To protect and serve is no longer a guiding principle for these people. The US has more people incarcerated per capita than Russia and all other European countries COMBINED. Zero tolerance of every form of vice crime, racial profiling, corruption, and a prison system designed to pull a profit from the dehumanization and suffering have replaced freedom and liberty. Go try and strike up a conversation with a younger cop and watch how they will instantly ask for your "papers" and run every kind of check they can on you. Lately, we have seen some of the most atrocious cases of police brutality ever documented. Oscar Grant was shot in the back while restrained on the ground and unarmed. The cop responsible is enjoying time off with his family. Oscar left behind a four year old daughter. Michael Mineo in NY was sodomized in broad daylight by a police baton because he was carrying marijuana. At least these cowards were convicted. 12 year old Dymond Milburn was beaten to a pulp by Galveston Police because they thought she was a prostitute. After acknowledging (but not apologizing) for the mistake, the cops then showed up at her school and handcuffed her in front of everyone for assaulting a police officer during the struggle. 16 year old Mace Hutchinson was tasered 19 times by Ozark, Mo. police after he fell from an overpass and broke his back. The police in this situation were exonerated because they supposedly felt threatened by him. All of these events have happened in the last 6 months, and they are only the ones I can cite off of the top of my head. Am I the only one seeing something wrong here? What will it take to get these loathsome people to stop dehumanizing their fellow citizens? I don't put too much faith in crackpots who say that this is part of some New World Order slavery of the masses thing. But we have to start acknowledging that this is happening and start taking steps to prevent and punish these people who are working on our dime in our trust. Oh wise people of the Yahoo! Im a guy in high school. This girl started liking me about a couple of month ago, my friends would talked to some of her friends and they said that they were tired of her, because she would talk about me all the time, and i was like thats cool, not very interested, but it wasn't obvious, i was nice, i played my moves. But i started talking to her on facebook and she was like wanna do something. So we end up hanging at her place and watching a movie. we sat close to each other and she just rests her head on my shoulders, so i put my arm around her. Im starting to get interested in this girl. I start getting some feelings for her. Then we talk some more see a movie at the theaters. But we never called us like boyfriend and girlfriend. So winter break comes around, we talk some on facebook. Then couple days after Xmas she calls me and tells me that she would rather be friends and doesnt have those feelings for me. And i find out this guy broke up with his girlfriend and told her that hes liked her, for about a year, and shes always kinda liked him too. So i say whats up?, and she says shes really sorry, she did this to me, because she knewshe hurt me and would still like to get to know me and would like to be friends an. and i said we'll see. i think ill wait it out and see how her "relationship" with this guy goes. but shes shy and has a really guilty conscience. what should i do? should i still kinda talk to her? flirt a little? or just be like F&#k off? since school started Mon we havent talked and ive just ignored her, should i talk to her still or wait till she talks to me first, she still has to be thinking of me a little, am i still in her thoughts? should i ask her friend? opinions please (more...)

So now my mom is very mad now. she said that she is going to go to the school to tell them what happened. I don't want her to go because she might say that she is my mother and then kids will say im a Mommy's boy or a cry baby. By The Way I wasn't crying but my mom got very worried. I'm going to go see someone next week about this but I was wondering what you guys thought and if any of you have it? I pretty much am always worried. I worry so much that I have really bad stomach problems. I also worry so much that I come up with horrible scenarios in my head that I kind of trick myself into believing (I've always done that with boyfriends and excessively worrying that they are going to cheat on me). I also feel that if 'm not worrying about something, I should be. I can't concentrate in school sometimes and I even lose a lot of sleep because I can't stop worrying when I go to bed. I've had this problem since I was a little girl and it got worse in high school. Now I'm in college and this is causing me to get really depressed. Do any of you experience this? (more...)

For much of the last forty years, ever since America "fixed" its race problem in the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts, we white people have been impatient with African Americans who continued to blame race for their difficulties. Often we have heard whites ask, "When are African Americans finally going to get over it? Now I want to ask: "When are we White Americans going to get over our ridiculous obsession with skin color? Recent reports that "Election Spurs Hundreds' of Race Threats, Crimes" should frighten and infuriate every one of us. Having grown up in "Bombingham," Alabama in the 1960s, I remember over hearing an avalanche of comments about what many white classmates and their parents wanted to do to John and Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King. Eventually, as you may recall, in all three cases, someone decided to do more than "talk the talk." Since our recent presidential election, to our eternal shame we are once again hearing the same reprehensible talk I remember from my boyhood. We white people have controlled political life in the disunited colonies and United States for some 400 years on this continent. Conservative whites have been in power 28 of the last 40 years. Even during the eight Clinton years, conservatives in Congress blocked most of his agenda and pulled him to the right. Yet never in that period did I read any headlines suggesting that anyone was calling for the assassinations of presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan, or either of the Bushes. Criticize them, yes. Call for their impeachment, perhaps.But there were no bounties on their heads. And even when someone did try to kill Ronald Reagan, the perpetrator was non-political mental case who wanted merely to impress Jody Foster. But elect a liberal who happens to be Black and we're back in the sixties again. At this point in our history, we should be proud that we've proven what conservatives are always saying -that in America anything is possible, EVEN electing a black man as president. But instead we now hear that school children from Maine to California are talking about wanting to "assassinate Obama." Fighting the urge to throw up, I can only ask, "How long?" How long before we white people realize we can't make our nation, much less the whole world, look like us? How long until we white people can -once and for all- get over this hell-conceived preoccupation with skin color? How long until we white people get over the demonic conviction that white skin makes us superior? How long before we white people get over our bitter resentments about being demoted to the status of equality with non-whites? How long before we get over our expectations that we should be at the head of the line merely because of our white skin? How long until we white people end our silence and call out our peers when they share the latest racist jokes in the privacy of our white-only conversations? I believe in free speech, but how long until we white people start making racist loudmouths as socially uncomfortable as we do flag burners? How long until we white people will stop insisting that blacks exercise personal responsibility, build strong families, educate themselves enough to edit the Harvard Law Review, and work hard enough to become President of the United States, only to threaten to assassinate them when they do? How long before we starting "living out the true meaning" of our creeds, both civil and religious, that all men and women are created equal and that "red and yellow, black and white" all are precious in God?s sight? Until this past November 4, I didn't believe this country would ever elect an African American to the presidency. I still don't believe I'll live long enough to see us white people get over our racism problem. But here's my three-point plan: First, everyday that Barack Obama lives in the White House that Black Slaves Built I'm going to pray that God (and the Secret Service) will protect him and his family from us white people. Second, I'm going to report to the FBI any white person I overhear saying, in seriousness or in jest, anything of a threatening nature about President Obama. Third, I'm going to pray to live long enough to see America surprise the world once again, when white people can "in spirit and in truth" sing of our damnable color prejudice, "We HAVE overcome." Alright So I am an Army Veteran. I was wounded overseas awarding me the purple heart. I am now in the national guard beginning school again. I am currently utilizing my Federal Tuition Assistance and GI Bill, but you vets know that just doesn't cut it. I would just like to know the types of scholarships and grants that may be available to me as a veteran. I'm sure there are scholarships/grants out there for a purple heart as well. I'm just sitting here pinching pennies..not even pinching... I have these pennies in head locks trying to finance this semester of school.
