THE PEACE PATRIOTS (Home Video Rate)
THE PEACE PATRIOTS (Home Video Rate) Narrated by actress and Air America Radio host Janeane Garofalo, THE PEACE PATRIOTS is an intimate portrait of American dissenters reflecting on their personal participation as engaged citizens in a time of war. Filmmaker Robbie Leppzer chronicles the story of people living in one area of New England-the Connecticut River Valley of western Massachusetts-who oppose the U.S. invasion and on-going military occupation of Iraq. This feature-length documentary follows a diverse group of individuals, ranging in age from 13 to 74, including middle and high school students, college students, teachers, clergy, community activists, and war veterans from Korea, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf, as they take part in vigils, marches, theater performances, and civil disobedience sit-ins to protest the war. The film features music by 2005 Grammy Award-winner Steve Earle, Pete Seeger, Ani DiFranco, Billy Bragg, Jonatha Brooke, Stephan Smith, Saul Williams, DJ Spooky, Jami Sieber, Shelley Doty, Andrea Prichett, and original music composed by John Sheldon. "In a time of sadness, thinking of the dead and maimed on both sides, THE PEACE PATRIOTS gives us hope and inspiration. I hope it will be shown widely." - Howard Zinn, author of A PEOPLE'S HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES. "A Filmmaker Unafraid To Go Against The Tide" - Rhonda Stewart, THE BOSTON GLOBE. 2005 Film Festivals: Boston Independent Film Festival, Plymouth Independent Film Festival, Northern Lights Documentary Film Festival, Camden International Film Festival, Vermont International Film Festival, Northampton Independent Film Festival, Global Peace Film Festival, and 7 Islands International Film Festival.

The Big Chill: The Great, Unreported Story of the Bush Inauguration Protest
The Big Chill: The Great, Unreported Story of the Bush Inauguration Protest Entirely unreported in the national media, the landmark protests of president George W. Bush's inauguration day are spotlighted in this firsthand journalistic account of the massive crowd that gathered in Washington, D.C. After the chaotic and much-disputed 2000 election and subsequent recount, hundreds of thousands of protestors stood in the freezing rain for hours and attracted an unprecedented police and military presence, causing the new president to abandon the traditional walk along the parade route. Crisp, telling details capture the scenes of violence between the police and protestors, the sharpshooters lining the roofs, the ominous chants of the group known as the Black Bloc, the wacky protest signs, and the diversity of ages and backgrounds represented by the protestors.

Resolved Question: If the president won't listen to protests, what is the next step?
I used to go to lots of protests in college. Now I hear that the president (Bush) refuses to listen to them. If people protest (hopefully peacefully) and this doesn't draw any attention from political leaders, then what is the next step? I fear that violence should be a last resort, but I don't really know what is in between? Mostly war protests. Trying to get soldiers back here and stop the over spending and other major stuff (more...)

Resolved Question: Do you think there will be mass protest when Bush tries to move to Texas?
Some friends and I just ordered a banner which we plan to keep in front of his house which says, "NO TERRORIST IN TEXAS" While Bush tries to claim to be a Texan, that is another lie. To be a real Texan you must be born here. We don't want him anymore than the rest of the country. (more...)

Open Question: How come people who protest against Bush and Cheney as war criminals?
Don't protest over Pelosi and Reid who have taken impeachment off the table. Wouldn't that make them accessories? Franklin, You might want to check your time table again. Pelosi said impeachment was off the table in 2006, not in 2009. I am just curious how some people can think that Bush and Cheney are war criminals, yet don't believe Reid and Pelosi are accessories. Andrew, I am aware of Cindy Sheehan, but my question is far from false, but would you like to compare how many more Bush protesters are arrested compared to Pelosi and Reid protestors. Guaranteed it is overwhelmingly skewed. (more...)

Voting Question: Does the global outpouring of support for the besieged Palestinians remind you of the Iraq anti-war protests?
Remember how ten million marched around in the world in February 2003? No, they were not able to stop Bush and Blair, but they did turn world public opinion against the war, and we now know that Iraq will be America's last imperialist war. Will Gaza 2009 be Israel's last imperialist war? (more...)

