Satie: Piano Works
Satie: Piano Works It's simple: in his various realizations of the piano music of Erik Satie, Aldo Ciccolini set a standard that has yet to be bettered. This compilation, drawn from recordings made between 1966 and 1971, is consequently the best of the best. Ciccolini always played Satie's music as though it had been written by Claude Debussy, not by some cheap charlatan or uneducated primitive (which, to an extent that is still debatable, Satie was). The result is that these seemingly simple piano pieces acquire a tonal allure that is as surprising as it is undeniable. They possess an understated sophistication that points directly toward Ravel and Poulenc, at the same time providing an opening to the minimalist aesthetic of the later 20th century. Ciccolini's playing is pliant and graceful, and under his fingers the music seems to breathe and come alive. What more could a composer or a listener want? --Ted Libbey

Satie: L'Oeuvre Pour Piano
Satie: L'Oeuvre Pour Piano Pianist Aldo Ciccolini garnered lots of attention in the late 1960s and early 1970s when he recorded all of Erik Satie's original piano music for EMI. The cycle remains first choice for Satie fans, who certainly will welcome its first complete (as opposed to excerpted) reissue on CD. Ciccolini's interpretations are paradigms of expressive economy and directness, and happily eschew the "let's see how slow and important I can make these works" attitude that sometimes prevails among younger Satie practitioners. Ciccolini's diamond-edged sonority, sparkling technique, and willingness to accept the composer's high quirk quotient at face value further enhance these performances. While Ciccolini admirably overdubs himself in the piano duet works, one misses the added color and ensemble give and take gained from Ciccolini's digital remakes partnered by Gabriel Tacchino. For the price, though, Satie fans can hardly go wrong. Don't let EMI's French-only annotations prevent you from acquiring this classic cycle. Get it while you can. --Jed Distler

Open Question: How do u think this sounds?
Okay I had to write a bio on Taylor Swift, tell me how it sounds would ya? btw i am gonna use abbreviations but not on my final report okay and im only showing u like half. Taylor Swift I read a bio on Taylor Swift- The pop-country princess sweetheart. Taylor grew up on a farm in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. Her mom was a major business executive, So that's why she wanted to name her daughter Taylor- because if anybody saw on a business card the name, Taylor, they wouldn't know if it was a boy or girl if they were thinking of hiring her. But Taylor didn't go exactly the way her mom had planned but her parents were still perfectly fine with it. Taylor was born December 13 1989, after she was born her mom decided to become a full time mom. Taylor was happy that her mom stayed home to raise her "My mom decided to stay home to raise me. She totally raised me to be logical and practical. I was brought up with such a strong woman in my life and i think that had a lot to do with me not wanting to do anything half way" Taylor told the 'Ottawa Citizen'. By the time Taylor was 2 she found out she would be a big sister to a little brother named Austin. They acted just like brother and sister should act. For Taylor 2 must have been a very exciting age. Because Taylor was 2 when she revealed her hidden talent--Singing! Actually here are home video's of Taylor walking up to strangers and start singing to them- like songs from the lion king. They all thought she was the most cutest child ever. Andrea and scott--Taylor's parents-- weren't to surprised when they had a singer in the family, after all Andrea's mother had been a professional opera singer. When Taylor was 6 she got a LeAnn Rimes album--'Blue'. That's when Taylor discovered country music. She'd listen to the album non stop! LeAnn was one of the biggest teen country singers of all time! Releasing her first album when she was 13-no wonder Taylor wanted to follow in the footsteps. After that CD Taylor was hooked on Country Music. She would always sing along to the songs of her fav country singers, so Her mom encouraged her to try out for the community children's theater when she was 9. She had a blast acting, and she loved to be in musicals the best. She was 10 when she knew that she had to be a country singer. She was on stage playing Sandy from 'Grease' and every song lyric came out sounding like country! She already knew she was gonna be a singer- she couldn't put that voice to rest. But then she knew it had to be country. And she loved to be on stage too! everything was perfect. She was pretty, talented, loved the attention. Taylor sang at bars and restraunts on karaoke night. she had to beg her parents to take her. They knew how much it meant to her so they had to take her. One of Taylors fav places to go was Pat Garrett roadhouse. A couple of country stars sang there every week. And so every week, they offered a winner-The winner would be able to open for the singer that would be there that night. Taylor just kept telling Pat 'I'm just going to come back here if u don't let me win once' she would never give up. With her determination and talent, Taylor got the chance to open for Charlie Daniels and other country acts. Taylor soon started performing at fairs and festivals, she took an chance she could just to be up on stage. Every weekend Taylor would sing at a fair, festival or karaoke contests. "The cool thing about this is that my parents never pushed me. It's always been my desire and love to do this. That's what makes it so sweet, see if i had been pushed , if i didn't love this, i would probably not have made it this far" Taylor told CMT.com. Taylor just kept finding places to sing. She sang the national anthem at a bunch of sporting events when she was 11, She sang at Philadelphia 76er games, and Jay-Z (who had been watching) gave her a high five after she sang-she bragged about that for a year straight. She had been getting a lot success, Taylor's mom helped her record a demo CD.it had a bunch of songs of Taylor singing karaoke of classic Country songs. Taylor knew she would have to get the attention of BigWigs of of country music in Nashville, Tennessee. Nashville was a big music city, it's home of the framed Ryman Auditorium, the Grand Ole Opry, and Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. Since Taylor wanted to follow in LeAnn Rimes footsteps, her mom and her made copies of her Demo CD, and drove down to Nashville. She handed out her CD to every Music Label receptionist and said 'Hi. Im Taylor Swift and Im 11 and I ant a record deal' and handed them her Cd. It took a lot of courage to do that. Finally someone was nice enough to call Taylor and tell her that's not the way you get a record deal. So of course she didn't get one on that trip to Nash (more...)

