1985 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship - Villanova vs. Georgetown

The defending champion Georgetown Hoyas were a likely team to make it to the championship game in 1985. They were the No.1 team in the country and had Co-Player of the Year Patrick Ewing at center. Villanova, on the other hand, wasn't even ranked and had lost to the Hoyas both times the two teams met in the Big East play. Nevertheless, the underdog Wildcats shot 78.6 percent (22 for 28) and won, 66-64.

Open Question: Is Liberty University good for academics?
I'm considering Liberty but I have heard the academics aren't very good. I have a 4.1 GPA (that's weighted) and AP classes, along with several extracurric's and Ntl Honor Society. I know they have Division I soccer or whatever, but I'm not going for sports. Listen, I know they are a Christian university and you may not agree with Jerry Falwell, but I'm just asking about the academics. Thanks so much! :)

Voting Question: Some University courses are worthless in the really world?
Is the University holding you back with worthless wasteful classes, that only increase the University profits.
A graduate visited one of my upper division classes, and he said that our class, not only was the repetition of a high school class but it did not existed during his graduation in the early 90's?
He was talking about high school geometry, proofs of isosceles triangles, rectangles, obtuse angles, right angle, lines, etc, simple elementary geometry teached by a cripple teacher Mr Bishop which spend 50% of the class time giving instructions to his aid then the aid posting the class then trying to remake an already discovered geometry.
Any body taking such a waste full class at Cal state University L.A or other school.
Classes which only in the classroom exist or taken before like High School Biology again in at a state University or Sex education which is no different then Anatomy for high school.?
HS classes and the cognate equivalents in college are determined by the STATE dept of Education.
Well they are not.
attacking the facts doesn't change them.
In addition I'm not writing about equivalent courses but the not equivalent thus why universities are profiting using none equivalent courses.

Resolved Question: Were you aware that until the 1920s, custody rights were automatically granted to fathers?
It seems that many people are unaware that custody arrangements are a fairly recent thing. The popular view is that women were seen as "natural" custodians, but historically up to the 1920s, the exact opposite is true.
Here is an article published by Stanford University which details how things were, until around the 1920s. The full text can be found here:
http://www.stanford.edu/group/psylawseminar/Child%20Custody%20in%20the%20USA%20(Page%201%20of%205).htm
"In Roman, and later in English common law, children were viewed as the property of the father, who had a legal obligation to protect, support and educate his children. Fathers had the right as well to sell their children, and to enter them into enforced labor. In divorce, until the mid-nineteenth century, fathers had a near absolute right to custody, regardless of circumstances.
Several major historical trends converged to weaken this paternal presumption in the late 1800's, including society's increasing focus on children's welfare, and the effects of the industrial revolution. As fathers increasingly sought work beyond the farm or village, mothers remained at home as primary caretakers. The resultant division of family responsibilities into wage earner and child nurturer influenced subsequent custody decisions.
The paternal preference was gradually replaced by a maternal preference, based on the "tender years" presumption. The tender years doctrine (intended to apply to children under age 6) was originally invoked to determine temporary custody arrangements in English law, giving mothers custody of infants only until they were ready to be returned to the father. But by the 1920's, the maternal preference for custody in English and American law, regardless of the child's age, became as firmly fixed as the earlier paternal preference, and was encoded in statute in all 48 states."
Were you aware that until the 1920s, custody rights were automatically granted to fathers?

Resolved Question: Could I play in the NBA if I only go to a Canadian University?
I live in a small city in Ontario, and I am in grade 10 and am one of the best players in my city. I go to my junior practices and the senior practices when ever I can. I also play for my OBA team but unfortunately we are Division 6 because all of my teammates don't give a shit about basketball and they suck. And the coaches ain't top class either. I play for a regional team in the summer and am an average player there, but unfortunately I have dumbed down a bit because the competition isn't as good here then it was during my regional team when we played in the Ontario Summer Games. I hope to play in the NBA but with this City lacking the talent and I don't have the money to play for a better team, I won't be scouted by any NCAA scouts. I don't know what to do, and I don't want my dream of being an NBA pro die. I have only started playing in grade 8 and have gone a long way from being a bench warmer for my city team to winning the Division 2 gold medal at the Ontario Summer Games, and I don't want all this hard work to go to waste. I plan to lead our win at AAA OFSAA next year for my senior year becasue we have the best grade 12 shooter and point guard in my city coming back next year for grade 13. So we will have a good senior team next year. I guess what I am asking is if I get scouted by a Ontario University could I still play NBA. I know I would have to work on creating hype but would there be a chance that I can live my dream? Also, do NCAA scouts come to watch the OFSAA events? Thanks in advance for taking the time out and answering this question.
