Freedomland
There are an abundance of outstanding performances in the uneven dramatic thriller Freedomland, with leads Samuel L. Jackson and Julianne Moore leading the way for a string of strong actors. The disappointment comes in the telling of the tale and getting all those performances on the same page. The movie is based on a dense novel by the talented and highly acclaimed writer Richard Price (who adapted the screenplay); the setting is a fictional town in Northern New Jersey and the low-income housing complex at its heart. As a housing project cop who's respected for keeping the peace and being fair with the residents, Lorenzo Council (Jackson) stumbles onto the case of an apparent carjacking and child abduction one night that throws the projects into turmoil. But there's something fishy in the details Brenda Martin (Moore) slowly brings to light regarding her abductor and her missing child. Jackson and Moore deliver a series of superbly nuanced monologues with varying degrees of passion, but the story can't always keep up with their talky exposition. Most of the burden lies with director Joe Roth, who sometimes finds it hard to make the intricacies of Price's screenplay lively enough. Even so, Freedomland is a serious commentary about racial tension and personal emotion. Supporting players Edie Falco (of The Sopranos fame) and the grandly aging character actor William Forsythe as Lorenzo's partner add greatly to this valiant attempt at a deep dramatic statement. --Ted Fry

Silk Road

ebay charge you per item you sell and when you go into paypal and click on details there are deductions off the final price for ebay fees. then they charge that same amount again as monthly ebay seller fees. so you get charged twice. can someone help me with this issue? is this meant to happen? Is the deductions not made until the month is over?

^ these are all new parts.
The cons: The front windshield is cracked
There are some rust holes in the rear wheel wells i have cut out most the rust but never patched them up these cars are very common for that.
There are a few dents in the body but nothing to major the paint is in good shape.
Premium sound system wires in back to hook up subs. ( i plan on getting some.)
The seller has put more than 12k into the car, it seems like a good deal to me, but it's gonna be my first car.
by the way how much do you guys think for a new windshield also?

Open Question: How can I sell some gold bullion without everyone and his brother wanting a cut of the action?
I've got some 1 oz gold bars I'm looking to sell, but ebay's fees are not only ridiculous by themselves, but they also force you to use PayPal for this type of transaction, adding even more to the fees. By the time I pay for insured shipping, this will cost me a hundred bucks a bar! The major bullion dealers online won't even think of paying you anything within 50 bucks of spot, and you still have to pay for the shipping, and local gold dealers are a joke (one pawn shop lady said she'd give me 200 dollars per bar. What do I look like, a f***ing crackhead? I need money, but not THAT badly.
Does anyone know of an online gold market that connects buyer to seller with no middleman?

Open Question: When selling my car...?
I have disclosed everything I know about my car to a potential buyer - the good and the bad. It's got some old car issues, but nothing crazy. I always wondered, if something goes wrong with it in a week, or month, or even a year, could the buyer hold me liable? Would it be helpful for both of us to sign an as-is kind of clause? I bought a used car from a private seller, and it didn't occur to me then, but now that I think about it...

a) Derive the AC and MC functions of a single lemonade stand. Suppose there are 50 identical lemonade stands in town (the market): Derive the (short-run) market supply curve.
b) Suppose that the market price of lemonade is P* = $7.5 (per liters). Find the profit-maximizing amount (liters) of lemonade for any firm. Calculate the profits of a single firm. Is this market at its long-run equilibrium? Comment.
c) The city officials, noticing the excess profits made in the lemonade business, decide to impose a per-liter tax of $1 on lemonade suppliers. That is, sellers of lemonade have to pay $1 to the local government for each liter of lemonade sold. Derive the new marginal cost and (short-run) supply curves. Open Question: Selling dress..What is your experience as a seller on Paypal?
Hi everyone...
I posted up my wedding dress on craigslist a few weeks back.
A gentlemen (interesting, I know) emailed me saying that he was interested in purchasing it for his daughter. He had no questions about my post or about the dress. He offered to pay the price of the dress ($2,600) and shipping cost ($175). I said that I wouldn't be able to give him the total cost of everything until he gave me the exact address he wanted it delivered to. Today he sent me the address, and it goes to: Enugu, Enugu State, Zip Code:234 42 in Nigeria.
This made me pause for a bit and think, is this a real address? Is this a scam? I tried looking the address up on the internet but I couldn't map it somehow. If I send him the request for money, and he pays it, is there anyway he can just reverse it? How can I insure that Paypal is trustworthy to back up the cost of the dress if this falls through?

Open Question: 1869 basebal authentic card? ?
Bernice Gallego sat down one day this summer, as she does pretty much every day, and began listing items on eBay.
She dug into a box and pulled out a baseball card. She stopped for a moment and admired the picture. "Red Stocking B.B. Club of Cincinnati," the card read, under a sepia tone photo of 10 men with their socks pulled up to their knees. The card itself was dirty and wrinkled in a few places.
It was definitely old, Gallego thought. As a collector and seller, it's her job to spot old items that might have value today, to find the gems among the junk.

It's what Bernice, 72, and her husband, Al Gallego, 80, have been doing since 1974 at Collectique, their Tower District antique store full of old jukeboxes, slot machines and records.
This card, she figured, was worth selling on eBay.
She did what she does with most items: Took a picture, wrote a description and put it up for auction. She put a $10 price tag on it, deciding against $15 because it would have cost her an extra 20 cents.
Later that night she got a few odd inquiries -- someone wanting to know whether the card was authentic, someone wanting her to end the auction and sell him the card immediately.
Hmm, she thought, this could be something special. It could be worth $50, or even $100. but granny just found out its worth over 1 hundred grant
