Chef's Choice 300 Diamond Hone Knife Sharpener, White
Chef's Choice 300 Diamond Hone Knife Sharpener, White This electric sharpener is so simple to use that knives practically sharpen themselves. It puts a professional-style edge on any kitchen or sporting knife (except serrated knives). Because magnetic guides hold a blade at the proper angles, no guesswork is involved. You simply grip your knife loosely and pull it lightly through the sharpener's slots without pressing down. Key to this knife sharpener's performance is the two different stages: the sharpening stage and the second honing stage, which polishes the blade to a razor edge. Those two stages create different bevels, putting a "shoulder" on an edge instead of sharpening with a single bevel. The shoulder strengthens the edge so it lasts longer. For each stage there is a pair of slots, and the slots use 100 percent diamond abrasives for hardness. The sharpener measures 7 inches long, 4-1/4 inches high, and 3-3/4 inches deep and carries a two-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Kitchen:  100 percent diamond abrasives sharpen carbon and stainless-steel knives, First stage sharpens blade, second hones razor edge, Magnetic guides hold blade at proper angles; no need to press down, Double-bevel edge is sharper and lasts longer than factory or professional edges, 1-year warranty against defects

Home to the Sea
Home to the Sea This album, the fourth San Sebastian Strings release and the second of The Sea trilogy, was the highest-charting of them all, reaching #20 in early 1969. That's actor Jesse Pearson narrating, by the way, not Rod McKuen; Jesse was actually the principal narrator of the series along with Anita Kerr Singers member Gene Merlino.

Sophie's Choice
Sophie's Choice The sunny streets of Brooklyn, just after World War II. A young would-be writer named Stingo (Peter MacNicol) shares a boarding house with beautiful Polish immigrant Sophie (Meryl Streep) and her tempestuous lover, Nathan (Kevin Kline); their friendship changes his life. This adaptation of the bestselling novel by William Styron is faithful to the point of being reverential, which is not always the right way to make a film come to life. But director Alan J. Pakula (All the President's Men) provides a steady, intelligent path into the harrowing story of Sophie, whose flashback memories of the horrors of a Nazi concentration camp form the backbone of the movie. Streep's exceptional performance--flawless Polish accent and all--won her an Oscar, and effectively raised the standard for American actresses of her generation. No less impressive is Kevin Kline, in his movie debut, capturing the mercurial moods of the dangerously attractive Nathan. The two worlds of Sophie's Choice, nostalgic Brooklyn and monstrous Europe, are beautifully captured by the gifted cinematographer Néstor Almendros, whose work was Oscar-nominated but didn't win. It should have. --Robert Horton

2 KENMORE HEPA FILTERS #86889
2 KENMORE HEPA FILTERS #86889 This filter is designed to fit Kenmore uprights using a HEPA filter (86889). Kenmore uprights are actually manufactured by Panasonic for Sears, so this filter will fit all Panasonic uprights using a HEPA filter also. This HEPA filter is imperative for homes with allergies are breathing issues. The acronym HEPA stands for "High Efficiency Particulate Air". These advanced filters are a very important upgrade on today's vacuum cleaners, as they force air through microscopic screens, capturing even the smallest of particles such as dust mites, pollen, animal dander, and even most bacteria. After 1 year of usage (average homes, more sensitive homes should replace more often the once a year) these microscopic screens become blocked with the particles, which forces your vacuum's motor to work harder and harder to force the air through the filter. The more often you replace these filters, the longer the vacuum will last. The filter measures; 6"L x 3.85"W x .5"H.

Kitchen:  Designed to fit Kenmore Upright Vacuums, Also Fits Panasonic Upright Vacuums taking a HEPA filter, Captures 99.7% of all Allergens down to .3 microns, A Must Have For Allergy Suffers And Homes With Asthmatics, Filter is Gasketed so There Is No Air/Dust Leakage

Open Question: Going from active guard to active duty?
Im Texas National Guard currently in Iraq. I want to switch to active duty after this tour. Ive heard the best way to switch is while Im here. I go home in July. There is a law saying you cant switch until 9 months after completion of basic training. I finished basic Aug. 8 2008. Ive been told you have a choice of a bonus or duty station. Can someone please explain how all this works? Thanks (more...)

Open Question: Which gym do you prefer?
I'm considering joining a gym. Usually, I work out at home. Have treadmill, bowflex. etc... But my treadmill is on the blink. So, which gym do you guys like? I don't like large commercial gyms. (Golds, Bally, LA Fitness) I've checked out Fitness 19 & Anytime Fitness. Does anyone have pros and cons to these choices? (more...)

Open Question: I'm overdue & scared of being induced next week - any ideas to encourage this baby out?
I am currently 6 days overdue & have had a few times when I thought labour was imminent - 2 hours of regular contractions - then nothing! was at midwife this week & she did a membrane sweep which gave me a bit of a show that night & some regular period like pains, but again it fizzled out. So here I am, fed up & wanting this over with. Im due to be induced next week, but am worried about this - just the thought of being put into pain by them instead of labour coming on naturally at home. This is my second baby - I was 5 days over last time. I know I have a choice on being induced but I was hoping the threat would bring me on LOL! I know also I need to be patient - this time next week I will be exhausted & holding my new baby. Im just looking for any suggestions other than walking, sex, castor oil, curries & raspberry tea. Thanks in advance! (more...)

