Resolved Question: Stupid world! Why can't it be smaller?
Curse the infernal time difference between my own beloved country of England and the good old USofA! Because of it I have apparently missed what's now being reported as The Celebration Of The Century.
I'm referring, of course, to the joyous con-joining of 2 much loved Yahoo regulars - Maggie May & Heybabe (not sure if names are up to date) - in YaHoly Madrimony. I am reliably informed that the Y/A site was specially sanctified for the occasion and thus (should anyone dare Q the validity of the union) I can state in all confidence that they are now legally Yahoo-Wed.
Naturally I'm heartbroken that I was unable to attend the ceremony but, as I say, due to the stupid bigness of the planet and the annoying time difference it causes I was either unconscious throughout the proceedings or too p*ssed to realise my computer was not plugged in. No matter. As long as everyone had a fine old time I'm happy.
Yah-Hoorah!

Resolved Question: What does expunged mean?
A week ago I explained that I had been falsely accused of a felony, the charges were dismissed without prejudice, brought up again the next year, dismissed again without prejudice, and brought up one final time 2 years later this time dismissed WITH prejudice which means they can never be brought up again. However, when I looked up my record on line this ONE charge brought against me THREE times makes me look like the criminal of the century. I am concerned this is going to affect me negatively in the future should I seek employment elsewhere. Lots of people answered telling me there's nothing I can do. But, one answer told me to get a court date from a judge to have my record expunged. What does that mean???
for what it's worth...I have nothing else on my record for anything ever, and, I truly have no idea who did what they accused me of. In fact, the prosecutor herself, apologized directly to me during the proceedings the third time around.

Resolved Question: If Countrywide goes bankrupt, what happens to its mortgages during during the bankruptcy process?
I know that its debts and assets will be sold to other banks. The question is when? Will the sale of its mortgages have to wait until the bankruptcy proceedings are over and it is decided what goes to what bank?
If so, what would happen with delinquent mortgages during this time which is sometimes more than a year ?
Another example would be New Century Financial which has already started bankruptcy last year in April. What happened with some of their mortgages that became delinquent while the bankruptcy was going on?

Voting Question: how long can i stay in a house after my landlord filed for bankruptcy? ( the mortgage was with New Century )?
I am a tenant in a house in CA. My landloard filed for bankruptcy in Nov 2007 and the mortgage on the house was with New Century Financial which also filed for bankruptcy prior to that in April 2007. New Century's bankruptcy case seems to have its final proceedings days this spring ( in april, may, june 2008 ) - http://www.xroadscms.net/newcentury
I am trying to figure out roughly how long will the bankruptcy mess take and how is it handled. Would my landlord's bankruptcy be put on hold until one of New Century's creditors takes ownership of the mortgage / house?

Resolved Question: is it a joke of the century from goa police?
Scarlette keeling was drugged, repeatedly raped and murderd in goa. The police tried to cover up the murder by telling that it was drawning case.
Now that the truth is coming out, the goa police want some lame excuse to delay the proceedings.Their excuses are,
1.The mother of the girl is responsible. She should not have left the girl alone.
2.They want to find out the girls age, which will take a couple of weeks. when the date of birth is readily available in the passport.
Whom are the police covering? why cant they refer the case to the court of law? why the chief minister is afraid to hand over the case to CBI?

Resolved Question: My fellow Catholics how do you feel about the possible exhumation of St. Padre Pio?
ROME (Reuters) - A plan to exhume the remains of Italy's favorite saint to commemorate the 40th anniversary of his death has sparked a protest by followers who threaten to go to court to make sure he rests in peace.
The exhumation would give millions of Italians another chance to pay tribute to Padre Pio, a 20th century mystic monk said to have suffered from stigmata -- bleeding wounds in the hands and feet similar to those of Christ.
Archbishop Domenico D'Ambrosio announced at the weekend his intention to lift the saint from his crypt in southern Italy and put it on full view for several months starting in April.
"It is our duty to allow the generations that come after us the ability to venerate and best care for his mortal remains," D'Ambrosio said in a sermon.
But other Catholics, like Francesco Traversi, who heads the Association Pro-Padre Pio, are threatening to block the exhumation in court.
"They can't do it (without the relatives' permission) because otherwise they'll be committing a crime," Traversi told Reuters by telephone, adding his group would present a legal motion to block the proceedings in the southern city of Foggia.
Traversi said he had the support of Padre Pio's closest relatives -- his niece and her daughters -- although an Italian news agency quoted one relative denying that.
Padre Pio's popularity is hard to overestimate. A Catholic magazine once found far more Italian Catholics pray to him than any other icon of the faith, including the Virgin Mary or Jesus.
Born Francesco Forgione, the Capuchin friar was said to have wrestled with the devil in his monastery cell and also to have predicted future events.
Padre Pio, who died in 1968 at the age of 81, was even said to have had the power to appear in two places at once.
Pope John Paul II made him a saint in 2002 at a ceremony that drew one of the biggest crowds ever at the Vatican. The Church had said it found evidence that the miraculous cure of a sick woman was due to the dead monk's intercession.

