice of Larry Bramlage HIMSELF!!, she is still alive, and just about ready to have her special shoes removed.
So if anyone can help me find that picture, or any other pictures of Nureyev either in recovery, in a cast, anything AFTER the injury, that'd be most appreciated. Thanks!!!!
Oh, and an x-ray would be great too! Thanks again!!!
On the second link for TheHorse.com, it says it was a fracture? That picture's awesome though, thanks!!!