Open Question: Am I bulking up too fast? I weighed 143.6 one week ago, and now I weigh 150 today!?
Here's the deal: I am about 5"6 and before I started bulking about 3 weeks ago I weighed a solid 140ish. I gained a few pounds from the holidays (no regrets there) and when I weighed myself January 2nd I was 143.6. I weighed myself this morning exactly one week later and now I'm at 150! I lift about 4 times a week hard and heavy with only compound (best for overall muscle building) and am getting into Olympic lifts such as cleans and jerks. I do about 40-45 minutes of 8 min/mile on my off days, so about 2-3 times a week. I am currently working in Bulgaria in a small town. Needless to say, my nutritional choices are limited, but I am bulking as clean as possible with a diet heavy in beans, nuts, whole grain breads, some cheeses (preferably low fat), whey powders sent from home in the US, eggs, milk, yogurt, and meat daily. I reckon my protein intake is at least 130 - 140 grams a day, my carbs more than twice that, and my fat intake probably around 100 grams a day. They are all healthy fats though from the nuts and sunflower oil for cooking. If I had to estimate my calories, it would be well above 3000, perhaps even above 3500. I've only gained a bit of lower abdominal fat and my face feels a bit heavier, but I think that is from paranoia more than anything. BUT I've been making gains in the weight room from workout to workout, each time. 6.4 lbs in a week (I weigh myself in the morning after bathroom) is a lot. Should I be concerned about excess fat gain? I know it's inevitable, but I do want to keep making gains and I'm going to cut as hard as I'm bulking now, diet and training-wise. I am using the mirror as a judge more than anything... but I'm gaining really fast and am wondering if it is just a result of my body type/reaction. If I hit 160+ I am going to start a maintenance period for a week or 2, then start cutting hard. I know this is difficult to comment on without pictures or more detail, but like I said I only noticed a little bit of ab fat, but definitely feel much stronger overall. Thanks in advance! (more...)

Open Question: Will this workout plan and food plan make me lose fat?
Hey so I've been doing this plan for about 1 week now. I just want to make sure that it will work. My workout: Taken care of - I have a personal trainer (in my highschool weight room. he is employed by my school so he is official) that makes workouts every week monday through friday, and I workout on all weekdays. On wednesday, it is a extremely easy workout for recovery purposes. The workouts are usually, deadlift variations, bench press variations, squat variations, core, several press variations (dumbell press, inclne press, military press), shrug and lateral raise variations, and more. I run on (saturday/sunday) my choice, tuesday, and thursday for 15-25 minutes. My eating plan: -wakeup at 6:40am and head for the plain cheerios, oatmeal (not much though), or honey bunches of oats - have a apple at 10:00 ish at school -at 12:00 ish i have rice with teryaki sauce or a sandwich(dark rye bread, mayo, mustard, pickles, swiss cheese, roast beef, lettuce), or chili cheese fries - after school before my workout, i eat a handful of almonds - i come home to a orange, banana, (or both), or cucumber with lemon, or activia yogurt, or plain yogurt - for dinner, i usually try to go for chicken and if my mom doesnt make that, i go for a bunch of fruits or maybe the cereals mentioned before - i have lipton green tea from the teabag afterwards while i do my homework (more...)

Open Question: Should we move to a relative's rent home?
My husband and I are low income and we live in not so good apt area cuz of what we can afford and the ppl in our community are pretty much same what we are. BUT we just had a baby girl, i dont have family here, they're all overseas. My husband's family is here and we do get along 'okay". Now one of his relative has a big house (builded new) and they have apt and wanted us to rent their apt, cuz their home is in nice area, by lake, safe environment and they have 3 little kids can play with our daughter. It all sound lovely and nice, but we feel weird cuz we're low income and they are very rich. I wonder everyday living there would that affect us? Raising our daughter and seeing their kids have it all while we don't? My husband works hard and takes bus everyday while her husband is rich and has it easy life. I want to make right choice, move there to have a nice home/life? or stay where we are, the real life what we can afford and who we are? i've been all over the world and in rich and poor places. I don't have problem where we are living right now, it doesn't bother us. I'm surprised his family had to offer us that idea cuz his family is in "nice" places. At first i felt offended but I consider it as they're helping us out, really? why didnt offer it in first place when we got married last year? They never visited us here until our baby was born, they started visit here but they don't like this place/area cuz that's not where they're "from". (more...)

Open Question: Legal Problem...please help!?
I am awaiting trial on an embezzlement case in a state that I moved to 8 months ago. I pleaded not guilty at the arraignment trial. They haven't set my trial date yet and its been almost a month. I've never been arrested before and I don't have a criminal record. I got caught up trying to help some people with the company I was working for. I don't have family and friends here and I would like to move back to my home state. I'm scared but I may not have a choice. I may lose my job and apartment if they find out that I am awaiting trial for embezzlement. But I haven't had good luck here in this southern state since I moved here and I really would like to go home. What will happen if I leave and miss my court date? Will they come to my home state to find me? Can I come back and stand trial? Is there a state jurisdiction or something? What is the most punishment that I will get if this is my first offense and I'm willing to make restitution? (more...)

Open Question: Out of State Tuition - Will FAFSA help cover the costs?
I'm currently attending a small university in my home state of MN. I'm a junior, but should have about 1.5 years left after this spring semester. I know the financially wiser choice is to finish up here, but i seriously want to transfer down to UH in TX. Their out of state tuition is over $12,000 per semester for 15 credits. Will FAFSA be able to help me cover the costs of tuition? I'm currently getting enough to pay my school's tuition which is about $4000 a semester, if I include the grants and loans. Will the need of financial aid and the higher cost of tuition raise the amount of grants and loans I can take? (more...)
