Map of Shenandoah Valley from Winchester to New Market, Virginia and from Millwood to Waverly P.O., including parts of Frederick, Clarke, Warren, Shenandoah, and Page counties, Virginia. (Civil War Map Reprint: 27" x 36")

High quality reproduction of a historic map from the Civil War Map Collection from the Library of Congress. (most 1860s-1890s). Collection contains nearly 1,700 maps from the digital collections. Some are just from the era of the Civil War, while most are battlefield maps made during or soon after the end of the war. We currently list only those maps that are in the public domain. These maps vary significantly in image density, size, wear, visual appeal, and quality. We are in the process of digitally "cleaning up" these maps to try to restore them to the extent possible. This is a very time consuming process and some types of damage cannot be repaired. We are also producing these maps as orders or inquiries are made about them individually (also keep in mind that some people want to receive prints of the maps as is--i.e. without removal of wear, aging, library stamps, and damage). These are High Quality Prints offered by AntiqueReprints.

Moog

A man who genuinely revolutionized late-20th Century music gets his due with
Moog, writer-director Hans Fjellestad's absorbing documentary about Robert Moog, inventor of the synthesizer that bears his name. In his seventies when this 2004 film was made, Moog began working with electronic music in the late 1940s, when he designed and built theremins (the source of the wavy sci-fi sound heard on the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations"). But it was the development of the Moog synthesizer, an analog instrument with electronic components, that put him on the map. Unsurprisingly, it was initially dismissed as a soulless novelty, a notion not helped by its use in silly commercial jingles; Moog himself was regarded as nothing less than a dangerous anarchist out to destroy music as we know it. That all changed when he added a keyboard to his machine and musicians of all stripes gradually began using it for more serious ends. Moog credits Walter (now Wendy) Carlos'
Switched-On Bach as the first important milestone, and the list of major artists who have used it since then includes the Beatles (on
Abbey Road), Stevie Wonder (a vital early proponent who for some reason goes completely unmentioned here), Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and Rick Wakeman of Yes. The latter two perform briefly in the film, as do many others (P-Funk's Bernie Worrell, Sun Ra, Charlie Clouser of Nine Inch Nails), but Moog is the star here. Indeed, it's hard not to believe this genial, self-effacing man when he talks of the "spiritual connection" between his invention and the people who play it.

The Art of Baroque Dance: Folies d'Espagne From Page to Stage

A FRENCH BAROQUE DANCE VIDEO ILLUMINATES THE POWER OF THE PAST FOR APPRECIATION IN THE PRESENT This DVD/VHS program, THE ART OF BAROQUE DANCE : Folies d Espagne from Page to Stage DVD in English and French; VHS in English only explores the elements that enable us to better understand the historical preservation of dance, from the academic page to its transformation into a vibrant performance. This fascinating video, produced in France, reveals the 17th century Baroque dance of the sophisticated era of King Louis XIV. The king, himself an excellent dancer, ordered the invention of a notation system for dance to teach, codify, and spread this art. The French still continue to celebrate 17th century dance today. It is considered to be the most perfect form of art, uniting all of the qualities needed to educate one s body and soul. Created by dancers in Paris, the new video, THE ART OF BAROQUE DANCE, is generously layered with a wealth of historic architectural and artistic images. The video s director/choreographer, Natalie Van Parys, has an outstanding French Baroque heritage. Through this video, her lifetime of knowledge and experience enable the next generation to appreciate a venerable art from the past. In this important DVD/VHS, one famous dance, Folies d Espagne, is beautifully explored. This popular dance, with its music, has been selected because it features short highly expressive pieces. Each variation has its own temperament, which is inspiration for that choreography. By viewing the re-creation of this one Baroque dance, Folies d Espagne, the viewer can trace 5 important characteristics portrayed in this dance performance: Dance notation, Treatment of space, Arm embellishments, Relation to music and Interpretation of the dancer. Thus, this video explores the creative process of researching, reconstructing, re-creating, and performing a Baroque dance. With THE ART OF BAROQUE DANCE : Folies d' Espagne from Page to Stage the public will be able to uncover the secrets of the interpretation of a dance, discover its beauty, better understand the elegance and virtuosity of the French Baroque style, and enter into the world of the very close relationship that existed between dance and music in the 17th century.

Blue & The Gray (Original Uncut Version)

Before Ken Burns,
Glory, and
Gettysburg, the Civil War proved an effective backdrop for this 1982 miniseries--available complete and uncut on this three-disc set--about two families divided by the War Between the States. John Hammond stars as John Geyser, a Southerner caught "betwixt and between" when he becomes a war correspondent for the Northern newspaper published by his uncle. Like a Civil War-era Forrest Gump, he finds himself "where history's in the making," from the Battle of Bull Run to the scene of President Abraham Lincoln's assassination. Stacy Keach costars as an Army scout who takes the "fresh off the farm" Geyser under his wing. Julia Duffy is the schoolmarm who loves Keach. The ham-handed dialogue is a guilty pleasure ("What's wrong with this land that produces such a bitter fruit?" asks the embittered Geyser). The meticulously mounted battle scenes, though, are a Civil War reenactor's dream.