Resolved Question: What is your opinion about this article called ''R.I.P. Football''...?
... it was written few days before Liverpool vs Milan CL final... if anyone has 10 minutes to read everything can answer the question (I doubt anyone will) I really agree with this guy too..... ''As a sport, I have to admit football isn't a big deal. Too many people are following a ball, too little ending of this commune effort. It also takes about 2 hours... And then, what's its magic??? How was it possible to become the "king of sports" ??? The answer is simple but also painful. THE FANS. The people. Why painful? Because from this fact it will "die". Now everybody (bankers, good fellows, family guys, women, babies, unborn children) are wanting to go to the "show". I go crazy when I hear this: "show". Haven't the circus, theater, opera, handball, basketball, formula 1, Disneyland etc. been enough??? Why do you want to take our last joy? The last place where you can come and feel free? free to swear, free to spit, free to talk aloud, to drink with your friends, to live an adventure in an away trip. Does everything has to be like you want it??? To sit on a chair, clap your hands, and maybe also to wear the right kind of perfume. To be unable to scream because next to you there is a 9 year old girl. To be unable to swear because a woman on high heals can't accept the rudeness. Do I really have to sell my house just to participate at a world cup? A ticket for a match has became so important that they have to write your name, address and 5th degree relatives on it. To be forced to seat on a warm chair, to drink Pepsi and eat hot-dog. Is it possible to confuse the interior of a stadium with a mall?''..... Do you like what football is becoming, a ''show'' for rich people that, like the guy said, care about football like we care about Eurosong??? (more...)

