Open Question: has anone heard of this new out break of ebola virus?
and they say it's not able to transfer to humans here is the article. MANILA (AFP) ? A strain of the Ebola virus has been found in three pig farms north of the Philippine capital Manila, the government said Thursday as it ordered a temporary ban on exports of pork. The Ebola-Reston strain, however, was believed to have affected only domestic livestock and had not jumped to humans, said Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap. Pigs on at least three farms in the provinces of Bulacan, Pangasinan and Nueva Ecija have been quarantined for further tests. This was the first case of Ebola-Reston found in pigs rather than monkeys, and the government was closely working with the World Health Organisation and the World Organisation of Animal Health in carrying out further tests, Yap said. "This is the first time Ebola has been detected in pigs, but this is not a human health issue, but an animal health problem," Yap told local radio. "There is no evidence that this could jump to humans," he said, adding that Ebola-Reston was different from African strains that cause deadly haemorraghic fever, which has led to hundreds of human deaths in Africa. Yap said he had issued a temporary ban on exports of Philippine pork until the virus was completely eradicated from livestock. He said the farms were being closely monitored. Farm hands and butchers had been tested, but results had so far come back negative. Other pigs on the farm were not infected, while old stocks of meat had been burned as a precaution, he said. Ebola-Reston was first discovered in 1989 in monkeys sent from the Philippines to a research facility in the US city of Reston, Virginia. According to the WHO's website, investigations traced the source of the outbreak to an export facility near Manila "but the mode of contamination of the facility was not determined". Several monkeys died, and at least four people were infected, although none of them suffered clinical illness, the WHO said. Similar outbreaks in monkey populations were found in 1992 and 1996 in the southern Philippines. A source at the WHO said this is the first time the Ebola-Reston virus had been found in pigs. While the four strains of the Ebola virus found in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Ivory Coast and recently Uganda are known to be deadly to humans, the Ebola-Reston virus was not, the WHO said. Jane Bacayo, executive director of the National Meat Inspection Service, said the Ebola-Reston virus was accidentally discovered when they sent samples to US authorities to find a cure for another disease killing local pigs. They were surprised to find out that an alert was raised after some samples tested positive for the Ebola-Reston strain. He said quarantine checkpoints had been erected on major highways to prevent transport of pigs from the affected areas. "We are trying our best (to prevent) the virus from spreading in other farms in the country, or infect humans," Bacayo said, adding that the hog industry's export potential would be further damaged unless the virus was purged. The head of the government's National Epidemiology Centre, Eric Tayag, said the public should not panic since the virus found locally was not pathogenic to humans. and the web site. news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20081211/hl_afp/philippineshealthfarmanimalsebola_081211171005 (more...)

Open Question: Where can i find a good neurologist?
Hi, my name is Natalie, and i live in russia (in a small city near Moscow).now I can't visit your hospital, i ask you to read this. I have illness. (I'm sorry for my language, i'll do mistakes and i'ms sorry). I should tell at once that i don't know the exact diagnosis of my illness. That's why i'm gonna try to describe my condition. I'm 19 years old, and illness began at the age of nine. Maybe it even became apparent earlier. Everything began from weakness in legs, i was running with friends and noticed that i couldn't run with them and i gor tired very very quickly. Also i felt shiver in my legs and arms. I was laid in the hospital in september and doctors diagnosed it as Sharko Mari. It's all about neurology. Then my illness continued to become worse. And now i can stand leaning on something, and also i can walk holding hands of my father. I can't lift my legs by myself and i can't rise to my feets. i do it with my father, i mean he lifts me. My arms became worse too, but they are much stronger than legs, i can raise hands by myself without difficulty, but i lose the strength in arms every year. It's strange, but me illness becomes worse every year in the end of summer - beginning of autumn. I lose strength in muscle. I should notice that back's muscles are normal, i can seat, i cand stand straight. I should notice that i'm smart and clever, i've finished school with the gold medal and now i'm studying in the economic university in absentia. I tell that cause many doctors ask me about my mental work, they think that i'm dumb and illness affects on my intellect, brains. I have an elder brother, he's 27 years old and he's absolutely healthy, i mean he had never symptoms of my illness. And both of my parents are healthy too, and they don't have any relatives with such kind of illness. We had visit all doctors in Russia (i mean Moscow, the capital of our country and Rostov-on-don, the town where i live). And they don't know what it is. That's why they tell that it's about genetics, some error in DNA, and of course they do not know which gen is responsible for that weakness. When doctors don't know illness they begin to talk about genetics. One of my diagnoses is affection (lesion - i don't know many medical term and i write some variants) of spinal motoneuron. We did different analysis, and as fas as we understand all passing tracts are normal. And i have no muscle atrophy. It's like impulse from my brains doesn't reach muscles and they don't want to work. I read in the internet in russian sites that i have some sort of Spinal Muscle Atrophy. And also i found out that that disease is fatal, and i'll die in the age of 25-27, maybe earlier. And it really scares me, you don't even know how. Because i always believe that some day i'll be healthy as i have been in my childhood when i could run, swim and be happy child. This diagnose tells that i'll die when muscles of my lungs, heart and other inner organs stop their work. And i don't want this. I beg you to help me. Russian doctors refused from me refering to secret genetic code of DNA. And i have neither relatives, nor friends in the USA, but i know how high is level of medicine in your country. Maybe you heard about such illness. Maybe. And you could tell me diagnose, approximate diagnose. It's the most important thing for me. Or maybe you can help me. I hope that you'll read this letter and maybe even answer me. I do not want to die. Please, help me. (more...)

