When Bob's dad Bob arrives for an unexpected visit, a simple case of mistaken identity lands Bob and his crew a big job restoring a crumbling castle--under the leadership of Bob Senior. Problem is, Bob's dad isn't quite up to the role of foreman nor are Bob and Wendy comfortable taking orders from him. Naturally, the construction crew steps up to the challenge, assuming names like "Sir Roll-a-Lot" and "Lady Dump-a-Lot" and learning all about medieval castles and legends as they work. There are a lot of young women that Esperanza looks up to. Most of them are in abusive relationships that they can?t get out of. Marin has pretty green eyes. She is older than Esperanza, so she knows more. She wants a guy to come and change her life for her. ?Marin, under the street light, dancing by herself, is singing the same song somewhere. I know. Is waiting for a car to stop, a star to fall, someone to change her life.?(p.27) Marin wants to get away from Mango Street, but she wants someone to do it for her. In the vignette ?Marin? it explains a lot about Marin and what her personality is like. Most of all it talks about how she is pretty and a lot of guys look at her. She is just waiting for one of them to change her life forever. Abusive relationships can be hard to get out of. Sally is one of Esperanza?s friends. Her dad hits her and she can?t do anything about it. Sally?s mom doesn?t say anything about it she just rubs lard on all her bruises. Her dad treats her like an animal. Her dad thinks that she is going to run away like his sisters did. ?He never hits me hard. She said her mama rubs lard on all the places where it hurts. Then at school she?d say she fell. That?s where all the blue places come from. That?s why her skin is always scarred.?(p.92) in the vignette ?What Sally Said? it talks about her abusive relationship with her dad. You can picture the bruises on her face, and feel the pain she feels. Alicia is a smart girl. She is trying to find her own way off of Mango Street. I'm picking my classes for next year this Tuesday. And I'm getting stressed out wondering if I should take Spanish 3 or not. Right now I'm a sophomore (in spanish 2) and I only need two years of spanish to graduate. This is my last year. But I'm thinking about college. I'm planning on going to a 4 year school. And the school I plan on going to, I think requires two years of spanish. I have an A- in spanish right now. But I don't really like taking it. I know the benefit of taking it is that I'll know more spanish (since a lot of spanish speaking people are coming here and are here right now) But I'm not worried about that. So my question is... How much of a difference would it be to take a third year of spanish? How would it look on my college application? Would it really make me stand out more and get accepted into the college? See I'm afraid if I don't take it, I'll kick myself when it could have helped me after all. Ugh! What should I do!? Should I take Spanish 3 next year or just get an elective? My cat's eye has been watery (clear discharge). It also gets a lot of eye-bugers and sometimes gets matted. She only opens its about 3/4 of the way, compared to her other eye that is opened all the way. It does NOT seem to be painful, that i know of. (my friend:) ok, theres this girl i like and she is soo cute. we have 3 outa 6 classes together so its awsome. i asked her if she wanted to see a movie with me, but as friends not a date. she said yes without hesitating and i was so happy, even though i looked like i was cool about it but screaming (like a dude would) of excitement. when we meet at the theatre we decided to see valkyria, the one with tom cruise. but one of the worst things happend! her friend and her boyfriend (friend's boyfriend not the one im with) shows up! its not that i dont like them, its just that i wanted some alone time with the girl i like... the boyfriend, he is in one of my classes and we kinda talk. he's kool but not really a friend: aquaintance. his girlfriend is ok, but shes like the "OMG OMG OMG! AHHHH!" type of girls when she sees a purse she likes. anyhow, they hugged. her boyfriend and i "bop-ed" knuckles (i can never discribe that lol). when we got inside and sat down (we came during the previews so the lights were off) we sat in this order: me, girl i like, her friend, the boyfriend. they were whispering to each other but i herd this: her friend, "aint this fun? an unplanned double-date?" "yeah," the girl i like smiled." i pretended not to hear them, but i was happy inside that she might actually take this as a date! i dunno, i thought we came as friends.... but do friends go on dates?! when the movie was over the girl i liked had to go home cuz her dad was outside in the parking lot (i dont know how long he was there @_@) so she gave me a hug goodbye and left. the couple asked me to hang with them but i didnt want to b a 3rd wheel so i said i had to go to the store (but i walked home) does the girl i like, like me?! or am i just getting over excited?!?! i dunno but i cant stop thinking about her! Okay. I seen this boy around a lot but i never talked to him. He had a girlfriend and i had her in my first period we would talk sometimes but i dont really consider her a friend. So they broke up and they been broken up for about a month or two now. I asked about them and she said he didnt trust her so they broke up and he tryed to get back with her but she didnt want him back. I also heard she treated him like sh*t, and one time she told him he can only go up to her at school on wednesdays thursdays and fridays. So about a week later i said one word to him. And from there we started talking. I known him for about 3 weeks now, and we messed around and we talk everyday. Hes already tryed asking me out twice. BUT!! his ex has a boyfriend. I dont know how long they been going out but she has one. So that made me think "mhmmmm i may be a rebound to make her jealous, or he sees she got one quick, so so does he." i asked him if he was over her he said yeah cause they were only together for 2months.