Resolved Question: Easy 10 points. Tips for my poem?!? ?
Okay, so heres the poem, its called "There is no U in love". Thump?thump?thump?thump, My gown flows in the wind as I run. Thump?thump?thump?thump, My heels break off with my heavy footing. I run away from the castle ? In my ballroom gown, In my state of confusion, In my princess crown, In my mind of alienation. There is no ME in forgettable, There is no U in everlasting, There is no ME in hatred, There is no U in love. It was a Tuesday when I saw you ? Standing by the statue in the park. I was sitting on the bench ? Reading a novel and glancing at you. Your flawless smile caught my eye, Your chestnut locks stole my attention, Your emerald eyes were tattooed into my head, Your courteous and refined character made me fall ? Absentmindedly fall in love with you. There is no ME in forgettable, There is no U in everlasting, There is no ME in hatred, There is no U in love. With the confidence of a tiger, You slowly approached me. Accompanied by the soul of a gentleman, You gracefully complimented the shy woman. My heart skipped a beat, And my face became a bright crimson. Awkwardly, I responded back, And conversation began ? Began like the starting of a new scene. There is no ME in forgettable, There is no U in everlasting, There is no ME in hatred, There is no U in love. As the words flew out of our souls, I couldn?t stay satisfied. You spoke of your family ? And I longed to see them. You spoke of your interests ? And I started to like sports. Your spoke of a past relationship ? And I realized that was history, But this is the now. There is no ME in forgettable, There is no U in everlasting, There is no ME in hatred, There is no U in love. As the sun drifted out of the sky, The moon slowly rose to get a seat ? A seat in the theater of my romantic film. I pointed out that hours had passed, But we couldn?t get enough of each other. You invited me to dinner at a restaurant ? Underneath the captivating night sky. After dinner we would go ? Go into another phase of this film. There is no ME in forgettable, There is no U in everlasting, There is no ME in hatred, There is no U in love. Surrounded by others falling in love, I felt the intensity level increase. Your confidence disappeared, As you tried to clutch my hand. Gently, your hand slid across the table ? With many pauses but successfully reached my hand. At that impeccable moment, We were tied together ? With the thread of love at our hands. There is no ME in forgettable, There is no U in everlasting, There is no ME in hatred, There is no U in love. With electricity surrounding us, You promised to walk me to your house. In a state of awe ? I could barely speak on the streets of the city. As time carefully passed, We arrived ? Arrived at a castle. Speechless ? I knew you had something to explain. There is no ME in forgettable, There is no U in everlasting, There is no ME in hatred, There is no U in love. Awkwardly, you attempted to explain, ?I ? I am a prince ? And this is my castle.? I couldn?t speak, I couldn?t breathe. ?But why ? why didn?t you tell me?? He sighed, ?I didn?t want to lose you.? A tear crept to my eye ? But he wiped it away, With the gentle man inside of him. There is no ME in forgettable, There is no U in everlasting, There is no ME in hatred, There is no U in love. His kind heart blinded me ? Blinded me from the incident. He motioned for me to come in, And I followed suit. The castle was beautiful ? Gold décor covering every inch of space. He walked me into the ballroom ? And suddenly my mouth fall to the floor. There is no ME in forgettable, There is no U in everlasting, There is no ME in hatred, There is no U in love. The ballroom was full of people ? All dancing without a worry. With a snap of his fingers, I was now the princess ? And he was the prince. He grabbed my hand ? And swept me off onto the dance floor. As my feelings for him grew ? Fear was knocking on the walls to my heart. There is no ME in forgettable, There is no U in everlasting, There is no ME in hatred, There is no U in love. He walked me to the center ? To the empty center of the ballroom. He asked for silence, And in that moment there was not a word. ?My princess, tonight I fell in love.? I begin to feel my body shake. ?Will you ? will you take this chance, To marry and love me forever?? Timidly and confused, I stood there in shock. There is no ME in forgettable, There is no U in everlasting, There is no ME in hatred, There is no U in love. ?My prince ? I love you but, I am not ready.? His head quickly fell in disappointment. ?Well, I?m sorry but ? You destroyed my plan, I can?t ever love you now.? At that moment, I felt the earthquake begin ? ?I?m not a princess ? I?m not your princess, This is my life ? not just your fantasy.? There is no ME in forgettable, There is no U in everlasting, There Heres the rest that got cut off: There is no ME in hatred, There is no U in love. I am the director of this film ? And I?m calling out ?cut?. I am the editor of this film ? And I?m removing the prince from this scene. I am the actor of this film ? And I?m taking a break. I am the victim of this film ? And I?m crying with my heart of despair. I am ? I am leaving this film forever. There is no ME in forgettable, There is no U in everlasting, There is no ME in hatred, There is no U in love. Thanks for the help! (more...)

Resolved Question: auditioning for a musical, what should i write under: other commitments?
i play softball, but im more into theater above anything. My highschool is having auditions for B&TB in a few weeks. last year, i played softball during the musical, and because i was playing a sport i only get a chorus part...and, that is what usually happens if your in a sport...well, at least for girls. This year it's kind of just based on if i get a lead or not. If i do, im not going to play softball, but if i don't then im going to. should i write down "MAYBE SOFTBALL, NOT DECIDED." Or should i just not write anything down? I don't want to down my chances! THANKS IN ADVANCE! (more...)

Voting Question: Was my best friend reasonable for leavin me like that?
BTW, me and X are both males. I've known X since I was in the second grade. However, we really got to know each other when we were together in the same class in the 8th grade. We became very close friends. We were so close, we even farted in front of each other carelessly (sorry for putting it this way lol). In the 9th grade, we were sitting next to each other in the theater watching the sports awards ceremony. I kept messing around with X, something like blowing through the ceremony's program pamphlet and into his ears. I thought it was okay since we always joked around like that. But, I noticed that he got a bit pissed off. So, I stopped and said, "What's wrong?" and stufff. He tried to ignore me throughout the ceremony. The next few days he wouldn't talk to me. I saw him online on the MSN chat room once and I asked him why he wouldn't talk to me. He said, "you know why" a lot. I told him I didn't and I need to know. Then he said things like: People think we are gay because we are always together. You are silly. stuff like that... I really don't remember really. He said we're better off without each other. One year later, he was sucking up to me, and telling me to go out with him and stuff. I accepted. But of course, our relationship didnt go back like it was. Why did he split up with me like that - being so random and stuff? I think it was like he was angry in the theater and decided to back up his attitude with some silly reasons and he regret doing that so he tried to befriend me again. I dno, wht do you think?
