Boise Basques: Dreamers And Doers (Basque Diaspora and Migration Studies Series)
Boise Basques: Dreamers And Doers (Basque Diaspora and Migration Studies Series) "Boise Basques" records the history and development of one of the most significant Basque communities in the world. It contains over eighty photographs, several from the earliest years of Basque settlement in Boise, and covers daily life in the Basque boardinghouses, employment opportunities, Basque dancing and musicians, the Basque Museum and Cultural Center and creation of the "Basque Block" in a historical area of the city, and formation of the Basque club and building of the Boise Basque Center. The work introduces research on the society, politics, history, and economics of this Basque settlement, culminating more than two years of fieldwork, archival research, and personal interviews.

Basques of Boise: Adult Dietary Culture and Tradition: Basques: Culture and Tradition
Basques of Boise: Adult Dietary Culture and Tradition: Basques: Culture and Tradition Concerns in the USA about nourishment and dietary intake are significantly different today. Dietitians agree food habits relating to tradition, customs, behavior, culture and environment must continue to be studied to achieve advances in public health. One unique ethnic group with insufficient research relating to the healthiness of their cultural dietary intake is the Boise Idaho Basques. The purpose of this book was to explore their dietary culture and traditions. The research findings will add to the multicultural and ethnic dietary intake studies addressing the cultural aspects of food intended to bring awareness to the field of ethnic dietary intake and how the Boise Basque diet fits with the latest nutrition research. This ethnographic study assesses the cause of multicultural behaviors relating to food and nutrition, it is apparent this ethnic group has been largely identified by the foods their community has consumed for hundreds of years. Heritage, customs and traditions were found to be the core explanation of the dietary behaviors. A portrayal of how powerful the beliefs and culture of a society are can be seen when it comes to the behavior of the community observed.

Resolved Question: University of Reno or Boise State?
I'm interested in studing the basque language and culture because my last name came from that language and it's so inturiging , the problem is there isn't any universitys in san diego yet alone in California that teach Basque. So I search, It's down to 2 universitys -University of Nevada, Reno & -Boise State (Idaho) I'm not sure which one , My brother doesn't recomend Reno however there is a special program for students who live in the western part of the U.S that reduces the tuition in half. My senior year in high school is starting after this summer. I want to Major in either in history, forgin language or Linguistics both universities offer basque studies as a minor so i'm not sure which university suits me better, Thanks (more...)