Voting Question: Israel The Terrorist State Against Humanity?
Israel had committed genocide against the palestinian people and the world has the cheek to remain silent. Ok so israel don't have it that easy yet and they need a reason to go kill 100's of innocent civilians, so they use rockets as a reason seems though the "suicide bombers" option has been used before as a reason to build the apartheid wall. now hamas not being an army, it is a resistance group resisting israeli occupation and the israeli siege that has the palestinians locked up in a cage like an animal ever since the israelis so called left the gaza strip. The usa donates £7 Million of the usa's taxpayers money everyday to israel and also donates all military capabilities i.e F16 fighters and apache helicopters with missile guidance systems. Hamas only have self made rockets that have no guidance systems hence they can not be targeted at israeli interests. And now that israel is openly commiting genocide, mr bush has the nerve to say this ia all hamas's fault. Watching the protests in london today i was happy to see the british public is not as soo called "democratic" as gordon brown is but even though 80% of the british public has voted againt this genocide in the gaza strip, the typical british media has covered it all up once again. One israeli was even saying that israel have deliberately chosen this time to attack because all the worlds governments are on christmas/new year holidays which helps the israelis to get on with what they are doing freely. People who are still blind and believe this is all hamas's fault need to wake up and stop what is happening otherwise they will have no reason to complain abouht suicide bombers targeting israel in the future. Its not the rockets the israelis want to stop, its the gaza strip they want but just like what happened in lebanon, they will fail in gaza also as the palestinian people are very strong and will not be broken. May god help the innocent civillians dying and stop this zionist aggression. Supernovea Hamas does not have a poor aim, it simply does not have the usa donating state of the art guidance missiles as israel does, thats not hamas's fault. Flangela Haddock Hamas did not brake the ceasefire, israel did so get your facts right before you go commenting. There has been a lot of pro nazi comments being made on here by people who simply get their info of zionist media channels like the BBC and Fox News. Its a shame on countries like saudi arabia, they could have the terrorist supporting countries in the west by their balls by stopping all sale of oil to the west but its a shame thats not the way it is although i think that might soon happen as the arab countries are putting the pressure on saudi arabia now. but then again i think if saudi stop selling oil to the west then that would probably be a good enough reason for the west to go and kill 500 civilians in saudi am i right? People need to wake up and smell the coffee. Ok for all you people who still have a problem answer this for me. Whos land is palestine anyway, you do know that israel is an illlegal state according to international law? its as simple as this if israel stuck to their own borders (1967) then we would have a peaceful solution but israel wants the whole of palestine to itself am i right? I tell you what, why dont the british hand over the uk to israel and keep wales to itself? well for now anyway until israel decides to bomb the civilians there too. i bet people dont even think is a occupying state thats how think people are, i can tell the people making negative comments must not have done well in school (more...)

Resolved Question: is jewish human when bombing ingured men and women and children and hospitals and mosques ?
inteligent bombing of gaza rocketing ingured men and women and children as we see in tv and hospitals and ambulanses carrying ingured persons and destroying hundred of houses and destroying 7 mosques till now and bush give the reson of occupied starvated palestinian . bush who said guantanamo prison is not against humanity and who was responsible of abu gharib prison abuse humans and after that he appologize due to fbi mistake after all killing and crime war against humanity now bush said the same to jewish while all the world protesting against crime war in gaza and only the supporter of jewish is bush , and britain and sarkosi who se same supported appologize of bush after crimes injureddddddddddd., ambulancesssss hundreds of housessssssssss.,mosquesssss (more...)

Voting Question: Why is the world protesting Israel's missle launches into the Gaza strip?
OK, I admit I am 100% ignorant here. Are the reports of Hamas missle strikes into Israel accurate? If so, why is the world reacting so strongly to what Israel claims is self-defense? I understand that there have been civilian casualties. What I hear is that Hamas has weapons stashed in areas where there are a lot of civilians, making casualties inevitable. Bush says Hamas is the agressor, but the rest of the world seems to disagree. I love my country, but when the world and Bush disagree, I tend to think the rest of the world is probably right. So what's the story we aren't hearing? (more...)

Resolved Question: Why will we lose in Afghanistan?
http://www.voanews.com/english/2009-01-02-voa27.cfm The Afghan people took to the streets protesting Israel's bombing of Gaza and the US support of the bombing. They burned American flags and beat pictures of Bush with shoes. The Afghan people are angry and they hate the US. How can you win a war against an entire nation of people who hate you? (more...)

Resolved Question: Who is worse president Herbert Hoover or George W. Bush?

Resolved Question: Warren's inauguration prayer could draw more ire. Your thoughts?
President-elect Barack Obama's choice of Rick Warren to deliver the inaugural invocation drew one kind of protest. Whether the evangelical pastor offers the prayer in the name of Jesus may draw another. At George W. Bush's 2001 swearing-in, the Revs. Franklin Graham and Kirbyjon Caldwell were criticized for invoking Christ. The distinctly Christian reference at a national civic event offended some, and even prompted a lawsuit. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/rel_inauguration_prayer;_ylt=AiYSxxx02Xzzs6zDKZMYv3bZn414 Edit: It wasn't too long ago that some Americans were and still are concerned that president elect Obama is Muslim and not Christian. Now, there are some Americans who don't want the name of Christ envoked during Obama's presidential inauguration? Because it's "offensive" to "non-christians? Freedom of religion? Yes. I understand this. However, what those same people fail to realize is that the "Founding Fathers" of America were "Christian." The Constitution states freedom of Religion as in people are free to practice whatever religion they want. Having said that, America is still first and foremost a "Christian Nation" regardless of how many religions are represented in America. Talk about hypocrisy? ( o _ 0 ) Seems like we're a Christian Nation when it's convenient. The point being is that America was founded on Christian principles, period. Our Constitution allows for religious freedom. I guarantee you that if Obama came out and said that he's Muslim the majority of Americans would throw a major coronary thrombus. (more...)
