There is greatness in film that can be discussed, dissected, and talked about late into the night. Then there is genius that is right in front of our faces--we smile at the spell it puts us into and are refreshed, and nary a word needs to be spoken. This kind of entertainment is what they used to call "movie magic," and there is loads of it in this irresistible computer animation feature. Just a picture of these bright toys on the cover of Toy Story looks intriguing, reawakening the kid in us. Filmmaker John Lasseter's shorts (namely Knickknack and Tin Toy, which can be found on the Pixar video Tiny Toy Stories) illustrate not only a technical brilliance but also a great sense of humor--one in which the pun is always intended. Lasseter thinks of himself as a storyteller first and an animator second, much like another film innovator, Walt Disney.

Lasseter's story is universal and magical: what do toys do when they're not played with? Cowboy Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks), Andy's favorite bedroom toy, tries to calm the other toys (some original, some classic) during a wrenching time of year--the birthday party, when newer toys may replace them. Sure enough, Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) is the new toy that takes over the throne. Buzz has a crucial flaw, though--he believes he's the real Buzz Lightyear, not a toy. Bright and cheerful, Toy Story is much more than a 90-minute commercial for the inevitable bonanza of Woody and Buzz toys. Lasseter further scores with perfect voice casting, including Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head and Wallace Shawn as a meek dinosaur. The director-animator won a special Oscar for "the development and inspired application of techniques that have made possible the first feature-length computer-animated film." A Post Office worker at the main sorting office finds an unstamped, poorly hand-written envelope addressed to God. He opens it and discovers it is from an elderly lady, distressed because some thief robbed her of 100 dollars. She will be cold and hungry for the rest of the month if she doesn't receive some divine intervention. The worker organizes a collection amongst the other postal workers, who dig deep and come up with 96 dollars. They get it to her by special courier the same morning. A week later, the same postal worker recognizes the same hand on another envelope. He opens it and reads: "Dear God, Thank you for the 100 dollars. This month would have been so bleak otherwise. P.S. Whenever I try to install Battlefield 2: Special Forces, it only gets through about half way into the installation. I put in the correct registration key and everything. Also, I am able to install and play Battlefield 2 without any expansions perfectly fine. I really don't understand why I am unable to completely and successfully install Battlefield 2: Special Forces. The error message that comes up is "Install Shield has failed to install Battlefield 2: Special Forces, please try to reinstall from the beginning." Club Nintendo is an online club, where you gather poins by inserting Nintendo game pins into the site, and getting points for it. after saving up enough points, you can purchase prizes. I have 210, but my ultimate goal is 800, to buy a special Club Nintendo video game for DS, Mr. Game and Watch collection. To find the pin, simply open the game box and look through the papers that came with the game. You should find a paper that says "REGISTER NINTENDO SOFTWARE". If you do, there should be a 12-digit code on the back. If you have no use for this code, and find it in your heart to "donate" that code to me, please pm the code, considering people can steal it if it's in the open right here.