Resolved Question: Could this happen, or has it happened, with US immigration today?
I just read about William Tweed's activities during the Tammany Hall days in the late 19th/early 20th centuries. Here's a quote:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tammany_Hall
"Under Tweed, special naturalization committees were established to complete the forms, pay the fees and obtain the witnesses necessary for naturalizing immigrants, and judges were compelled to expedite naturalization proceedings."
Or were the laws during this period in American history more immigrant-friendly or just more absent than they are today?

Resolved Question: Human Caused Global Warming- Fact or Fiction?
The Myth of Dangerous Human-Caused Climate Change
Author/s: R M Carter
Paper ID: 702012
Year of Publication: 2007
Volume Title
Conference Proceedings - New Leaders' 2007
Abstract:
Human-caused global warming has become the environmental cause celebre of the early 21st century. The strong warming alarmist camp currently includes the United Nations, most Western governments, most of the free press, many large corporations (including Enron, before it failed), the major churches, most scientific organisations and a large portion of general public opinion. This phalanx of support notwithstanding there is no scientific consensus as to the danger of human-induced climate change. There is, therefore, a strong conflict between the level of public alarm and its scientific justification. How can this be?
In a democracy, the media serve to convey to the public the facts and hypotheses of climate change as provided by individual scientists, governmental and international research agencies, and NGO and other lobby groups. In general, the media have promulgated an alarmist cause for climate change; they have certainly failed to convey the degree of uncertainty that is characteristic of climate science, or a balanced summary of the many essential facts that are relevant to human causation.
Climate change is as much a geological as it is a meteorological issue. Natural climate changes, both warmings and coolings, are indeed a societal hazard. We usually deal with geological hazards by providing civil defence authorities and the public with accurate, evidence-based, general information about events like earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and floods, and then by adapting to the effects when a damaging event occurs. As for other major natural disasters, the appropriate preparation for extreme climate events is to mitigate and manage the negative effects when they occur, and especially so for dangerous coolings. Attempting instead to ?stop climate change? by reducing human carbon dioxide emissions is a costly exercise of utter futility. Rational climate policies must be based on adaptation to dangerous change as and when it occurs, and irrespective of its sign or causation.
The issue now is no longer climate change as such, the reality of which will always be with us. Rather, the issues are, first, the failure of the free press to inform the public about the true facts of human-caused climate change and of the dangers posed by natural climate change. And, second, the vested interests held by many of the groups of warming alarmists. These interests include not only the obvious commercial ones, but also the many scientists and science managers who have discounted or remained silent about the huge uncertainties of the human-caused global warming hypothesis because it suited them to do so. Public opinion will soon demand an explanation as to why experienced editors and hardened investigative journalists, worldwide, have melted before the blowtorch of self-induced guilt, political correctness and special interest expediency that marks the sophisms of global warming alarmists.