Open Question: From different points of view, on homosexuality?
I am in the 8th grade and required to do a 20+ page research report on a topic of our choosing. I chose to try to determine if homosexuality is a gene, an affect of society or a lifestyle choice. This is proposed assuming some homosexuals do choose the lifestyle regardless or it's "setbacks" or complications. (just trying to prevent a fight). I am trying to get all points of view on this matter, so if you have any history in psychiatry, or you are a homosexual, or you were raised in a homosexual household, please contact me! i would love to ask some questions. God bless. : ]]

Open Question: What happened? Did my computer get virused? Please help.?
I went to this site pretty much by accident, thepiratebay {DO NOT GO ON THIS SITE. WEIRD STUFF IS GOING ON.} Suddenly, my internet slowed down, so I had to close the browser and open a new one. Trouble is, I didn't get my home page. Instead, I got that error page. You know, the one that says "the following page cannot be displayed"? Only, it LOOKED like one of those pages, I don't think it WAS. It said something different, and didn't look 100% authentic. My internet is okay now, but I'm scared that my computer is hacked now or something. The REALLY twisted part? That website didn't show up in my browser history. Honestly. It's not there at ALL. I'm really freaked out. Help, please??? I'm begging.

Open Question: so i have to do this paper an base it on two schools of thought (e.g psychoanalysis , trait theory, humanistic?
approach ect...
So im doing it on the psychoanalytic approach and trait theory to best describe my personality. So do these two schools of thought good to describe my personalty. Or should i choose something else such as behaviroal appraoch or cognitive ecct..... the paper much consists of test scores personal history an expalantory diary
Now for the diary how should i word it out is it just a daily journal of what goes on in my life or should it go into the depths of psychological matter...
this is what i got so far please give me feedback and what grade would i receive based on what i have so far the minimum pages is 8or more. There is no need to cite only the text since that's where most of the information comes from . 10POINTS FOR THE BEST ANSWER THANK YOU AND HAVE A NICE DAY
There are many types of personality approaches that help people understand themselves better. Some personality approaches such as psychoanalytic approach go in depth about people?s unconscious mind and how it affects their daily lifestyles while other approaches such as the trait approach explains . Each school of thought has different reasons for why individuals behave different. The two schools of thought that best describe my personality are the psychoanalytic approach and the trait approach based on their theories, and primary data such as test scores, explanatory diary, and personal history can help support those theories for identifying my personality.
The psychoanalytic approach discusses about how an individual?s unconscious mind affects our daily lives. Freud?s theory of personality helps explain my personality through the topographic model, which Freud divides the personality into three parts the conscious, preconscious, and unconscious mind. I at times do not bring my unconscious thought to mind and most of my thoughts are in my unconscious mind. Freud?s structural model which consist of the id, ego, and superego which place a part with the three levels of awareness the unconscious, preconscious, and conscious mind. I believe that my unconscious mind holds most of my thoughts and. People use a psychoanalytical approach in their daily lives when they interact with other people. For example you are walking down the street and you see a man in a business suit, a clean-shaven face, a combed back hairdo, shiny leather shoes, and a briefcase. You would think he is an uptight; precocious; strong willed; anal retentive; kind; sad; happy; confident businessman. These things may or may not be true about this said man but we psychoanalyze them into our mind and think of what they could be without knowing the person.
Someone who uses psyhoanalization on others can seem judgmental, harsh, rude, or in some cases, very good at reading people. You won't always be right when you psychoanalyze people. But there may be times when you are.
All three of these egos often use defense mechanisms, which are repression, sublimation, displacement reaction formation, denial, intellectualization, and projection. Another theory Freud proposed was the Psychosexual Stage of Development Freud describes 5 stages of development in the early human life. The five stages are oral stage, the anal stage, the phallic stage, the latent stage and the genital stage. All these stages are influential in the development of the individual's character and depending on what sort of behavior the child is exposed to during these stages influences the outcome of personality. The anal stage itself deals with the tension the organism experiences in trying to fid his/her freedom. The child tries to gain independence through acquiring the ability to 'relieve' itself freely and in an independent way, without having to rely on the parents to 'clean-up'( ). Generally speaking, this stage is very important in the organism forming a healthy idea of independence and freedom, whereas the previous oral stage involves more dependence for feelings of 'pleasure' (being fed). A problem experienced at this stage will lead to dependence-independence issues for the individual later in life and perhaps a fixation on this unresolved stage of life. This is Freudian theory and can only be explained using his thinking. Pay no attention to the rubbish written above about OCD, controlling retentive behavior. Those theories do not belong in the classical domain of psychoanalysis. In this stage of development Freud argues that the adult personality is formed by the experiences form the first 5 or 6 years of life (Burger, p. ). Freud used self-assessment such as the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) that was designed by Henry Murray. The test asks people to make short stories about ambiguous pictures presented to them. Their answers are interpreted and are believed to reveal things about their personality. The TAT is considered more reliable than another projective test, the Rorshach Inkblot Test (Burger, p.). In this test, people are asked to identify what they perceive

Resolved Question: Is there spyware on my PC?
This is kinda long so please bare with me.
Here's some history on what's been happening in my inbox lately. I've been receiving e-mails from a phony company lately. The e-mails don't have an "unsubscribe" button but they do provide an e-mail address. Every time I send them an e-mail asking them to take me off their mailing list I get another one from a different e-mail address. I can tell it's them because the e-mails always have the same format. I've sent every one of the e-mails to the spam folder but because it comes from different addresses, I still get them.
So last night I downloaded Microsoft Office directly off Microsoft's website and a few minutes later I have 2 e-mails from this phony company that say this:

But here's the scary part....I tried to post this exact same question last night on Y!A and when I hit "submit", it took me to some phony security page I'd never seen before.
I'm actually kinda scared. How did they know I downloaded microsoft and was that just a fluke that happened last night while posting this question? Also, this morning I had 6 e-mails from them saying I'd won something from Microsoft.
Any help would be appreciated.