Open Question: Help edit this for me please just copy to Microsoft word ?
This is just a rough draft and has a lot of mistakes can u help me edit it plz and thanks I went to downtown the other day once again the second time alone. I went to Borders, this time i told my mom was going to see if i wanted to buy something. I went by train alone. spending time alone, but yet surrounded by this crowd of strangers . I felt.. safe weird as that sounds. I like living in Chicago, on the north side. They say that Chicago is the murder capital, at that moment i didn't think of it like that, and i never have. Its true I have said that suburban kids are in somehow protected from things that city kids are exposed to daily. But at that moment i realized i was like them, ( in a way)protected by mother, living on the north side. I had never heard a shot in my life, or been related to any kind of murder situation. I got of on Clark and Lake and walked the rest of the way to Borders. I felt safe and i tried not to but I couldn't feel unsafe walking through the crowd as any other person. I tried to imagine if one of them was shot right now what would i do what would i think differently of Chicago? would i like Chicago? I know people die here like in any other place, but this is the murder capital why am i not scared? I entered the store glad to be in a warm place i went to the second floor bought a cup a chocolate and went to the teen section. I grabbed a book i had been reading at the beginning of summer vacation and didn't exactly finish. It was called " Thirteen Reasons Why" It's about a girl who got murdered and some other stuff. i read some but couldn't concentrate all that well and decide to roam the store. I did that for like an hour it was 3:46 when i asked a guy what time it was. I had planned to be home by 4 pm but of course i would be late. It was getting dark as it does in winter. By 5 its already night time. I walked back to Clark and Lake but before i left i stopped at the tea place next to the store but a some tea and left. i was in the train station looking through my bag for my one day pass i couldn't find it. Then i remembered i had 5 bucks and could get a pass or buy train fare so i started looking for that. I couldn't find it at this point i was panicking i had some change in my bag but not enough to call my mom. i told myself " Relax it will be okay, just Relax" I couldn't relax at all so there at Clark and Lake station i was on my knees with all the stuff i had in my bag now on the floor. I had found the one day pass in this book i had. I tried to look for the 5 dollars, too but was too relieved i checked my jean pockets coat nothing so i dumped everything back in. It was 4:29. I heard over the intercom as i went down the stairs that the Blue line train heading towards O'hare would be delayed so i leaned against a pillar and finally Relaxed . That's when i saw him. Guitar case in hand, i couldn't see his face he was looking down at his shoes. He looked at me and caught me staring i was going to look away like that is what you're supposed to do. but i didn't. His eyes were puffy and red like he had cried a river. He had brown eyes like zillions of people. i have always liked blue eyes, green eyes, even hazel but never brown. Brown i so ordinary. My eyes are brown 98 percent of the people i know have brown eyes. But at that moment i fell in love with brown eyes. i loved them i finally liked them. =] I wondered why he had cried so much , i started to wonder if he had a guitar in the case or cloths. i started to wonder if he was old enough to be married i started to analyze him . He wore converse , i thought that's juvenile , he can't be that old. i mean i wear converse. He wore jeans, not baggy thank god. He wore this American Eagle shirt that looked cute on him. He wore his black coat unbuttoned , dark brown hair spiked up. He had a baby face and reminded me of Joe Jonas a little. (joe jonas is so CUTE! just so u know) Click here! to see The guy looked the picture of Joe jonas playing the guitar right bottom corner. i Finally looked away the train was coming, and for some weird reason we sat next to each other on the train. It was strange but i started to weave up a story in my mind of why he ended up here. In this train next. So as i sat there i realized he had a wedding ring. I wouldn't have noticed if he hadn't took it off. He said Hi. and i was like um hi. He said my name is Dave, yours? um i was like um Yerika, i said. He repeated it and he actuality pronounced right so i smiled . He was silent so i began my story in my mind. His had been to the doctor the 2 days before and the asked the doctor " what's wrong me?" the doctor gave him a pitiful look. Dave asked once more " why can't I , well you know?" well " You have this dysfunction, well its genetic and well , didn't your parents tell you? " The doctor handed him some paper work, " Everything you need to know is here, i will prescribe some medicine but you might need surgery, for it to be fixed co (more...)