Resolved Question: Why did Bush eliminate the Posse Comitatus Act? Why is he paving the road for a dictatorship in the USA?.....
"Paradoxically, preserving liberty may require the rule of a single leader--a dictator--willing to use those dreaded 'extraordinary measures,' which few know how, or are willing, to employ." -- Michael Ledeen, White House advisor and fellow of the American Enterprise Institute, "Machiavelli on Modern Leadership: Why Machiavelli's Iron Rules Are As Timely and Important Today As Five Centuries Ago"
"Gen. Tommy Franks says that if the United States is hit with a weapon of mass destruction that inflicts large casualties, the Constitution will likely be discarded in favor of a military form of government." -- NewsMax, November 21, 2003
In October 2006, Bush signed into law the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007. Quietly slipped into the law at the last minute, at the request of the Bush administration, were sections changing important legal principles, dating back 200 years, which limit the U.S. government's ability to use the military to intervene in domestic affairs. These changes would allow Bush, whenever he thinks it necessary, to institute martial law--under which the military takes direct control over civilian administration.
Sec. 1042 of the Act, "Use of the Armed Forces in Major Public Emergencies," effectively overturns what is known as posse comitatus. The Posse Comitatus Act is a law, passed in 1878, that prohibits the use of the regular military within the U.S. borders. The original passage of the Posse Comitatus Act was a very reactionary move that sealed the betrayal of Black people after the Civil War and brought the period of Reconstruction to an end. It decreed that federal troops could no longer be used inside the former Confederate states to enforce the new legal rights of Black people. Black people were turned over to the armed police and Klansmen serving the southern plantation owners, and the long period of Jim Crow began.
During the 20th century, posse comitatus objectively started to play a new role within the bourgeois democratic framework: as a legal barrier to the direct influence of the powerful military establishment and the armed forces over domestic U.S. society. It served to some degree as an obstacle against military coups and presidents seizing military control over the country. (However, National Guard troops have been legally available to the ruling class for use inside the U.S., and there have been other loopholes to the prohibition of the use of armed forces domestically, as in the mobilization of Marine troops during the 1992 L.A. Rebellion.)
So the changes to posse comitatus signed into law by Bush are extremely significant and ominous. Bush has modified the main exemptions to posse comitatus that up to now have been primarily defined by the Insurrection Act of 1807. Previously the president could call out the army in the United States only in cases of insurrection or conditions where "rebellion against the authority of the United States, make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State or Territory by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings." Under the new law the president can use the military in response to a natural disaster, a disease outbreak, a terrorist attack or "other condition in which the President determines that domestic violence has occurred to the extent that state officials cannot maintain public order."
The new law requires the President to notify Congress "as soon as practicable after the determination and every 14 days thereafter during the duration of the exercise of the authority." However Bush, as he has often done during his presidency, modified this requirement in his signing statement, which declared, "The executive branch shall construe such provisions in a manner consistent with the President's constitutional authority to withhold information the disclosure of which could impair foreign relations, the national security, the deliberative processes of the Executive." In other words, Bush claims that he does not even need to inform Congress that martial law has been declared!
Changing Role of Military Within the U.S.
This major change in the criteria under which martial law can be declared is a continuation of a process, begun after 9/11, to dismantle legal barriers to unrestrained executive, presidential powers.
In 2002, the government created the new Northern Command. This is the first time since the Civil War that the U.S. military has been given an operational command inside the continental United States.
In 2005, the Washington Post reported that Northcom had developed battle plans for martial law in the U.S. One secret document, CONPLAN 2005, envisions 15 different scenarios where these plans could go into effect.
The U.S. has also used natural disasters like Katrina to push for an increased role for the military. According to the Washington Post, Bush advisor Karl Rove told the governor of Louisiana that she should explore legal options to impose martial law "or as close as we can get."
Spying by the military against U.S. persons, also supposedly prohibited, has greatly expanded in recent years. Counterintelligence Field Activity (CIFA) was created in 2002 supposedly to evaluate threats against Department of Defense installations. However, a secret 400-page document obtained by MSNBC revealed that CIFA had spied on more than 1500 "suspicious incidents" during a ten-month period, including a meeting of Quakers to plan a protest of military recruiting at local high schools and an anti-war protest in Los Angeles.
James Risen has exposed in the New York Times and in his book State of War: The Secret History of the CIA and the Bush Administration that the National Security Agency, which is under the Department of Defense, has been used in a massive campaign of illegal spying of U.S. citizens, including tapping phone calls and monitoring bank and financial records and the internet. (See Revolution #35, "Spies, Lies, Thugs and Torture.")
In 2006, the Military Commissions Act was passed which, in addition to legalizing torture, allows the president and military courts to declare anyone an enemy combatant without basic civil rights like habeas corpus.
Plans for massive detention centers are already being prepared. Pacific News Service reported that in early 2006, Kellogg Brown and Root (KBR) received a $385 million contract from the Department of Homeland Security to build detention and processing facilities to be used "in the event of an emergency influx of immigrants into the U.S. or to support the rapid development of new programs."
Would They Really Go That Far?
The Bush Regime's preparations for martial law are part of an extreme agenda. This is a regime that is setting out to create a world empire that is unchallenged and unchallengeable and has embarked on an endless war to bring this about. Along with this, they aim to restructure social relations in the U.S., doing away with many of the social and economic institutions that have characterized U.S. society since World War 2. Because of this extreme agenda, the Bush regime takes very seriously the possibility of jolts and ruptures and resistance and are preparing very extreme measures to deal with this.
On February 27, 1933, a fire broke out in the Reichstag (government) building in Germany. The next day Hitler and his Minister of the Interior Hermann Goering drafted the Reichstag Fire Decree, which suspended civil liberties and gave the central government total power. The decree was signed into law within days. After that point, opposition to Hitler became MUCH more difficult.
In the U.S. today, extreme measures much like the Reichstag Fire Decree are already being put into place--making it even more urgent that a determined struggle be waged to drive out the Bush regime and reverse this dangerous trajectory.

The videos are of tv news reports, not made up conspiracy theories.
I know what the posse comitatus act is, that was just a part of the question. Martial law would make the president a dictator, because of the executive orders that Bush has created. He gave himself dictatorial powers, in the event of a terrorist attack, natural disaster, or anything that the president decides merits martial law - he has complete discretion over does or doesn't merit martial law.
